4 Guys Beg Their Neighbor To Let Them Play With Their Dog, Get A Wholesome Letter In Response

There’s nothing like a wholesome and heart-warming doggo story to raise your spirits and make you smile. Meet Stevie Ticks, a wonderful canine who lives in the United Kingdom and recently made some new friends—four engineers living nearby.

The foursome contacted the dog’s owner, asking whether they could spend some time with her because their landlord doesn’t allow them to have any pets.

In response, they got a letter from Stevie Ticks herself! The envelope even had the doggo’s paw print on the front! Folks, it hardly ever gets more blessed than this.

Bored Panda reached out to Stevie Ticks’ owners Chris and Sarah to talk about their dog, as well as their new friendly neighbors. We also talked to Jack McCrossan who posted the story on Twitter. Scroll down for Bored Panda’s in-depth interviews about Stevie!

They received an unexpectedly wholesome letter…

…from the dog herself!

She said she’d love to play with them!

“Stevie has met up with “the boys” twice now. One brief introduction and then she went to play at the local park together. More adventures in the future I’m sure! They got on so well. Stevie is super friendly all the time, and had always loved meeting new folks,” Chris told Bored Panda.

We wanted to learn all that we could about Stevie, and her owners happily obliged to answer all of our questions. “She’s a 2.5-year-old sheprador. Originally from Cyprus. She was hit by a car, had surgery and was then flown to a shelter in the UK where she was swiftly rescued by me and Sarah. She loves playing tug, chasing birds and licking feet,” Chris revealed.

“We appreciate how difficult it can be owning a dog whilst renting and feel that a positive, friendly and approachable local community is vital,” he talked about the importance of being friendly neighbors. “So if we can share the love a dog gives all the time we should try to follow in her footsteps. We’ve been amazed at the positive response we’ve received from around the world. It’s inspired other people to make contact with their neighbors and share their dogs.”

Meanwhile, Sarah talked to Bored Panda more about Stevie and her traits. “Every time she goes out in the garden in the morning she ‘sings’ to the cats and birds out there. That was partly the inspiration behind her name, as well as the fact that she had tics all over her when we rescued her!”

“Her favorite foods are wasabi, butternut squash, sweet potato, olives, fig rolls, sardines, and courgette cores (my mum is a courgettie spaghetti addict),” Sarah said.

The goodest-girl even has her own Instagram account

“Stevie is a very inquisitive pooch. She loves hanging her head out the window and checking out all the people walking past: that’s how she drew attention to the boys! She’s pretty uncoordinated and is likely to never grow into her paws so there are generally thwaps galore when playing, and she can’t catch anything at all (a ball or a treat!).”

“She has no idea of personal space whatsoever,” Sarah added.

She told us that she and Chris “work shifts for the emergency services. When either of us returns from a night shift the first thing she does is hop onto the sofa and won’t move until you’ve given her at least 10 minutes of belly and ear scritches.”

“She doesn’t like her eyes being cleaned but gets very offended if you don’t let her sniff and eat her own eye boogers. She’s a huge drama queen and we once had to leave a cafe mid-meal and rush her to an emergency vet because she was yelping continually, to find out she had a scratch between her toe beans on her paws,” Sarah revealed just how energetic and full of character Stevie is.

“We were ecstatic at the response and couldn’t wait to walk her,” Jack, who posted the story about the letter from Stevie online, said about the situation. “Once we saw the paw print on the envelope we knew it was good news!”

We wanted to know even more about Stevie and here’s what Jack told us: “She is very energetic, puppy-like and friendly! We got to take her for a walk and she wouldn’t stop running. We’ve all had a mixture of pets from cats and dogs to hamsters, fish and guinea pigs.”

As for why Jack and his friends can’t keep pets at home, it’s very simple. “It’s from our tenancy agreement because it’s in a student/young professional area it’s quite common. The part-time dog-sitting works well since we’re all at work all day anyway! A win-win situation.”

The fantastic news is that Jack and his three housemates met up with Stevie Ticks and they all had a fabulous time together. Jack’s thread on Twitter went viral with over 461,000 people liking the story and over 101,700 internet users retweeting it. Meanwhile, Stevie Ticks, the goodest-girl, has her very own Instagram account with nearly 4,000 followers.

There are some good reasons why some landlords (even those who love animals) don’t let tenants keep pets

This whole friendship never would have happened if Jack and his friends were allowed to keep pets at home. However, this raises the question of why some landlords are so strict when it comes to tenants keeping animals. There are always (at least) two sides to every story and there are some valid reasons why landlords, even ones who love animals, have unbendable rules in place.

First and foremost, there’s the question of cleanliness. As we all know, keeping pets means cleaning after them. Unfortunately, not every owner is capable of doing that. What’s more, some pets damage furniture and their surroundings when not properly looked after.

The other thing is, some pets like dogs can be very loud and disturb everyone in the neighborhood. We all know that doggos are good-girls and good-boys, but some are a bit too vocal and keep everyone up at night. What’s more, after a tenant moves out, the landlord will have to spend additional money to clean the entire house if a pet had been living there.

Lastly, you have to agree that Stevie Ticks’ handwriting is impeccable. I wonder where she learned penmanship? Is there a special school for refined good-girls and good-boys?

This reminds me of the little boy who would sneak into his neighbors garage to play with their dog. He was caught on camera. The neighbors contacted his parents and said he didn't need to sneak around, he was welcome to come play with the dog any time.

I am a professional magician and own two rabbits and four doves and travel a lot, so it is not possible to have a dog. I would love to have a neighbor or friend who would let me walk their dog on occasion. These guys are so lucky and their neighbor is so giving.

That is freaking awesome!! I just met a girl who was pushing two rabbits in a dog stroller. They were so sweet! One of them sat up on its hind legs as I was petting it and let me pick it up. Now I really want one haha
