This Artist Draws Comics About A Little Penguin Who Fails At Basic Life Tasks, Except Being Super Cute (30 Pics)
Penguins aren't as common as, say, pigeons, and that's a huge problem. These flightless birds are so adorable, just looking at them can brighten even the darkest of days. However, there are more ways to charge ourselves up with their good vibes than simply meeting cute penguins at the zoo.
Like checking out the animal comics by Sheba, a self-taught Japanese artist who simply adores penguins. Her wholesome strips perfectly reflect their cute nature. From dealing with rainy weather to getting into shape, Sheba's characters don't let their everyday problems ruin their mood, and that's something we can all learn from them. Except for Sheba's imagination, penguins live almost exclusively below the equator. You can find some island-dwellers in warmer climates, but most—including the famous Emperor, Adélie, Chinstrap, and Gentoo penguins—chill in and around Antarctica. Their thick layer of blubber and tightly-packed, oily feathers allow them to withstand even very cold temperatures.
"I don't remember how I fell in love with birds, but I was already a huge bird lover when I was in my teenage years," Sheba told Bored Panda. "The reason why I mostly choose penguins for my funny comics is that they are easier to comicalize than other birds. And the emperor's chicks are one of the cutest creatures on Earth!"
The artist said the ideas for these cute comics come from little everyday situations and funny problems. "I get my inspirations from my ordinary life, which is no different from those of people I see on the streets. My drawings express my love for people as much as for penguins."
I have a noticeable (if I don’t blow dry it down) and oddly placed cowlick right at the top part of the back of my head. It has been the bane of my existence my whole life.
Don't worry, sweet little penguin. You aren't alone here.
i can relate :D have to left feet, so never learned to skate or ski properly, but butt sliding always works :)
That was an adorable little penguin. Would be great to see on stationary products too. I hope you make a brand somehow.
A little flip book on the bottom of the notepad would be cute.
Load More Replies...Oh my, that little penguin is about the sweetest I've ever seen. And his actions! Touches my heart. What a talented artist, thank you so much for these. Funny enough I saw one drawing on pinterest and saved it because I felt so charmed by its perfection, personality and the stroke it is drawn with. Beautiful!
I recently lost my mom . This post has made me have a rare smile at her memory. She absolutely loved penguins, and she also happened to be incredibly sweet and awkward ❤️
This especially touches home for me because penguins are sort of a thing for my SO & I. When we have our first little one I'm already calling them "penguin baby" and the baby shower will be penguin themed. I love this more than I can say. :)
