This Modelling Agency Is Challenging Fashion Industry By Only Hiring Models Over 45, And They Look Unbelievable
In our young-and-sexy obsessed society, it has become all too easy to overlook the beauty and glamour of those who are aging gracefully.
So while Hollywood is busy air-brushing, botoxing and face-lifting in a vain attempt to hold back the inevitable march of time, this Russian modeling agency has decided instead to embrace the beauty of aging in a series of beautiful images.
Appropriately named Oldushka, the agency represents photo models from the age of 45 and above, going up to 85 in some cases. While the fashion industry finally seems to be getting to grips with diversity in model sizes and ethnicity, age is the next barrier to be broken down.
The agency was born from photographer Igor Gavar’s cool photo project, which captured the style of retirees for his blog, also called Oldushka. The vast majority of the beautiful models on their books are over 60, with only the male model, Sergey, coming in at a youthful 45. “I signed him because he is older than he looks,” Gavar told Vogue in an interview.
Oldushka’s older models are getting plenty of work in Russia, appearing in more mainstream catalogues and advertising campaigns, and bringing a whole new generation into the fashion industry. Will it inspire other countries to do likewise and embrace the glamorous side of aging? Let’s see, shall we.

This guy is more like 75, not 45. My grandpa is almost 70 and his hair is still mostly black and he barely has any wrinkles (except his hair is not so full but that happened in his early 50's)

Everyone is commenting on how great they look and it is true but I am also amazed at how they rock their outfits! Admittedly, I thought some of the clothes would never be appropriate for older people but man was I wrong.

This makes me think of Advanced Style. I think it's a blog that a guy started where he began photographing older women who are stylish on the streets and it turned into a pretty successful website followed by a book. It's actually pretty uplifting.

I like the implication that us older folk are not relics we are still here and irrespective of our age or looks we still have much to give. Some in pics and some in a myriad of other ways. Growing older is not a negative thing it has many benefits which you can only know when you are on this path. We are fortunate to be around to enjoy it no matter what some media may want to portray us as.

Now this is what I support in fashion industry,I rarely say that, aging with dignity, nowadays majority can't age without plastic surgery help, that is sad. Problem with fashion industry they always follow unhealthy trends, picking obese models,nothing wrong with naturally chubby or curvy, but they pick ones that are clearly saying being obese,having diabetes and your legs amputated is beautiful,that is wrong, so this is a great turn towards older models,showing that growing old is not that bad and should be done with dignity,that if you take care of yourself,eat healthy,exercise, don't smoke or drink,you will look like this.

I appreciate that there appears to be no photoshopping or soft focus lenses. And since they're almost all old enough to have been children in the 1950s (like I am), I wonder if they too learned to hide under their desks in case of a nuclear exchange when our countries rattled their sabres at each other.
