My current boss has literally done this to other staff, deliberately tried to underpay them and push them into collecting Centrelink to "make up the rest, so it'll be just like you're getting paid normally!". She's a cow.

Little angels they all seem to be. She wants to pay almost nothing the sitter must provide quality vegan food out of what she earns is not allowed to study is not allowed to watch tv. Jeez lady,, do you think maybe you aren't a little certifiable. Your supposed to prize your children over everything yet you seem to value the mighty dollar more. Even a homeless person wanting to keep warm and dry wouldn't abide by this.

Are you insane??? You want them watched at someone else's home? Do you not love your kids? Holy s**t. Not even the insulting amount it's the fact that IF someone has good results in their papers you are willing to just hand your kids over into their care in those home. No. No way. You must not watch the news much to realise how many kids go missing.

Where I live it is required to stay the f**k at home when someone in your household has covid. It's called quarantine. Ask a neighbor or someone to do the shopping.

Not only is she not paying properly, she doesn't even have the decency to ask 'are you available to babysit tomorrow?'. So many adults need a lesson in manners.

I'm confused!! Did she or did she not ask this person to come cat sit in the initial text??? Then to say her cat doesn't need watched as she is quite used to some routine but turns it around that she was offering a play date for her cat and the sitters cat!!!

Playing the “I’m in the military” card seems to be very common in the US. Why do you worship the armed services so much (& why do some clearly have no problem taking advantage of the same?). Strange.

THis is all just so weird. When I was a single mom, we hired a nanny for $14 and hour - I made $11 and hour. Would have been cheaper for me to stay home. But, I liked working and the kids loved her and $14 helped her so we did it (also my job had benefits so it worked out...)

Wait what? At my last job I had to take potatoes from a production line which were not peeled properly by the machine, sometimes cut them and sometimes sort according to size. Whatever had been ordered. I worked only two days a week, hours varien depending on the amount of orders. The job was not the best, but the pay ranged from 128 - 250 € before taxes a month. For two days a week, one day starting at 8am, the other 10 am and maximum til 3pm because I had to get back and take my kids home from daycare. It's late and I can't do math right now, but it's still a better pay, isn't it?

My husband was in the army. They can afford 10 a kid. Military pay for spouse 800 a month and 400 a kid for the active member. So they just flat out ripping you off.

Bachelor’s degree at $12 to be a boa fife assistant, housekeeper, gopher and babysitter? These ppl are so deeply entitled it’s getting embarrassing.

Less than two bucks an hour. I'd do it for free for a close friend or relative in a bind, and have, but for a paid gig this is a joke. Look into subsidized daycare.

The only way this could work is if a group of mums got together and all chipped in for one of them to look after everyones kids. I can see taking care of your own kid +3 more for $90 per day, but one-on-one, that's not happening.

$13/hr doesn't seem awful for that in some regions. 'Especially if the sitter was allowed to bring their own kid, too. The degree requirement is classist though for sure.
