In the heart of the rural Missouri Ozarks, one middle school bathroom shines bright. Thanks to Kristen Thompson, a full-time nurse, who uses her artistic talents to inspire young girls.

Middle school can be a tough time in a teenager’s life, but an escape to the bathroom no longer has to be a dreary place. With this bathroom’s bright cheerful walls and inspiring messages written on every stall door, it’ll make you smile and wish this was your middle school bathroom.

Kristen embodies the true spirit of volunteerism. She spent about 23 hours on this project and accepts no payment for her beautiful work. Kristen states, “seeing the smile on those girls faces inspires me.” She now hopes to paint the girls high school bathroom and eventually the boy’s, as well.

I for one, am looking forward to seeing more of her work. And hopefully this story will encourage other artists to get involved in their communities to make a difference!
