If you’re a 90’s kid, you probably played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games at some point. Heck, maybe you even saw the pro skater make skateboarding history by landing The 900 at the 1999 X-Games. The Birdman, however, knows how to entertain us without a board, as well. Hawk is constantly sharing his funny tweets about the hilarious conversations he has with people who misrecognize him in person, and they’re so hilarious, they’re the most unexpected treats on Twitter ever.

Without a doubt, he’s the most famous skateboarder in history. But I still can imagine walking past the legend. After all, Tony has already hit the big 50 and looks like a pretty ordinary man if he’s not wearing a helmet and knee pads. Scroll down to read the funny exchanges he documented with unsuspecting folks, and be sure to check out our earlier list of these Embarassing moments when folks didn’t recognize they were talking to famous people!

More info: Twitter

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk was only 12 when he got his first sponsor. The Birdman turned pro two years later, in 1982

"Are you Tony Hawk" - "yes" - "why?" Is just awesome. I need to remember that for future commnicaation. Get a positive reply, and just ask "why?". Speachless confusion guaranteed.

That's because he's the real deal. I grew up in his scene and he's just a normal dude. Lot's of people who were famous really young are very grounded because it's all they know. It's not special to them. Plus, he was scrawny and knock kneed and would get teased and made fun of when he was a little kid before he got super good so he also knows what it's like to be on the bottom of the totem pole.

I wouldn't recognize him. Then again, I wouldn't recognize a lot of celebs. They are just people. It's okay if we treat them like people, right?

I've met a couple famous people that were absolutely not ok with being treated like people though... :) (and a couple that absolutely were, REM were the chillest people ever!)
