Painting Helps Me To Manage Daily Life With Schizophrenia, Here Are My 16 Dragons In Watercolor (16 Pics)
I'm an artist who loves painting whimsical and fantastical things. I love making people smile. I have dabbled in every medium from oil paints to digital. I don't feel like one should be constrained by medium—I enjoy experimenting with all of them. I'll use whatever medium I feel best suits the project I am working on. Right now, it is dragons in watercolor. I chose watercolor because I wanted to capture the feeling of the old-fashioned scientific illustrations that I love. After I feel like I have made enough dragons, I plan on gathering the paintings into a book.

Wild Iris Dragon
Painting and drawing is something I have always done, but I never imagined that people would want to buy my art. My husband saw the potential for me to turn art into my job, and now he sells my artwork out of our little pop-up gallery. I have to admit, he had to drag me kicking and screaming into giving selling my art a chance, and I am glad he did.
Fairy Dragon
Cherry Blossom Dragon
Being a freelance artist is the perfect job for me because I have a serious illness, schizophrenia, and I never know when I will be able to work. So, I just need to be my own boss. I'm not going to lie, being schizophrenic and just surviving what it does to you day after day is a full-time job.
Pearl Sided Forest Dragon
Wow, this is absolutely stunning. I would literally hang all of these on my walls if I could.
Copper Scaled Dragon
Your dragons are SPECTACULAR!! I would love to have a dragon of my own!
I am lucky enough to have a lovely art studio in my home and a great studio partner―a quaker parrot named Chibi. Chibi is always there to make sure my pencils and brushes are on the ground and that my papers have nibbles on their corners. His most important job is to put a smile on my face, and he does that well.
Ruffled Forest Dragon
Lesser Crested Dragon
Fallen Leaf Dragon
The eyes, the pose, everything about this says red squirrel to me. Cute!
Green Crested Dragon
Orange Winged Dragon
This reminds me of fall. Why hasn't anyone comented this one? It's beautiful.
Blue Maned Dragon
Great Blue Water Dragon
Tufted Moss Dragon
Ruby Footed Dragon
Rose Winged Mountain Dragon
Leaf Scaled Dragon
You should do a book, a children's book with these beautiful characters!
you should start a graphic novel/picture book/comic, these are amazing!
Thank you, I want to turn them into a book, kind of like birding books!
Load More Replies...If I was better at model making I’d love to make each one of these into a 3D model for you. They are absolutely gorgeous and I envy such amazing talent. Please keep doing more! ❤️💙💛💚🧡💜
Omg WOW these are AMAZING the colours and everything about them is AMAZING
Truly beautiful! I would buy them as a book, individual paintings or sculpture!!
These are truly beautiful. You have an amazing talent. Do you draw unicorns as well? If you do I'd love to see them☺♥
Has anyone told you how amazing you are? You deserve a peaceful little cabin in the woods with two pets that also happen to be your favorite animals, and a little burbling stream with fresh, cool water. A place where the sun almost always shines, but when it rains the Earth feels so peaceful. Little birds dart through the leaves of the trees and sing just for you each morning. You have a ladder that goes up to the roof where if you lay down in just the right place, you can see a million stars at night. Happy fluffy clouds drift calmly through the bright blue sky, and a gentle breeze plays with your hair. Yes, you deserve all of it.
I looove dragons, never gonna outgrow that either! These were BEAUTIFUL, CarrieAnn! Thank you for sharing your stunning dragons with us! Thank you! ❤
One more comment... I've painted on this kind of paper, with water colors. Water color paints and painting, is one of the hardest mediums to master! I found it extremely frustrating when I was younger. The fact you have drawn these, and, and painted them in the water color medium? Well, that makes you extremely talented as an artist. Please keep learning and do this! You are wonderful at it!
Kombatbunni? Go for it! You'll only get better with each model you make! If you love it, make it happen! This, could be a great career making moment! :)))
Beautiful! You are very talented! Your color and shading is amazing! I know many people without schizophrenia, that do paint the pictures or colored pencil things to deal with stress! To do this, uses a part of your brain not engaged while you hear voices, or have the awful thoughts. One reason I am sure, that art, and music, which I believe, is just another form of art, soothes the wild souls. Keep up this wonderful art. And kudos to you, for helping to find a way to deal with your mental illness. People only hear the bad stories, not the ones where good happens, and how many people deal with mental illness. It's only fearful, because no one puts it out there, as something that needs more understanding and acceptance. There might be many less volatile situations with police, if they knew how to deal, and friends and families, also. So, in all caps, I say...THANK YOU! I deal with depression and anxiety, and am lucky medication works well. So, keep putting this in front of all!
I love how each dragon has their own name, it seems like they could be real! So beautiful!
