Clay Monsters Helped Me Deal With My Personality Disorder

I started creating these clay monsters 3 years ago. Always fascinated by horror and grotesque art, I started sketching and drawing when I was little.

But I never showed anyone. Somehow I was convinced that my art would disturb people and they’d only criticize me. I was afraid of everyone seeing my inner darkness through my images.

Clay opened a new world to me. I would drift away for hours and work on a monster. I just made them for myself at first. They’ve been my therapy, helping me handling self criticism, anxiety, loneliness and thougts of suicide.

I started therapy soon after I created my first monster and have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder 1,5 years ago.

Each of my monster stands for an emotion I had felt, a struggle I went through or isolation I put my self into. In the end, they helped me realize that the inner darkness was never as dark as I thought.

Each time I was looking into one of their faces, I saw such cute and innocent creatures just looking to be loved.

Just like myself.

Each monster means so much to me and all the positive feedback I get through people caring about them as much as I do, keeps me going. You can adopt all of them and I am happy to do commission work, too.

Working as a freelance artist has given me strength to carry on and I am no longer shy telling my story hoping or afraid of showing my work. I hope, to maybe help one of you out there finding your own heroe in your inner monsters.
