Every October artists across the globe partake in the annual Inktober challenge hosted by Mr Jake Parker. During this 31 day ink extravaganza we follow his official prompt list, or even create our own. In 2017 I created my own with a Halloween-themed gardening doodles. This year, however, I followed the official prompt list, but with a twist. Instead of paper I doodled onto my collection of dried leaves. (Fitting the Fall theme perfectly)

It wasn’t as easy as I anticipated. Because of the waxy surface of the leaves, the ink didn’t stick, so I ended up getting creative with a Sharpie. Some of the leaves were a little too old and I just ended up poking holes right through them while they crumbled away grimly. Drawing too much detail was out of the question which is why I stuck to simple doodles.

But in the end I managed 31 doodles, so it was worth every minute. I wonder what I should try next year.
