We all have our moments. And Louis the cat just had his. Recently, he became one of the most popular kitties on the internet. However, Louis himself isn’t too happy about it. You see, it all happened because of his depression. But don’t worry, this story ends on a happy note.

When his owner, PaladinAmber, noticed that Louis wasn’t feeling too well, she got really scared. The little furball wasn’t eating, sleeping, drinking… She thought he was dying. So she did what every caring human would do; she took him to the vet. Luckily, they reassured PaladinAmber that Louis wasn’t going to pass away anytime soon. He was just very, very sad that some other cat whooped his ass.

Continue scrolling to learn more about the situation from PaladinAmber’s Twitter thread that has already received over 823K likes!

Louis came into his owners’ lives in a non-conventional way. Years ago, he was found rolling around inside the outside recycle bin. He was invited into the house that day and never left. He’s around ten years now, and he’s getting to that age where he’s naturally slowing down.

“He is a soft and sweet introvert, he keeps to himself mostly but will sometimes sneak up behind me while I’m hanging out washing to play and roll around,” PaladinAmber told Bored Panda. “He’s also sometimes an asshole, with his literal asshole and he’ll try and put his butt on as many things as he can.”

Louis’ typical day starts with waking up in one of two places, his outside box or out from under the bed. He then usually snacks on some biscuits for breakfast with his humans, and later might sit outside on this old tree stump or climb on the dining table and lounge around there for a while.

“Louis might go off on an adventure or he‘ll wait until we take the dogs for a walk and then follow behind ever step of the way. Then he’ll snack yet again on dinner and return to either spot to sleep so he can wake back up and do it all over again.”

But it might not have been the first fight Louis had. “Louis occasionally has come home with a mark on his ear or a small bite on his face,” PaladinAmber said. “But every time we take him to the vet and get him checked out, Louis is an outdoor/indoor cat and so we know that the risks of that are fighting, infection, even cat aids so we take him to the vet whenever something seems off.”

This time, the owners waited two days because he was still eating his wet food and in the evenings he would take baby sips from the dog’s water. “It wasn’t until day two where he just sat there looking at the water that we decided ‘okay maybe something is up,’ we kept a very close eye on him over those two days though.”

“Louis is doing absolutely fine and doesn’t really care about his new internet fame because… well, he’s a cat and cats are assholes,” PaladinAmber added.

I have a yellow lab we adopted when she was 4 and she had A LOT of energy. We took her on a hike that was a bit longer than we had been on before and on our way back, she started limping really badly and would lay down every 50 feet or so. We were obviously concerned and felt her leg for any signs of injury and she didn't flinch or try to move her leg when we touched it or tried moving it. We gave her some water and kept encouraging her to keep going and she would get up and limp a little and lay back down. Then we came to a stream and she sprinted to the water and started swimming around. Oddly enough, the limp then totally went away and she was running and jumping around. Looking back we realized she had been limping when she was in the sun and laying down every time she got to shade. She was fine the rest of the hike, she had just gotten a little too hot and she was trying to tell us that the only way she could think of. She also sprained her tail from wagging it to much.

I was once outsmarted by one of my rabbits. He had trouble with his teeth once or twice a year and I knew it was time for the vet when he stopped eating. After a while he knew that and pretended to be eating when I was watching him. He put his head over the bowl and watched me while I was watching him. Clever little fluff.

Last year my 15-year-old cat Nora stopped eating after a vet visit... so I took her back in and they ran all these expensive tests. It turns out she stopped eating because she was pissed I had taken her to the vet (the first time). GEE THANKS NORA.

When my cat was a kitten, she got punch in the eye by an adult cat while playing. It was hard for her to open that eye for a few days, we gave her ample attention during that period. Snuggles, treats, baby talks. Since then now 7 years later, she will have one eye closed when she feels we are ignoring her. How we know she is faking it? The eye that closes switches from one to the other.

I had a cat who loved to sleep on the floor in the middle of tbe room. Once I got up to go to bathroom in the middle of the night. It was dark i didn't see him so I kicked him by an accident. I was so afraid something happend to him because he was looking at me blurry, that I took him stright to the vet. 2 hours, 2 cab rides, an emergency night care visit at vets and abot 150$ later I got to know that he was sleepy ans suprised I woke him up...:)

Did something similar with my dog - she sometimes would pick random parts of the carpet to sleep on during the night and I once tried wriggling my slipper on to discover it was actually my dog I was poking my toes into. I'm rubbish when I first wake up!! We ended up gettting night lights so we could see where she was on the floor! Mad dog - she had two perfectly good beds to choose from or could have joined the other dog on our bed!

One of my former cats had an ear infection. She doubled up her ear. I gave her a treat. When it was over and I asked does your ear still hurt, she folded(?) it again. Till one day she used the other ear. No treats any more. (sorry for the bad English)

A horse in the riding school, who was limping for a long time after an injury. Nobody knew why - everything healed quickly enough - until one day the trainer noticed he was changing the lame leg so people could see better just in how much pain he was. Guess, someone needed a longer sick leave.

Years back, I took my rabbit to the vet because he was losing clumps of fur. The vet tried to keep a straight face as she gave me the diagnosis, "It's spring. Your rabbit is moulting." She didn't charge me a cent -- unintentional comedy was payment enough.

My beautiful 2.5 year old cat, mother of 5, born December 12 died three days ago. January 8. I'm grieving and the pain hurts so much. She was so alive. She played that day. She jumped up onto the table to eat, took a bite and with a look of surprise in her eyes collapsed. She died in the car ride to the emergency room. $315 for taking her in and telling us she died. She was already dead before they took her. Her partner, our male cat, loved her more than anything. She was the world to us all and now she's gone. I don't know if he understands if she's gone, because he sees the kittens, he calls for her, lies near them, but maybe he believes she won't leave them behind. It happened so fast. She was so healthy before but all of a sudden dead. No signs of illness. I'm in distress. A mother, a partner, a child and a friend. She loved us so much and she would always talk with us. What a wonderful and kind cat. I miss her so much

I feel SO sorry for you.It is heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet and yes,the pain is unbearable and it will take a long time to get over it.You won´t forget ever, but it gets better in time.I have had to say goodbye to 3 much loved pets the last 7 years, but as I adopt greyhounds that have had traumatic pasts with sometimes unbelievable abuse, unfortunately they do not «last« as long as I could wish. In your case you do have a silver lining. The 5 babies she left behind and that is a beautiful gift she left you,,,and the daddy cat.My warmest wishes for you and the little family that all will be well.

I had a cat that would pretend to be dying (laying on his side, breathing heavily, groaning) until I turned the air conditioning on. Had a dog who was walking around nonstop and whining; after blood work and an x-Ray found out he had really bad gas.

My neighbors has a grey cat she adopted named Cary. The neighbor's husband is also in a wheelchair from a stroke he had several years ago. She sometimes has a hard time getting him in and out of bed due to the paralysis down his right side. So every now and then, he ends up on his butt on the floor..no way to get him up..she can't lift him. So in come the EMT's to lift him back up. And every time they come, Cary jumps up on the back of the recliner in the living room waiting for each EMT to pass her..purring and letting them pet her as her way of saying thank you...

I think cats are just acting like themselves. Sometimes they are drama queens and we can't figure out what they are doing. If we were cats we would know how they feel, and why they do what they do, but we are not cats so we have no clue what they are going through. This is what that shows.

We put a flea collar on one of our cats, made sure it was an ok fit, all fine. One day, my partner came home to find the cat lying on her side in the litter tray refusing to move. She checked the collar, still not too tight. She panicked and called the vet for advice, suggested the collar be removed. Bloody cat was fine as soon as my partner undid the buckle. She was playing dead in protest... sodding cat! We were just happy she was ok.

My cat doesn't so much pretend to be ill to get attention, but he has learned to perfectly mimic the cry of my baby daughter. Very disconcerting. I think she's asleep in her cot and suddenly she's crying under my desk. He's just doing it for attention, it's hard work sharing a mummy.

So I had a cat as a kid who was, to put it delicately, not very bright. She literally fell off the riding lawn mower, the PARKED riding lawn mower, and broke her elbow. She went to the vet and everyone made a fuss over her. We made a fuss over her at home too. Lots of extra attention and whatnot. I also had a German Shepherd who really was smart. She started limping on the same front foot. I did a cursory exam and she seemed fine. I assumed she was just mimicking the cat for attention. It got worse though so I checked her again. What initially looked like a piece of dirt was actually the base of a huge thorn in the pad of her foot. I felt SO guilty.

This is scary when pets act out like this. I had an hyperactive kitty that one day had a stroke. His left side started to go limp so I ran immediately to the vet to put him down. I did not know at the time, that cats survive many strokes, but I've never had a cat that experienced this. I didn't want him to suffer so I ordered him to be put down. My coworker later told me about cat strokes.I wish the vet could have warned me.

Cats that don't eat can actually make themselves sick, especially if they're a little plump to begin with. Failure to eat for even a couple of days can bring on feline hepatic lipidosis. In such case a trip to the vet is a sensible precaution. https://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/digestive/c_ct_hepatic_lipidosis

I feed stray Cats and then the Chickens eat the cat food the Frogs eat the cat food and at night the snails are hanging off the plate the cat food is on. The Cats are chased away by Roodie the Rooster. He comes with his band of hens and starts crowing for cat food morning and night. What a kick I get out if it.

My 18 year old Macaw suddenly was making high pitched crying sounds. We thought he was dying and couldn't wait for the avian vet to open. He was even letting my partner pet him - which never happens between the two of them. Well, a few hours later he laid an egg the size of a chicken egg!!! He is not a he, but a she!!!!! Reminds me of a pet cat I had. This cat had been through the wars. Definitely lost a couple of his 9 lives through being knocked over, attacked by dogs and all this culminated in his inability to control his dream movements. When dreaming he'd be literally kicking and running etc! It was funny but what a cat!! Survived such trauma. Anyway one day he started drooling uncontrollably. We thought "ah well, it's no surprise. He's had a tough life" and that the diagnosis the vet would give would be a tumor, or a stroke or something. Turns out that our €150 vet visit simply told us that our cat had found a chicken carcass somewhere, eaten it, got a bone stuck in his upper palette and was unable to close his mouth therefore he couldn't control his spit!! Vet removed the bone, all was well! Our cat ran away at some stage a few years later. I'm sure he's dead now but golly what a great cat!!!

The cat we had when I was in high school stopped eating, stopped playing, and was just laying in the middle of the floor. We thought she was dying. My mom called the vet's emergency number at 10 at night. The vet asked my mom to put her ear on the cat's side and listen to her breathing. The cat started purring. Turns out she had a cold and was just being super dramatic. She still is, in fact. Any time that cat gets a cold, she acts like she's dying.

Had a cat 🐱 bonded to me, HATED my ex. If we were arguing or he was ranting @me, the cat would find something of his and pee on it! When I was pregnant and couldn't do litter boxes and they'd get nasty, cat would drag his items to hide a stinky surprise next to his chair. Smart cat.

The picture of Teddy reminds me of my black tom, I named Mr. Cryinski (he meowed like a kitten, and we lived in a Polish neighborhood). Once he was fighting with another tom and as they were locked up while fiercely fighting they jumped over the fence. (?). It was spring, snow was melting, a lot's of mud everywhere. Mr. Cryinski came home all muddy, the usual wiping off the muddy paws was not enough, so to the shower he did go.....and boy, he did not like it!

Have two cats. One is a Queen, never eats more than I give her; very little treats and her sleep is the most importan thing to her. The other one, oh God. She is chubby since she was 6 months old. She is her food, the food that my other cat doesn't eat and my dog's food too. One time she then from been my chubby gal to this skinny cat. Rush to the vet. Yeah, her kidneys were failing. Three weeks in the hospital, a bill that I still didn't believe but the funny thing is, today she is chubby as always and she LOVES the food for her kidneys.

My in-laws have a maltipoo who fakes a paw injury for attention, or just if she doesn't want to walk anymore. The best part is that she often forgets which paw is injured and will switch paws without realizing it.

I sent this to my family about 8 months before our 20yr old cat JJ finally passed, but it was just so hilarious how he played us. Casee is my sister and Jasper is our dog. So... I got home and JJ wasn't begging for food.  I was a little worried, but tried not to panic.  I called for him and looked around, but couldn't find him.  I didn't want to worry Casee, so i waited until right before bed before I asked if she'd seen him.  And of course she started panicking and we started frantically looking for him.  finally found him in jasper's crate...sleeping.  Tried to feed him, but he wasn't interested.  Was worried, but nothing we could do, so we made plans for Casee to call Banfield this morning to schedule appointment for saturday. This morning?  Begging for food like normal.  Punk. i think he had gas.

Years ago, I had a cat that began to have what seriously looked like epileptic fits. We were young and broke but I scraped together the funds and brought her to the vet where she spent 2 days having every test in the book done... $350 later (equivalent then of around $1000 now)- vet says, she's perfectly fine - she's just a drama queen. We had recently taken in another rescue and she was ANGRY - so every time Pippin, the other cat, came on the bed, she would suddenly starting "seizing". She tried it that night, I whacked her a*s, she stared at me in shock, started to shake her leg again, lifted my hand, she stopped and that was the end of it!

Why is this animal not inside its owners property anyway. Pets should remain on within owners property and not moping about the neighbourhood killing birds and lizards and causing mischief.

In your case you do have a silver lining. The 5 babies she left behind and that is a beautiful gift she left you,,,and the daddy cat.My warmest wishes for you and the little family that all will be well.

I had a cat once who wouldn't do what I tried to teach it. I had it put down and got a dog instead.
