Woman Sees A Moving Garbage Bag On The Road, Stops Her Car To Save It
Last Thursday, Kentucky-based Malissa Sergent Lewis was running late to work, so she decided to take a shortcut. As she was driving, she noticed something unusual – a moving garbage bag. What Lewis found inside was heartbreaking.
“I saw this trash bag in the road, and I thought to myself, ‘Did I just see that bag move?’ The closer I got, I realized it was moving,” Lewis told The Dodo. “I could hardly wrap my mind around that. Something was alive in that bag, and I just knew I had to get whatever it was out.”
Lewis released what turned out to be an abandoned puppy wearing a collar, but no tag. She took it with her and is still trying to find the owners, but there’s a good chance no one will claim it. Therefore, Lewis and her family decided to give it a forever home themselves. The pup, which they named Hefty, is now healthy, happy, and in good hands.

Be mature enough to take responsibility and at least contact an animal shelter. If you cannot even do that, stay away from animals.

I think I would've been a bit hesitant too to open a moving plastic back without knowing what the animal inside might be... Important thing is that she eventually did look inside :)

this is one of my nightmares. i've heard so many stories like this one... trash bags moving, cardboard boxes or garbage bins meowing or barking, this is just insane. congratulation on the woman who actually paid enough attention ...and had a heart.

A few years ago, just after Christmas, I found a dog laying on the sidewalk, his head and front paws wrapped in a grocery bag. I was too late to do anything about it other than cry. I then called the animal hospital to come and get him. The worst part was, the animal hospital was only 2 blocks from where I found him, if they didn't want their dog anymore they could have just dropped him off there, no questions.

THIS is why there need to be STRONG, ENFORCED laws against animal abuse. Not only is animal abuse often a sign of domestic violence and/or child abuse, it is, morally, just as sinful. And if you have allowed unwanted animals to be born by failing to spay or neuter your pets, or a pet doesn't "work out" (although, as a pet lover I cannot understand it), at LEAST have the moral decency to take them to a shelter, where there is at least a chance of adoption or at the very least a humane death. Abandoning an animal in a garbage bag, tying it up or dumping on the side of the road to die a long, painful death of starvation is just plain WRONG.

Stupid cruelty like this makes my blood boil. Earlier this year my dogs found a bunny tucked inside a bag and hidden well out of human sight , destined to starve to death. Luckily, I managed to trace down the owner. I went to the police and first hearing before a judge will be in two weeks. Hopes she gets her a*s kicked.

Such a cruel way to get rid of an animal. If you can't keep your pet for whatever reason, go to a shelter and speak to someone - don't leave them in plastic bags...

WHY WHY WHY drop them off at the pound, a pet store, animals shelter....a person with half a heart will help the pup find a home ... anywhere else but a plastic bag. I just do not get it!

If would be more severe punishments for these garbage people, they will think twice before to do an infraction; but how to be scared if they go on prison like on vacation, with good food, warm bed, telephones, computers, television, study for school and drugs sometimes ? Who have all of these for free outside the prison ???
