Having a terrible day at work can be frustrating, overwhelming, and even demoralizing. Whether it's a challenging project, an annoying colleague, or just a series of misfortunes, sadly, there are plenty of reasons you might feel like you're a failure.
But as Sigrid and Bring Me The Horizon sang, "It's just a bad day / Not a bad life." And one of the ways to recover is by venting online. So we at Bored Panda decided to remind ourselves that the universe hasn't conspired against any of us. From time to time, everyone runs into some (undeserved) adversity.

I Work In Mosquito Control. Everyday I Go Into Vacant Lots, Holding Ponds Swamps, Low Areas, Woodlands And Onto Residence Properties. This Is Typical Of What I Find
I've lost my faith in humanity. What we do defines us and this is what we do. We are not stewards of the land or caretakers. We are a blight. We are just vultures picking at the carcass of a dying world.
I Work As A Valet And Make $3.85/Hour And I Received This As A Tip
Getting dealt a bad hand at work isn't the end of the world. Especially for content employees. According to Annie McKee, Ph.D., who is a best-selling business book author and advisor to top global leaders, from CEOs of Fortune 500 companies to government officials, those who are engaged with their jobs and colleagues work harder — and smarter. But that's quite rare.
"Far too many couldn’t care less about what’s happening around them," McKee wrote in Harvard Business Review. "For them, Wednesday is 'hump day' and they’re just working to get to Friday. And then there’s the other end of the bell curve — that nearly one out of five employees is actively disengaged. These people are sabotaging projects, backstabbing colleagues, and generally wreaking havoc in their workplaces."

"Disengaged, unhappy people aren’t any fun to work with, don’t add much value, and impact our organizations (and our economy) in profoundly negative ways," McKee explained.
"It’s even worse when leaders are disengaged because they infect others with their attitude. Their emotions and mindset impact others’ moods and performance tremendously. After all, how we feel is linked to what and how we think. In other words, thought influences emotion, and emotion influences thinking."

McKee thinks it’s time to finally blow up the myth that feelings don’t matter at work.
"Science is on our side: there are clear neurological links between feelings, thoughts, and actions. When we are in the grip of strong negative emotions, it’s like having blinders on," she said. "We focus mostly — sometimes only — on the source of the pain. We don’t process information as well, think creatively, or make good decisions. Frustration, anger, and stress cause an important part of us to shut down —the thinking, engaged part. Disengagement is a natural neurological and psychological response to pervasive negative emotions."

However, it’s not just negative emotions we need to watch out for. "Extremely strong positive emotions have the same effect," McKee said.
"Some studies show that too much happiness can make you less creative and prone to engage in riskier behaviors (think about how we act like fools when we fall in love!). On the work front: I’ve seen groups of people worked up into a frenzy at sales conferences and corporate pep rallies. Little learning or innovation comes out of these meetings. Throw in a lot of alcohol and you’ve got a whole host of other problems."
So it sounds like having your suspenders stuck in your chair every once in a while can be actually quite beneficial.

Over 2,000 Pounds Of Fresh Pork Being Rejected By The Walmart Distribution Center Because The Sell By Dates Occur When Their Stores Are Closed For Thanksgiving
This product will still be safe to eat for the next 15 days but they won't even attempt to sell it. This will end up in a dumpster today.
The pigs wouldn’t be happier if their corpses got sold. They didn’t want to die even for a good reason.
Load More Replies...Sadly, in most cases fresh meat goes to the dumpster only. It's "more expensive and a problem of responsibility to give it away for free" - heard that from a person who dumped a few hundred pounds of fresh meat the day before Christmas. It's not even going to be burnt for gaining energy from the process. It will just be wasted! And that's why I want some first world governments to not allow such massive overproduction of meat what makes it cheaper to get thrown than to be given to those who would appreciate some free food! IMHO a real possibility to significantly reduce animal misery!
Load More Replies...We're dumpster divers and Walmart LOCKS THEIR DUMPSTERS so you can't recycle, use or donate anything from them! Family is worth billions and billions and they can't be kind enough to let people help other people with what they waste.
Not that is agree, but they do it to keep from getting sued if someone gets sick. Some place pour bleach and other stuff like that too deter.
Load More Replies...No, it wont end up in the dumpster, the person who posted this doesnt understand how the food industry works. If Walmart rejects it, the supplier then goes and re-sells them to other customers. There is a whole system set up for this in place. I know people in the meat industry
I know people in the dumpster industry. OP is/was correct. This will end up in the trash.
Load More Replies...Animals suffered during their short lives without any daylight, ripped away from their mothers and transported for hours in packed trucks before being prodded into a building reeking of death and terror for absolutely nothing. There was a time when our ancestors gave thanks to the creatures who gave themselves up so humans could eat.
Sickening that pigs, sentient beings are killed in horrific ways (ventilation shutdown). The way they are treated during their short tortured lives and the way they are killed gives me nightmares. This is disgusting.
Dang they should just host a huge BBQ for the homeless but capitalism has essentially become the galatic empire.
Criminal on so many levels. Are species are idiots, actual fooking idiots!
The smart thing to do is to mark the pork way down in price. Folks would buy it at these slashed prices and freeze it. It could and should be given to food pantries. I bet people with no food would eat pork on Thanksgiving rather than turkey! Filling bellies is what’s important!🦃🐖👩👩👧👦👨👨👧👧👨👨👦❤️Norma Jean Morrissey
This is just disgusting, how much people waste. And I'm not blaming the poor workers who are forced to follow ridiculous rules like these. I'm talking about the huge, selfish companies that choke out small businesses and the ignorant, rich people out there who couldn't care less about the starving and the homeless. Imagine how many people could go a day without being on the brink of starvation, maybe for the first time in their lives, if this meat went to them. Some things are just messed up.
I'd be driving that load to the nearest shelters and zoo's before letting them throw it in a dumpster.
you have to wonder --When companies are Sooo rich they can afford to throw away 2000 lbs of meat - just how much are they gouging us--
If you're willing to pay the price, you're not being "gouged" (you're actually contributing to the demand). If you refuse to pay the price, you're also not being gouged. Get over it.
Load More Replies...I’ve worked for a meat and produce Walmart warehouse and if they left with the product it is most likely from the driver not being there on time or out of temp. Sell by dates aren’t considered until after it’s unloaded and would be dealt with by the warehouse, they would not be leaving with the product if it was unloaded. I have a feeling someone isn’t being truthful.
Sell-by dates are complete bulls**t. They aren't FDA regulated, they're arbitrarily set by the company who packages the food. I feel like there should be some kind of testing regulation to actually determine the likely date the food product will go bad if stored correctly. Maybe pair it with a date if the food is stored incorrectly just to cover basic stupidity.
The distributor should change the sell by dates to the day before Thanksgiving and send it back.
Why not donate it to some church in the neighborhood, to be given out to poor families with children, that can't afford Thanksgiving food? WWJD, right?
There are people going hungry and things like this happen, makes me mad
Damn they could GIVE THIS AWAY. The good will alone would up their yearly profit margin....
call the local foodbank and they come and pick it up and distribute it to all the foodbanks in the area.
why can't they donate to a food bank, a shelter, a church that feeds the poor. ANYTHING but the trash!
No respect for the poor creatures that were harmed, brutally killed and now trashed
Can't even give it away to the nearest food bank? You do wonder about management at times, don't you?
I am guessing that nobody suggested giving it to some of the millions of Americans who are unable to feed their children tonight.
Is there not a food bank or church to distribute this food to the hungry?
Can't blame the retailers entirely. Regulations need to change. Also, whoever is in charge of market analysis and purchasing might need a new job.
Keep it in the damn refrigerated truck until Thanksgiving is over then delivered on Friday, good heavens
The people who make these decisions will never be financially unstable or go hungry so they're fine with ANYTHING as long as it isn't unpleasant for them.
It's too easy to write off. Maybe we ought double the write off when the food goes to the hungry.
I don't understand why it isn't donated to food banks or soup kitchens if it'll be good for 15 or more days?! That would feed so many people and they'd be very happy to have it!
And They Wonder why FOLKS ARE STEALING as they CAN NOT AFFORD greedy Walton's Prices on MEAT supposedly in a World Wide SHORTAGE?? This is EXACTLY Why STORE SHELVES are EMPTY absolute NEEDLESS WASTE by the RICH & The POOR have to SUCK IT UP & Tyr to Keep Feeding their Families!!!
Why not “give” consumers “thanks” and put it out on a 75% off sale a day or two before.?
there's an app for this called Flashfood. it's to help reduce this kind of waste by selling near expired (even same day) at 50% off. wish more stores would get involved in the program. Only store in my general area has high end prices but I still get fairly good deals.
Again, this is disgusting and should be illegal. Shelters, food banks, homeless NEED THIS FOOD!!!!!
This will end up in a dumpster. You're lucky if you can find it before it thaws out.
that's wrong on so many levels - they should have donated it to the local shelters & food banks. That sux
The amount of carbon that went into raising these pigs - only for them to live a short, cruel life, die a crule death, more carbon to process and transport the meat and all to end on a fcking dumpster because people confuse a 'sell by' with 'is deadly after' date. So frustrating.
have you no food shelf near you? this could be the closest thing hundreds of families have to eat for "Thanksgiving". sickening
Criminal. Walmart should take and redistribute. It might up their name.
Why did they order it then? Poor little pigs will get a burial at least.
Why so indignant? Shocked at corporate excess? Righteous tut-tutting at the Walton's immense fortune? Crocodile tears for the wholescale slaughter of animals for human consumption? Please. We are all complicit in wasteful consumerism. And this horror will continue. Vote with your wallet. Refuse to shop at the big box stores. Refuse to eat animal. Many. Many people DO. BE the change you would see in the world. Or just STFU!
unfortunately those of us living on fixed income don't always have the option to just stop using walmart and amazon. we use those things because they're cheap, close by, and provide free pickup or shipping. i'd love to shop small businesses, but i just don't have the money to spare.
Load More Replies...There should be a law that shelters get notified and come and get it.
My question is where TF is a Walmart that’s closed on thanksgiving?
I worked at Walmart in high school and was horrified by how much food is thrown away instead of donated.
If the Health Dept finds outdated meat after the Thanksgiving in the meat section, they can be cited.
but now the pigs died for no reason. They're not going to be eaten or used
Load More Replies...Since nobody can prepare for the unexpected (just the way they can react to it), it isn't surprising that workers worry about other things.
"One could argue that today's employees are as equally stressed as their predecessors, but for different reasons," said Jodi Chavez, president of Atlanta-based Randstad Professionals, a segment of Randstad US, which provides finance, accounting, HR, sales, marketing, legal staffing and recruitment services. "They fear having their jobs outsourced to another country, have anxiety about how best to work alongside new technologies such as automation and robotics, have increased financial pressures with rising student loan debt and late retirement, and feel pressure to be 'on' and answering e-mails 24/7."

In difficult times, you need to find an internal reserve of energy and hope to help you make your way through. In other words, you need to tap into your resilience.
"Like so many other human traits, resilience can be woven into the fabric of one’s being (nature) and/or it can be learned (nurture)," career and business coach Marjie Terry said.
"One’s natural disposition may lead them to always look on the bright side or to look for the silver lining. For others, with an accumulation of life experience, they develop a resilience perspective and realize that, as the old saying goes, what doesn’t break you makes you stronger. They develop an ability to recognize that it’s important to keep going even when life hands you challenge after challenge—they develop perspective."
