Ominous positivity, scientifically speaking, is a more threatening and less toxic form of uplifting than, "Hey, man, just like be positive, man". Have a good day is not a wish, but a demand in ominous positivity communities.
One of them is this Facebook page collecting memes and artwork that makes good times seem inescapable. The page has over 1.5K memes, over 600K followers, and is rated a perfect 5 out of 5 score, which is almost as good as 5/7, if you get the reference.

What is toxic positivity? Well, it is unhelpful positive phrases that don't solve any problem or just create more of them, it makes the comforter feel better, rather than the person in need of help.
my ghost is a dwarf and usually just ends up tasting my butt, then gets angry and smashes s**t
It is well represented by FilmCow's 2008 animation Charlie The Unicorn before the term became mainstream. Without giving away too much plot: two hippie unicorns annoy grumpy unicorn Charlie with their toxic positivity and laid-backness to give in and go on adventures with them, causing him trouble. It can be viewed as a commentary on the worst humanity has to offer, thus, isn't for a sensitive audience, it's very scary.
Well, that's how i survived my 12 years long depression. Despite my constante desire to self terminate, my spite toward all that hurts me pushed me to keep breathing in order to be able to "shove it in their face" one day. But don't worry. It's been overs 8 years since i'm free of depression. And i don't just survive, now i thrive (not on spite but in a real desire to live, thankfully lol).
Why ominous positivity is better? First of all, it is not taken seriously and is more of a funny meme rather than self-help grifting material. It does not deny the existence of one's problems, but try to convince people that there is hope for a positive outcome or that that's the only possible outcome. The latter would be a bit problematic if taken out of meme context.
These memes often involve mythological themes which further distances viewers from taking them too seriously. However, the good faith of the meme creators is unmistakable. These memes are often directly addressing the reader, which makes them feel personal. On top of that, it lets readers know there are people with a genuine love for humanity who are rooting for strangers' wellbeing.
i was following along, step by step, not understanding the discomfort until i realizeed,, oh s**t that says TENTacle.
This page posts and credits a lot of artwork, like short comics and posters giving these artists a chance to grow their follower base. One of the popular styles there is trippy posters with swearing and threats of positivity contrasted with cutesy plush toys.
Do these dark ominous positivity memes make your outlook on the world brighter? Which one was your favorite? Write your own positive curse.
that's pretty vague, you sure you want to do that??? Yeah? Well ALRIGHTY then....*unzips pants*
i prefer to go to walmart, buy a bottle of chocolate syrup, go into the bathroom, squirt it on toilet and stall walls and write "sorry for the mess, it was quite an evening"
Launching lovely legumes is a very responsible, socially distance way to cheer up a friend.

Load More Replies...Now this is wholesome. You don’t know how much you need this stuff till someone comes along and reminds you. Even the strong ones get tired, you know. Even if we don’t show it. Thanks guys, this was super cool.
