"Taking A Picture Of Me???" - Woman Changing Her Baby's Dirty Diaper On Top Of An Old Navy Clothing Display
Raising kids is hard, there is no question about it. It's easy to get stressed and frustrated - which can lead to some toxic parenting styles. Here are some toxic parenting behaviors to avoid. Instead of taking at your kids talk with them. Barbara Greenberg, PhD, a clinical psychologist known for her national television appearances focusing on the mental health of adolescents and teens, told Reader's Digest: “Toxic parents are known for not listening to their kids, but instead, talking over them or at them,” and said they should, "make a concerted effort to remain silent and listen, listen, and listen some more. If kids feel listened to they will talk more and confide more.

Try to stay positive! Negative thoughts can be more powerful than you think and affect your interactions with your kids. Internationally recognized child psychology expert, Jeffrey Bernstein, PhD, explained to RD: “No kid is perfect, but parents often don’t realize just how much their own thoughts, rather than their children’s behavior, contribute to their own emotions.”

It's hard to keep a cool head when you have a million things to do, the dog got out, you have to drop people off at activities and still have work. Dr. Bernstein believes that it is worth it to learn how to manage these parenthood frustrations as the outcome can have a positive effect on your child's behavior. “When you learn to identify and manage your own parenting frustrations, you’ll be amazed at how your child’s challenging behaviors can quickly improve.”

Letting Your Kid Watch A Movie On Full Volume In A Restaurant
Your child is not their behavior. We all have bad days, imagine if you snapped at your child and from every day onward your kid thought of you only as "angry" mom or dad. The same goes for your kids. Dr. Bernstein explained: “The lack of time for parents to catch their breath and reflect, can lead them sometimes to see their children in global ways. As a result, toxic labels such as: lazy, problematic, selfish, and inconsiderate can result in parents influencing their children to be locked into a negative identity." Focus on solutions, not labels.

Every kid is unique, even within the same family, and each one has something to bring to the table. Maybe you find it easier to get along with one sibling over the other or have more in common, but comparing kids against each other is toxic - especially if you think it will result in a change of behavior. Dr. Greenberg says, “Instead, you should celebrate each child’s individuality; comparisons damage self-esteem and do not serve as motivation.”

Don’t Use Your Kid’s Mental Illness To Be An *******
Exactly, nor is it an excuse. “ Oh my child’s autistic, so I get to do whatever I want.”
Load More Replies...Excuse for what? So your kid as a unique way of looking at the world so you are allowed to be an a*****e but no one should judge you!? Your kid is different but we all are. It's a different reason to be proud. A different reason to love them. Not a window sticker to brag about and shame them as if the world somehow excuses your behaviour
You're taking it the wrong way. How do you know the parents are a**e holes when there is no context? It's just a light hearted sticker, plenty of parents have similar stickers, telling the world their child has a certain condition. bored panda have taken its meaning the wrong way.
Load More Replies...As an autistic person I dont know if I should be offended that its written as a mental illness or that it excuses something that probably shouldnt be excused...
Autism isn't a mental illness, it's a sensory processing disorder. My kid is autistic. I do explain if necessary if he displays behaviour that seems odd especially for his age, but I do not allow him to act in an anti social manner and I know the difference between autism and bad behaviour. It's my job to be constantly vigilant to ensure that he is comfortable and to deal with any stresses he encounters and to ensure that he is equipped for life in this world, not to allow bad behaviour and use autism as an excuse. This person is trash anyway, that stupid jigsaw piece is the logo of Autism Speaks who can very, very much f**k off.
When I see children behaving in ways that seem odd I tend to think 'maybe they are autistic' and move along or try and say something supportive to the parent (depending on what they are coping with). It's a sufficiently known disorder these days after all and I can't be alone in thinking this way. Hopefully more people are aware these days.
Load More Replies...autism is also not an excuse, (speaking as someone who is in fact autistic) sure we may require some understanding, but there are places to draw the line
It's OK to be different. It's not OK to be a jerk because you're different. Besides, some of the greatest minds in history were probably on the autism spectrum. Beethoven, Einstein, van Gogh. Just to name a few.
This pisses me off. I have mental disorders. I'm a great person. My disorders are due to my mother's drug addiction and alcoholism. I'm still a great person. I have a bad back story. I'm a great person. I have depression. I'm still a good person. There is no excuse to be an a*****e
Oh, gross, it's even the blue puzzle piece of Autism Speaks (an organization that essentially supports child abuse)..
OMG - that poor child! Imagine growing up with your parents publically blaming you for all their perceived failings.
Needs context. So maybe this sticker is for when they park in a mother and child parking space - the kid may be older and other people in the car park may question why they are using mother and child space. It also calls out the people in the car next to them who has parked in the mother and child space with no child in evidence. But yes, autism is not a mental illness.
WOW! Mental Illness?!?!? I think you better google that !!!!! Cause your definitely confused!!!!
Mental illness or not, don't bring the kid into the spotlight just to get some personal sympathy or adoration or whatever it is you're wanting.
Sometimes ASD kids behave much better than neurotypical kids. I am saying this for experience
Don’t know why you have been downvoted coz you are correct. Autism is not an illness but is a disorder. They are different.
Load More Replies...Is there other instances, that the mother, will use, and shame her child ???
The parents likely use that excuse for everything, poor kids !!!
I don't even get this sticker... what the hell is it supposed to mean??
Wow! Who is the association responsible for even making those decals I wonder? That's an uncompassionate bitter sounding choice of words.
Clearly many of you have not been judged mercilessly for behaviors your child can't control.
Parents of children with disabilities don't advertise the fact, it can cause a lot of distress.
That is so tacky! It's an open insult to people they don't even know.
is your kid doing something in the car window they shouldn't be? i don't get why this is even a thing.
they don't realize they are justifying their bad driving behaviors on their child who's condition should not distract them from operating a motor vehicle.

At s popular shoe store , where they have a wheel you can spin for a discount, A young autistic boy continously spun the wheel for the entire time I was there. While making our purchase the cashier asked if we wanted to spin the wheel for a discount. My husband did " no thanks, we heard enough of that wheel since the boys parents decided not to control their son." It was the cashiers parents who weren't controlling her autistic brother. She let us know how rude we were for the comment. We let her know we were sorry. What we didnt tell her is that I have misophonia and a seizure disorder brought on by stress. I had to walk outside the store several times during his spin session. It was obviously bothering other customers since they walked out after a few minutes of the click, click, click.
I don't see anything wrong with this, it seems to have been taken the wrong way.
I see how it can be hard to see what's wrong with it. What the parent is saying by putting the sticker on the car is that autism is a bad thing that disables the child when in most cases it doesn't have serious negative affects. I have autism and I wouldn't say it desperately affects me. Not getting angry, I'm just informing.

If you drop trash, try to spray graffiti, don't behave in a restaurant etc. in Northern Europe, you will be told in your face to sort yourself and your kid out, not by staff, by strangers. It would be unthinkable to do that in some countries and those countries are usually drowning their streets in trash

Load More Replies...Too many terrible parents raising monsters. Destroying toy stores and disrespecting other people around them. These parent are extremely lazy leaving diaper ever where and letting their kids do what ever they want. Sad!
If more people spoke up to people like this maybe it would stop. I use to work in retail and I can't tell you how many times I told the parents they will need to clean up after their children. I'ts not ok to leave a store trashed like that.
My neighbour leaves dirty nappies, cigarette butts, anything that drops on the stairs (rubbish or liquid, it doesn't matter) in the block of flats where I live. Only two flats in the building - mine and hers. I own mine, she rents. I asked her once to keep the place tidy and she EXPLODED at me, calling me disrespectful. Reported her to her landlord a hundred times. Nothing happens. I have to constantly clean up after her and there is nothing I can do about it. It's so depressing.
Oh, that's grim. Though don't stop complaining - the landlord might get sick of it eventually. Take daily photos of the mess and send them regularly (weekly?) as proof. If you are genuinely depressed get your doctor to write a letter as evidence of how much this is harming you. Definitely do not clear up after her - if she knows you'll deal with it why would she? I expect the landlord may be relying on that as well. It will be horrible for you but you need to stand strong. I'd only suggest keeping her mess in her area. Don't shove things into her house or do anything that she could use against you should the landlord take legal action to evict her. You need to appear to be above all accusations that you have contributed to the mess or caused her any problems. I really hope that this gets resolved for you. Bad neighbours have a massive impact on a persons life. Sending hugs. Good luck.

What is this obsession with changing your baby on literally any flat surface and leaving dirty nappies anywhere that they'll fit? My son has delays due to his autism and was in nappies until he was 4. I never, ever changed him anywhere other than in a toilet or baby change room and I always put the dirty nappy in a bin. There's no excuse.
Please don’t make messes in thrift shops. Is hard to clean up and just because someone owned it before you does not mean that you get to use it without buying it, just like a regular toy store
Unfair to the shop and for the future owners of the toys too!

This whole article is just so judgmental. I’m so over publicly shaming people. Yes there are a******s in the world, but there’s also people who make mistakes, have struggles or issues we know nothing about that might be contributing factors...now random internet people get to judge them? For what I guarantee the a*****e parents DONT CARE. They won’t change, and calling them out on poor behaviour will probably encourage more of it. On the flip side a viral photograph of a women struggling with postpartum depression that made a bad judgement call could end her life over this s**t. Stop shaming people online. If you have an issue with someone’s behaviour talk to them 😡😡😡
Were is the staff, specially in the toy stores? I would have told them any damages you will be paying for.
I feel bad for the kids in most of these - they act like brats because they have bad parents, and they won't end up doing so well in the future if it continues
To the people who are saying, “Tell them not to do it,” I'll ask you one thing; if these people were considerate enough to listen, I don't think most of the posters would have had to snap a photo of them.
Public shaming is powerful though. If other people see you calling the a*****e out, the a*****e will get embarrassed.
Load More Replies...I feel sad seeing this because some of these pictures are just evidence of a child trying to get attention. They're destroying things because they think it might make their parents notice them, and in these pictures it looks like many were unsuccessful, considering they didn't make their kids clean it up. It's sad to think that a child feels neglected enough to destroy everything around them for attention.
I once worked in a small shop. A car pulled up outside and a kid no older than 7 walked in. He wandered about the shop before he went back to the car and they left. Afterwards I found a discarded can of whipped cream, it looked like it had been used. I checked the CCTV and saw the kid walk right up to the cream and proceed to empty the whole;e contents down his throat and then walk out!
My message to the douchebag parents: You gave birth to these kids, the rest of us don't have to like them or love them. When you bring them out in public, you damn sure better be paying attention to them and not your phone. Teach them to be respectful to the people around them and to the places you take them. If you can't do this then stay your dumb a*s at home with your spawns of Satan. Pick up your dirty diapers or you may find them chucked at your head, car or kid if you don't, would you like if it we put a pile of c**p on you? " As for people who just stand around and watch people do these things, SPEAK UP! confront people and call them out on the horrible behavior.
I’d genuinely like to know in what world you think it acceptable to throw a dirty diaper at a child.
Load More Replies...I don't understand why the people taking these pictures don't say something. Perhaps they did, but the captions make it sound like they didn't. Or even let a person of authority know what is going on.
It depends a lot on the country. The level of tolerance to this kind of s**t varies greatly. I spent some days in Austria last January, and I saw a man, just a normal man, order a woman to pick up an empty packet of cigarettes she has just dropped. In Spain, where I live, I rang the local police some weeks ago because a group of drunk teenagers were banging some of those orange "traffic cones" against the walls and the parked cars and the policeman told me they were just young people having fun and it was normal because they were drunk.
Load More Replies...A lot of people seem to have skilled themselves in being absolute douchebags. But I also see al lot of situations were management could do things to stop douchebags from being douchebags. But I guess this "Customer is king" thing has become an uncontrollable monster with 15 ugly heads , eating spineless managers as a snack. 10 to 15 years ago people would be confronted on their littering and vandalising on the spot. Today we take pictures and post them on BP so we can all be upset and disgusted. Perhaps we need to stop taking pictures and start talking.
What bothers me the most is the parents letting kids play on memorials and the Roman mosaic, Those are special structures that are for you to look at and remember, not a playground or sidewalk!
In Aust you can report the people that dump trash from/near their cars ( [don't be a "t****r"] campaign) but I don't know about in the restaurants etc. that's just nuts. kids are a product of their environment...as well as the food they're are fed. I've seen a mother give her lil kid Red Bull then try and tell him to settle down when he was running around and jumping on chairs etc in a food court. you asked for it lady
A one time mess up doesn't make them bad parents though. I'm sure in many cases they didn't know and WOULD reprimand their kids and help clean up or pay for the damage. No one has their eyes on their kids 24/7 especially as they become older .
I bet most of these happened in us. Here in northern/western europe we tell them to behave themself
After seeing these, I'm starting a crowdfunding for me to invent a new way to stop twats like this from reproducing. It's birth control in blow dart form - who's in?
I like the idea but isn't it a bit too late? If you can come up with a way of spotting who will be the crappy parents prior to any children being born then I'm definitely in. Though I expect they look just like any normal human being... sigh.

Vile, disgusting people. When I think about the ludicrous, patronising and time consuming hoops that childless couples have to go through in order to adopt simply because they want to be devoted, responsible parents. And then consider there are so many out there who frankly shouldn't be permitted to have children. The world is a depressing place.
We really need a new plague to clean the mess that humanity has become.
Plagues don't tend to be very selective - we don't want good parents and well behaved children wiped out!

I think Bored Panda is exaggerating in some of the titles! Also some parents should not be parents! But they don't teach you how to be a good parent at school!@!
Wow, I had no idea that this was as big an issue as it seems to be! The ones where the parents let the kids destroy toy isles or run rampant is bad enough, but changing diapers on the table at a restaurant (let alone in public view of others) is just way to disgusting for me! I guess it's a good thing I've never been witness to any of this because I'd have had to say something...to the people, to management, somebody

This makes me angry. I don’t know why I look at people being d***s.
I feel like most of these could have been resolved if the photographers spoke up. Obviously it shouldn't occur to begin with, but people are so afraid to speak up for what's right, and prefer instead to shame anonymously on social media.
I watched a women put her non therapy dog in her purse and go into the grocery store! The clerk said the store has given up trying to enforce no pets. They sneak the mute in anyway. I hope it pooped in her purse. I wish these little old crones would just leave the mute at home.
I had to give up . This sort of s**t gets my blood boiling. I'm a loud mouthed jerk when I see this stuff in real life. I've told off MANY rude theater goers, folks throwing trash when their are LITERALLY a few feet away from a garbage can and so much more. It's amazing to me that kids and parents are just so nasty. It starts at home, it's deplorable. Let them go to one of those countries for a visit where you can't even chew gum in public and see what happens to them there. Fines and jail time. Should be the same here but it's not... and it's a shame.
If seems these parents are too stupid to raise their children properly, and are inconsiderate of others.
Humans obviously evolved into two different species, those who do/allow stuff like this and those who don't.
I don’t know why I read these articles when I know I’m going to end up with an elevated heart rate due to anger, frustration, and utter bewilderment that “parents” actually allow (and participate) this to happen...I guess, like many, I enjoy a good train wreck. It’s so absurd. These people are why we cannot have nice things.
The common thread/theme here is: Lack Of Respect. I honestly don't know how or where these adults were brought up. Totally shocking! There seems to be no discipline or respect taught these days.
Unexpected consequences of not beating the child severely enough or often enough... I'm not suggesting that children be abused, but the term "Child Abuse" has been way over used... and this is the result... FACT: Pain is a wonderful teacher... you do something wrong, you suffer a little pain as a result... you don't do whatever it was that caused that pain again. FACT: The pre-frontal cortex of the human brain controls, among other things, logic, reasoning, and behavior... and it is NOT properly formed in humans until they reach around age 25... which is why seemingly intelligent young adults do dumb s**t. As a kid, if I did wrong, my a*s was tore up... I learned from it... I didn't become "damaged", mentally ill or harmed in any way outside of a little soreness and some dented pride... and as a direct result of my upbringing, I am a law abiding, intelligent, polite and, as far as I can tell, decent human being. Discipline is sorely lacking in today's world.
I blame the stores, and restaurants!! They kiss the butts of these a******s!! Speak up. Toss em out!
Years ago, my neighbors had a birthday party at a local Souplantation. It was hands down one of the worst experiences I had ever had. I liked the people and the kids but that day....the kids were TERRORS. They formed a feral pack, ran around the restaurant screaming and throwing food, messing with the decor - one stood on tbr
Errrgh!! Stood on the table. The parents just ignored them like nothing at all was going on. Several of us tried to step in to no avail. We left just disgusted - and really surprised because the parents weren't normally like that. One of my other neighbors, who happened to be the best friend of the mother told me later that as much she loved them, she was NEVER going out with them as long as the kids were going. It was just a shitshow.

Disgusting! So many stupid people...everywhere. Lack of education and common sense!
Im not sure who i dislike more. The culprits, or the cowards behind the phones not speaking up
They are cowards because they don't want a confrontation with a potentially violent parent?? WTF? No-one should have to put themselves at risk of getting punched! Not even the poor staff although they should have managment or security staff to back them up so that they can stop this from happening. The only thing the person watching has a responsibility to do is to get the correct people to deal with things. In the meantime film the perpetrators so that there is irrefutable proof that they were the cause.
Load More Replies...I could only go till #20. This is so irrating and disappointing at the same time. I guess a lot of them did not become parents by choice and a lot of them just don't care. I'm a fairly new parent and I sincerely learnt from this post so thank you Op.
years ago when I had a video store - the adults would go looking for a movie and the little kids would start climbing the shelves - after cleaning up and probably preventing the kid from breaking their neck, the adults came to check out saying "It's so nice to be able to look around for a movie in peace and quiet"
Can we stop just taking pictures and actually say something to people, please?
i have my first one on the way, so we will see what we do, but i have seen a real issue with many friends' infants/toddlers and their reliance/addiction to ipads/smartphones. it is beyond unhealthy. i get its easier than dealing with an unruly kid, but is it worth it?!
Firstly congrats! Sadly research shows tech is a large problem as it is addictive. Small children shouldn’t have them & older children with restrictions around use. Another issue is parents remembering how they didn't like 'being told’, hated the restrictions they had & don’t want to do that to their own child. They forget that their parents did the tough stuff so that they grew up to be a decent human being. That is the responsibility of a parent. You will do things that your child won’t like but that’s part of life. We all do things we don’t want to. So many seem unwilling to put in the effort to teach children manners, right from wrong & so forth. Children only have the people around them to learn from & they learn by example. It's why small children like to copy a parent as they go about the housework. Strict bedtime routines are another thing that seems to have gone out of the window & yet tired children don't learn very well or behave very well...

But I went to my local conservation zoo for the second time in 30 years, and this time never once heard one parent tell the kids not to touch the glass. Every single display was so smudged, you could barely see. The kids would all run up to every display, flatten themselves and their hands against it, and not one parent said anything. Doing it also blocked the view for people standing behind. People just don't think. You should teach your kids to do what makes things work best if everyone does it.
Parents need to control their crotch fruit or stay the f**k out of public places. Better yet - DON'T BREED MORE TWATS!!
I'm all for Autism Awareness, my son lives with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. HOWEVER; I do NOT take him somewhere that I know will overwhelm him to the point of meltdown, I have taught him manners and enforce them both at home and in public, and honestly he behaves better in public than the majority of people around him. I don't see why people have such problems with their children, other than plain laziness.

When these kids get older their parents will swear up and down that they have no idea why their children act the way they do, and that they became horrible kids overnight....like they had absolutely nothing to do with how they were raised. Each year these kids will get worse and worse. Have mercy on our future.
The entire world is facing extinction due to human overpopulation and now this?
Not everyone who is biologically capable of creating children is actually a parent. None of these people seem to be! These are the reason why I miss restaurant smoking sections, I'm not a smoker but I prefer 2nd hand smoke to sitting near most children.
This is why everyone who isn't a s**t tastic parent should carry around a spray bottle and keep the nossle to "stream" at all times.
What I don't understand is how people can be so judgmental instead of offering to help these parents. The simple action of offering to help an overwhelmed parent conveys the message that it is NOT OK to behave in this manner. Taking a photo and shaming online is the coward's way, and solves nothing.
My mom taught me respect. That's whats missing today. Now, being a mom myself, I will never tolerate such behavior and teach him respect. If I had even tried to behave like these kids, my mom would have kicked my a.. so hard her shoe would still be stuck there. I'm 36 now
Why do you keep calling it "anti social things"? And why do you keep throwing a fit about this article? Just make a post about men doing this if you care this much about it. No one is saying only women do stuff like this lol
Load More Replies...Obviously just because you are capable of producing a kid does not mean you are capable of being a parent.
Also it shows we're not bad at all by comparison. Sometimes you have days you think you're not good enough and you're trying your best and then you see this and you're like nope, I'm doing way better than this xD although it's still very sad we have to co-exist with this.
Load More Replies...These photos only confirm me that people are too stupid, there are too many of them and I hate them.
Repeat after me: "I promise to always use headphones while in public..."
I use headphones in my own home (unleash its the tv) because our walls are so thin. and I like loud music.
Load More Replies...I bet that the only confrontation these people got was someone taking a picture while trying to be unnoticed. If you drop trash, try to spray graffiti, don't behave in a restaurant etc. in Northern Europe, you will be told in your face to sort yourself and your kid out, not by staff, by strangers. It would be unthinkable to do that in some countries and those countries are usually drowning their streets in trash
In America you get bitched out and called a Karen.
Good luck.
Load More Replies...My response to each and every picture.... what is WRONG with people??!!
Load More Replies...I was walking outside of a mall food court and into the parking lot with my infant son in a stroller when I noticed a 3 year old had joined us. I looked behind me and couldn’t see his parents so I took the little boy back inside and he walks to his parents table. They didn’t realize he left and hardly looked up when he came back.
Though I expect they look just like any normal human being... sigh.
Load More Replies...For the ones in the restaurant ask for a manager and cancel your order because of the disruptive or unsanitary conditions. Most of the time they will kick the family out. Airplane - unsecured children tell the attendant you need a police officer to meet the gate because you are mandated reporter and need to report the neglect and endangerment.
Load More Replies...It was years ago when George Carlin told the world what does deitfying kids do. We live in the child worship culture. It's nearly Gilead.
Why do people keep quoting George Carlin? There seems to be just as many c**p things he said as good. Not criticising, just curious. Never heard of him before seeing quotes on Bored Panda.
Load More Replies...I know parenting is hard. Since I have two stuborn children oh and I'm single at that. But somehow I feel like I'm a better parent then these guys.
It seems that there are, far too many, morons raising kids, they should never have had !!!
That many parents, there must have been a bus load that came down from their mountain shack !!!
I'm pregnant and sometimes get worried if I'm going to be a good mother.... At least I can feel better knowing I'll be worlds better than these pieces of s**t.
Load More Replies...seriously, I feel like some people think that because they have a kid now, they are most important people on the planet and other people doesn´t matter... I´m so glad when I see parents with well behaved children or parents just explainig their children that people should respect each other....I hope these children will grow into decent people, even though they parents have no shame
Load More Replies...These are all really blatant examples, and most hopefully are the exception to the rule.
I don't see why people have such problems with their children, other than plain laziness.
duuuuuude i wouldnt be able to sit for a week if i did some of the things these kids did.
Why? There are crappy parents the world over. I'm not an american but I do feel for them being constantly picked on.
Load More Replies...there is always going to be people like this everywhere you go. you can tell them to control their kids but most likely tell you to f**k off and don't tell me how to raise my kids. apparently back in the day, it was okay to yell at and smack other people's kids when they were doing something bad in public.
