Ok I'm gonna divert to a different but equally troubling cultural problem here.... Men aren't allowed to have feelings. He's obviously grown up in a toxic situation, and the male role models in his life have put him down for expressing emotion, and I don't know if I completely blame him for thinking women can't have depression since it's widely appropriate for women to openly express feelings. He needs to see a therapist. Badly.
