Option 4 In Canada

Hello readers, I am a Singaporean mum living in Vancouver for the past 6 years.

As Canada continues battling the pandemic, and is still doing poorly job, no one is spared from this insanity.

Responsible citizens are doing that they can to not burden the country, whereas Canadian politicians are going for overseas holiday when they are telling everyone to stay home.

Not only has the government done poorly, even the educational sector is mirroring their politicians in doing a half arsed job.

This is our story.

You know, it’s just a piece of paper report. But what we are fighting for, is to abolish the bigot mentality of the system here.

I even told the Vice Principal actually what we need is a sincere apology from her and the form teacher, admit that they made mistakes (which we caught them red handed) and then find solutions together and move on.

Of course, the Vice Principal dismissed me again.

Can you imagine me raging at an eldery white caucasian woman yesterday on the phone yesterday? Ha, this is what living in Canada does to you.

We actually got the call from the Vice Principal yesterday at 4 pm, ‘coz we complained to the school board.

Dear People Of Planet Earth, please send me trusthworthy reporters if you know of any, here in Vancouver, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, New Zealand etc. ‘coz we are already writing to the newspapers here.

Actually, people of power always get away scot free – just look at the government of Canada.

How can 7 public schools students not be marked at all just because that they choose Option 4? Something to think about. I wish the rest of Canada is like where you are from, 2 new cases per day, often zero.

I also live in Canada and where I am masks are mandatory in schools as well as in public and our compliance is such that we now have less than 2 new cases a day, often zero. Singapore seems to be struggling as well with Covid related issues, even a year later , however those struggles seem to be born by thousands of migrant workers who were housed in dorms of 20 are now down to dorms of 5-15. I am also an immigrant to Canada and am very thankful to be here.

hi The Queen of Upper Butt Crack, I agree with you on the extremely big systemic issue of the migrant workers in Singapore - they helped and is helping us build our Nation, we admit that what we did is extremely wrong, our Government and locals are doing the work in abolishing the wrong system, and we are making the necessary changes to make sure that the rights are in place and carried out for our migrant workers. My post is regarding the Option 4 in Canada. Option 4 kids are not just made up of immune compromised kids, parents or grandparents in their families - Option 4 kids are also made up of families who wanna do their part for Canada. We can afford to stay home and home school, so as to not overwhelmed the already packed, severely understaffed and underfunded school system in Canada. Option 4 families already knew that there will be zero support from the schools and government, anything that is given by the school teachers, are mainly from their own calling. (continued below)

(continue from above) I know the teachers in Canada are severely underpaid and understaffed, they need not go far and beyond, especially during this pandemic. Especially when the people here actually had to sign petitions for them to get the students to wear masks. I don't know which part of Canada you're from, but do you know, In Vancouver, Grade K to 3 students are not required to wear masks. It is so good that whichever part of Canada that you are from, masks are mandatory in schools. How about the kids in Vancouver? How about the teachers and staff in Vancouver? Perhaps you can tell me that transmissions are lower among kids, but as you can see, where you are from cases are 2 per day, often zero. Perhaps this is the reason why? What can we do for the country? Do our part, as seen by a lot of people here who chose to home school, even though they are not immune compromised. There are about 3000 plus kids who opted for Option 4 here; that is equivalent to about 7 public schools.
