With all the unconditional love and loyalty dogs shower us with, they are no doubt the best creatures in the world. The least we can do is reassure them that we value their efforts. And we do. Apparently, over half of dog owners in the U.S. kiss their pets more than their partners, a new study says.

According to a survey by Riley’s Organic, 52% of dog owners across the U.S. are kissing their pet more than their partner

The research was conducted by Riley’s Organics, as per PEOPLE.com, who wanted to find out just how close dog owners are to their beloved pets. After asking people across the U.S. how much TLC (tender loving care) they give their furry friends, the organic dog treat company was happy to hear that it was quite a lot, actually.

This trend also continued into the respondents’ sleep habits

Out of those surveyed, 52% said they prefer to sleep in bed with their dog over their significant other

If these numbers surprise you, Riley’s Organics has an explanation that puts everything into perspective. One of the most resounding responses came from a question about what do humans think of the bond they share with their dogs. An overwhelming 94% of pet owners said they consider their dog as one of their best friends.

No wonder we show dogs so much affection. We’re simply letting our best buds know they’re special.

I have Always loved my dogs more than ANY of the humans in my life including family. They have always ben there for me and loved me unconditionaly. My dad died 12 years ago and I never missed him as I never really loved him or he me. But when my Beautiful Border Collie Samba died 5 years ago my heart shattered and my soul was destroyed and I still miss him everyday more than anything in the world. People suck. They always let you down and you can never trust them. This is why I will not have any more people in my life than is completly necessary. Dogs on the other hand will always be there for you and love you unconditionaly. I tell my dog I love him several times and kiss him and hug him all the time. It's always nice to love someone who loves you back in such a wonderful way.

They also have their own smell which is addictive, it's probably the smell of pure love.

They say a dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans...Once I was out walking and I see a dog eating/playing with a dead squirrel. A little later down the road I see the same dog out in the yard with his family licking one of the owners face. I love dogs but they get in to some nasty stuff.

I am a dog lover but I would never kiss the dog and I do not understand how some dog owners let their dogs lick, lick, lick and then lickety-lick them and everybody else again, and it is much worse if they let their dog lick a child, especially if it is a baby. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/health-fitness/photo-stories/your-dogs-lick-can-make-you-sick-heres-why/photostory/63317489.cms?from=mdr , and https://www.foxnews.com/health/death-from-a-dog-lick-veterinarian-explains-rare-infection-triggered-by-pets-saliva , as well as this, https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/01/woman-had-to-have-all-four-limbs-amputated-after-pet-dog-licked-scratch-on-her-arm-10502654/

I kiss my dog way more than my SO largely because I don't have one. Just another reason I don't need to get involved with dating.
