Pascal Armance Discovers The Cosmos Through Color

Vincent Van Gogh considered the night more colorful than the day. Montreal-based artist Pascal Armance has carved a niche for himself in the Canadian art scene, drawing inspiration from the colors of starlit skies. After relocating to Montreal, the area’s cultural and artistic richness became a profound source of inspiration, influencing both his style and thematic choices.

Growing up in a household where art was a cherished pursuit—his siblings all dabbled in various artistic mediums—he found himself surrounded by an atmosphere that celebrated imagination. His early artistic endeavors included crafting figurines from leftover wood in his father’s carpentry workshop. This hands-on experience not only sparked his love for art but also nurtured a deep appreciation for texture and form, elements that would later influence his painting style.

Armance’s intriguing artistic turn came when he began exploring abstract painting. Initially, his canvases resembled depictions of cosmic landscapes, leading him to follow an artistic direction that he terms “Space-Art.” This artistic approach combines his fascination with the universe—incorporating the Milky Way, planets, moons, and stars—with local landmarks that link the terrestrial and celestial.

Without formal training beyond his foundational art education, Pascal Armance has continually evolved his style and honed his craft. His fusion of Space-Art and location motifs captures the imagination with interpretations of both the universe and the area he calls home. As he continues to transform the interplay between art and the cosmos, Armance remains a compelling figure to watch.

Hey there, Pandas! My name is Diana (though some prefer to refer to me as Diane, Deanna, and even Liana sometimes), and I am a Community Post Moderator Lead for Bored Panda. As my position title states, I am one of the people (employed Pandas for bamboo) over here who work with the community side of things on this website to ensure all is well, and while at that, I also help various creators and artists get recognition for the incredible work they do by connecting them to a large worldwide audience. Other than that, outside of work, you can find me brewing a nice cup of coffee, making a pizza from scratch, or baking brownies. I also love traveling, concerts, and cats (heavy on that, because I am a cat mom).
