My partner and I are homeless right now and have been for nearly 16 months. We both suffer badly with mental health issues- depression and anxiety being the main two. The local council have moved us from emergency accomodation to emergency accommodation. One such place had no cooking facilities- we had to make grilled cheese using tinfoil and an iron. At that point we were both Care and Support Workers, visiting vulnerable people in their own homes and looking after them. The living like this has taken its toll on my partner. First he was signed off from work due to his failing mental health and the amount of sick days taken as a result. I am now the only one working and to say life is horrendous is a real understatement. We experienced homophobia in some of the places we stayed. The local authority have told us we may be waiting for our own social housing for up to 3 years. Just a fortnight ago we got into a car accident- we were slammed into a 30mph by by a driver who was too busy texting on her mobile phone to notice what was about to happen, our car has been written off and I now to walk to work, further reducing my working hours. We recently featured in an article on a local news website, which ended up having to turn off commenting due to the amount of hate we were getting. My mental health is going downhill fast and I’m battling suicidal thoughts nearly every single day. One wage packet isn’t enough to support 2 people as due to my health issues I am only working part time. I raised all of this with our local members of governement and they were appalled we are in this situation. My attendance record is abysmal as a result of constantly getting moved. We just can’t catch a break, could you help us? You can read more of our story at https://gofund.me/b2ef0ded

Share on FacebookThis should not be happening in Britain today, Scotland what are you playing at? I know single guys who have 2 bedroom flats given to them by councils in Perthshire.. They are trying to work and support themselves not sponge off the state , but if you are ill you are entitled to some help, seek advice. Surely someone could help out with accommodation? How is the private market in Glasgow? If all else fails hire a rubber dinghy and land on a beach in England, not being able to speak a word of English will get you somewhere, unfortunately.
Hi there! I am very sorry to hear about your current living situation. I am also currently dealing with mental health and suicidal thoughts. I, unfortunately, cannot send money, but I really want to help you both. What can I do to help?
