There are communities online dedicated to jerk behavior. In them, people post their stories pondering who is in the wrong and who should own up to their mistakes. “Should I have threatened my wife with divorce?” “Should I have sold the house without telling her?” “Should I be taking care of our newborn baby?” There’s confusion, there are different sides, miscommunications and misrepresentations—in other words, it’s juicy with ambiguity.
This list has none of that. Here, there’s no pondering, no other side, no other possible options—just pure, unadulterated jerks. Undeniable, unapologetic, unabashed jerk-y jerks that hopefully will get their portion of karma served sooner rather than later.
Do you wish to get disappointed by humanity? Are you in the mood to get your mood ruined? Then scroll down to witness the jerks and feel your blood pressure rise as if you’re doing cardio. You’re welcome.

People That Do This Are The Jerks
The infamous Am I The [Jerk]? (AITA) community on Reddit has become quite popular in recent years. The subreddit was created back in 2013, gained popularity in 2018, and by 2019 July had over 1 million members. Now, 10 years in, it has versions in multiple languages such as German and Portuguese and stands at 11 million users and counting.
The premise is simple: you post your morally questionable situation for the world to peruse and judge and wait 18 hours for people to do so. Then, the votes are tallied up and it is revealed whether the majority of the readers consider you a jerk or not. In fact, there are four different judgements you can be issued: You’re the [Jerk] (YTA), Not the [Jerk] (NTA), No [Jerks] Here (NAH), Everyone Sucks Here (ESH).
I Don't Understand Why People Can't Carry Out Their Own Trash. Especially At A State Park
Girl Scouts taught me to pick up other people’s trash as well as leaving the forest cleaner than I found it. Always. Even when drunk.
Well That's Unfortunate
The phenomenon of the subreddit didn’t go unnoticed by scientists. In a 2022 study, a group of Australian researchers looked at 100,000 posts from the subreddit to see how this internet space reflects on the state of our ethics.
They came back with a few curious takeaways. The first is that the majority of the inquiries are related to either relationships or communication. The second is that they usually contain two different topics. This could be a clash between family and money or loyalty and honesty.

Woke Up And Saw My Door Removed By My Parents. I Asked Them "Why?" And They Replied With "Privacy Isn't Necessary"
And that's how you get kids that the moment they can get out of the house, get out and never look back, never talk to their parents anymore, and the parents are just falbbergasted
My parents were very astute. I was a boy once, and my parents INSISTED on having a door on my bedroom just because I was constantly playing with myself. What frickin parent doesn't get this?
Load More Replies...A friend of mine had this done to her when she was a teenager. She's now an adult who's so paranoid about privacy she refuses to use a phone.
Or in the living room...no sense going to his room, right?
Load More Replies...I get the feeling that some crucial details are missing from this story. Like tell us how you slept through having your door removed.
Some people are deep sleepers, especially teenagers. I slept through the house next door being demolished, and through a fire alarm at university.
Load More Replies...In what world is this OK? A closed door on any room means knock and wait for a verbal response. At least in the Family I was raised in. A private space is a place to decompress for what ever reason
You could become a nudist, and I was in the privacy of my own room, but I will now share with you.
That is the only response that, maybe, will get you your door back
Load More Replies...No. Absolutely not. This is an invasion of privacy (rather, a LACK thereof) and it tells your child that you don't trust them. I have two sons. One is 22 and one is 19. There is no way in hell I would ever tell them "you don't need a door"..... but then again, I actually WANT my sons to come to me when they need me and for them to actually WANT to see me. Good luck to these parents. They're gonna need it when the kid goes NC.
Yes, this isn't normal. Kids don't learn anything by being abused. Actions like this create new problems
Load More Replies...And that, i.e. "Privacy Isn't Necessary" is precisely what the staff in the nursing home will say to them as soon as the son/daughter sticks them in there and leave them there to rot.
It's not just a matter of privacy; it's a matter of safety. In the event of a fire, a closed door can literally mean the difference between living and dying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSP03BE74WA&t=240s
My parents still brag about doing this to me when I was in my teens. My dad also kool-aid manned himself through my door one time because he was drunk and I told him I wasn't going to share my leftover birthday cake. I'm just now realizing how dysfunctional we are.
Load More Replies...That's abuse. When you move out, tell them that when they're old you'll stick them in the cheapest nursing home you can find because their comfort isn't necessary.
Tbh I would leave them to find their own care home
Load More Replies...Seems weird was done randomly. My guess is there is more to this story...
I swear to the gods old and new that I will never do this to my teenage daughter EVER
This isn’t parenting, this is abusive and dangerous, especially for teenagers.
When I was a teenager, in order to have privacy, I had to drill holes through my doorframe and put in screwdrivers to lock my door. If I wanted to leave the house for something other than work, I had to climb out of my window after everyone was asleep, and jump off the garage roof, walking to where my car was parked at the edge of the property (wasn't allowed to park in the driveway). Usually I did this only to drive around randomly, and to just get out of the house.
This is abuse, kids absolutely need privacy at times, they need personal space
This is why your kids grow to resent you and only deal with you when they have to.
My parents were very respectful of my privacy and had no problems with me closing the door. They would rather that than seeing their daughter ashamed of herself. These types of parents are the ones that don't get why their kids don't call or visit.
Jack off in front of the open doorway and maintain eye contact with your parents. (This also works in a business setting and is how I got my own office.)
Sounds like carte blanche to wander into their bedroom/bathroom any time you'd like.
At this point, parents can't respect privacy anymore, because they just HAVE to go through our stuff and not respect our space because "they said so''
Since when did parents become the ones needing permission to lay down rules for their children? Until kids turn 18 they are MINORS! They don’t make the rules! They are not mature enough to understand that there are always consequences to their actions! If your parents removed your bedroom door, what did you do to push them into making that decision? You did NOT just wake up one morning with you door gone! You pissed one of them off enough to warrant that action And you know it!
Masturbate vigorously right next to door opening to establish dominance. Will probably get the door replaced too.
Even though we don't know the full story, sounds like the parents are not trusting the young person due to their poor communications. Sorry to anyone who has had to go thru this. Leave home and start your life. Send a card once in awhile so they don't hound the local cops to try and find you. Parents - no cool! Time to communicate and stop thinking you can read your kids minds! Most of them are good people and you need to trust them.
Perfect discipline W/O violence or harsh words! If more were actually disciplined (in any way) we’d live in a much saner society!
I would self pleasure often and loudly. See if door goes back on.
Privacy Isn't Necessary. Sounds like a motto for Facebook subscribers.
Someone's been listening to the likes of Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt... And look at where they are now.
That's not cool at all, but...I kinda impressed they managed to remove the whole door while the person was asleep I'm the room
I would disown them and go no contact after getting out of the house.
So, you stand there in your underwear, yawning, farting, scratching various parts of your body, bent over looking for something under the bed, cutting your toenails, picking your nose, anything gross that you can think of EVERY SINGLE TIME they're able to see you doing it. Get them to think about who might actually need you to have privacy.
Remove all the bathroom doors. Remind them that privacy isn't important.
I doubt they just randomly decided to take their kids door off the hinges.
I would have run away from home if my parents did this. Terrible thing to do to a kid.
That is absolutely unacceptable! Make sure to follow them to the bathroom and bang on their door while they sleep. Move out as soon as you get done with school.
I would masturbate twice as much just to teach them a lesson. Privacy isn't necessary? Well enjoy the show a******s!
I'd ask them how my younger siblings were brought into existence. Nothing to hide, right?
Why do you never come visit us in the retirement home? The nurses beat us!…Unlike you mother & father I believe in privacy. It’s why I gave it to you, for the last 40 years.
Adapt their point of view, and post their credit card numbers on the Internet.
Right solution, wrong solution... How could you sleep through your door being removed? Or maybe that's the problem? Whatever had them sleeping like the dead was not legal?
Holy s**t dude some people are just deep sleepers. It’s not always a kid doing bloody drugs
Load More Replies...I have never heard it called that before, I should try to use that.
Load More Replies...my question is how did you not wake up to them removing your door in the middle of the night?
I did this for 2 weeks after my 9 y/o locked me out of his room during what was to be “a talking to”. He never did anything like that again.
Dude some people sleep deeply. I once slept through a test fire alarm.
Load More Replies...The third insight is probably the most compelling one that speaks a lot to the nuances that come with ethical decisions. That is that the “final verdicts do not line up with the moral concerns in the original stories in any simple way.” This means that a seemingly straightforward question such as “Should I support my wife’s dream aspiration?” gets way more complicated once it is revealed that the wife is crossing agreed-upon boundaries and is lying about it. In other words, the devil is in the details.

This only speaks to how perfectly the subreddit reflects the real world. Ethics is messy and there seems to be no straightforward way to solve a typical situation because there’s no such thing as a typical situation. Each case is different in its own way and judging them by some set-in-stone principles can be wrong.

A Generous Tip For Someone Working At A Restaurant
Another study found that the members of the AITA community tend to prefer the positive stories, those in which they absolve the authors who end up being right after all. Those end up being upvoted the most. This shows that naturally tend to see the good in people and like to root for the protagonist instead of condemning them. It also speaks to our desire for complexity. It gives us a glimpse into a situation where nuance does matter.

Built A 7-Foot Privacy Fence. Neighbor Raised His By 2 Feet And Put A Camera Facing Into My Backyard
I've been having problems with this neighbor since they moved in years ago. They originally built their fence 2 feet into my property in early 2020. I had to pay for a boundary survey and a lawyer to get them to correct their mistake. Decided to build a privacy fence and be done with them once and for all this past November. One month later they raise the height of their fence and this pops up (facing front to back). Police won't do anything and I can't afford a civil suit (Texas).

After quantifying all the data, the researchers also found that the subreddit’s community only minimally cares about the poster's gender or age. Young females tend to get more favorable judgements than older males, but only by a small margin. As the impact is very slight, the paper concludes that “age and gender have a minimal effect on whether a user is judged to have positive or negative moral valence.” This means the community tends to be quite objective when judging others’ moral behavior.

All in all, it seems like, just like plenty of philosophers, the Am I The [Jerk] community is fascinated by the workings of morality and ethics. The nuances are often fascinating and show us that no one decision is as straightforward as it might seem. Unless you’re talking about choosing to endlessly scroll on your phone at the cinema. There’s no justifiable reason for that. Or is there?

Someone Broke Into My Home Last Night And Stole All My Kids' Gifts. Merry Christmas, Everyone
We were at the library around 7 pm and some truly awesome person stole my 3 and 5-year-old's Christmas presents. Luckily I had 1 each put up from Santa. Also stole my small safe with backup money. Also, if you’re wondering - this is an RV.
