This Guy Set 6 Ground Rules Before Taking His Girlfriend To The Movies, And 300,000+ People Shared And Liked It
There’s nothing worse than finally getting to that movie you’ve waited so long for, only for the experience to be diminished by the rude people around you chomping loudly on their chips, chatting to their friends, and constantly checking their phones. Sometimes you just wish there were a little order, a little more respect. Some ground rules maybe.
Perhaps this guy can help. Taken from a funny tweet from a guy named Stanley T, this is the story of an unnamed Avengers mega-fan who did the chivalrous thing and asked his girlfriend first if she wanted to go with him on a movie date to see Infinity War. “Yes dear,” was her reply.
And that’s where the chivalry needed for a perfect date ended. Now, it’s perfectly understandable and acceptable to make it clear that going to see this Avengers movie is an important event and politely ask for a little peace. But Avengers mega-fan really takes the piss on this one. He proceeds to list in no uncertain terms his ‘ground rules’ to poor girlfriend, to the extent that it becomes unclear if he can really be serious or not. We are hoping not. Sheesh, it’s just a frickin movie, bro…
Scroll down to see his hilariously specific demands for the screening of a movie premiere below, and let us know what you think in the comments. Are these ground rules acceptable? Or is he just being a diva and a douchebag? Join the discussion!
People were quick to get behind this idea
But not everybody felt the same way
I think he's "Jokingly Serious". He definitely sounds like somebody who REALLY just wants to enjoy the picture, without distractions. It's his dime, he can spend it anyway he wants. I like his humor.
Ugh... "Grow up. Comics are for teenage boys anyways"? I will never understand why people try to kill passion in others by saying things like that. It's wonderful to be passionate about things, isn't it? Whatever the passion is, childish or not. We all are children after all ;)... Making others feel ashamed in this particular way is so harmful and destructive...
The statement that a genre or artistic media is for a specific audience only also shows about the ignorance and pseudo-intellectualism of the one who claims that. They're diminishing themselves, not the geek/nerd/fan. Because a true smart person knows that 1) although the mainstream might make it seem different, there's a little bit for everyone in the entertainment industry in each genre and each kind of media; 2) film, animation and comics (even some video games) are modern literature in its larger meaning; and 3) even stuff targeted at kids can be very deep and meaningful for adults as well, Ghibli is a very famous example of that.
Load More Replies...I'm embarrassed for all the people who didn't get that lol
Load More Replies...Generally, if you have to ask if it's a joke, it's not funny.
Load More Replies..."Comics are for teenage boys anyways". Coming from a woman who probably still has her collection of stuffed animals and dolls sitting on the shelf and enjoys trashy romance novels for unlovable crazy cat ladies in between viewings of predictable and terribly written Hallmark movies about the return of a childhood crush and lots of internal dialogue about soul searching.
Do you know that person? If not what right do you have to make assumptions about her to make your point? But you're right in the sense that people are allowed to enjoy what they want whatever it is even if is traditionally childish. Heck I'm 43 and I still collect and love unicorns.
Load More Replies...First two rules sound fairly serious, 3 gets slightly silly, and 4-6 are hilarious. This guy has a great sense of humor, and knows how to lighten the mood.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES (if you can't tell, im very excited for this movie)
Load More Replies...Funny how many people can't see the humor and banter he was sharing with his girlfriend. And people decrying comics as being only for teenage boys should be forever alone. No one wants to go to the movies with you anyways Gracie!!
i like this! its clear, with several rewards and consequences outlined. i could both abide by this and enforce this
Question: Does Hawkeye count as a "main" character? I'm sensing he's not going to last long, even if it's not in this movie, maybe the next one... Or the next..
Oh Hawkeye probably won't die (but maybe his family which would be even more tragic and would make me cry) :'(
Load More Replies...He forgot to say that she had to throat punch anyone that crinkled bags and shook cups of ice during the movie.
haha, this is great! Smhhh i hope that one day my boyfriend will do something like this; it's so cute!
He is amazing! I only wish I would have made up those ground rules...jealous!
This mad me laugh but the keep quiet during the movie rule is one of the reasons I dont go see a movie with my wife. We can be watching the same movie for the first time at home and she will ask 1,000 questions as if I had read the script before hand. I applaud him for his sense of humor. Needless to say i wont be going to see this movie with her.
Ya.. I skip all that potential risk, and go see the movie myself first. If I want to take someone after that for the company, and something gets destracting, its ok, because I already caught the important parts the first time around..lol.. and I likely saved up for it just in case. Say what you want, but if I wanted to see it that bad, then the second time around only gives me a chance to see what I inevitably missed the first time around, just do to my limited attention spans potential gaps.😁
When I was a teenager I wrote a bunch of rules for if I ever owned a picture house. The main ones were absolutely no talking, no annoying noisy rustly snacks and if people arrived after the main feature had begun they wouldn't be let in. For me, the one thing that ruins the movie going experience, are people.
G jr.hejvkerhio Figgtwie Ohisgolarebil Bjwresrbwdb COMICS ARE FOR TEENAGE BOYS. I CANOT STATE HOW F*****G ANGRY THAT MAKES ME. SOMEONE SHOW HER A I DONT EVEN KNOW.
Where is rule #1? I only see rule 6-2. I completely agree with all of these rules by the way.
I get that it's a joke, but why does he want to see this movie with someone else if all he wants is to be left alone while watching said movie in the first place ? I totally get his requests, though, I hate being disturbed by others while watching a movie...
These are all the reasons why I like to go to movies on my own - preferably the late show. The cost of a movie ticket (where I come from) is exorbitant. So when I go to a movie it is serious business for me.
I don't go to movies. Period. But for a restaurant dinner they might make some sense. Isn't there anything more boring and offensive than sitting across from someone who talks on their phone nonstop?
That was the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado 5 years ago.

This sounds like my ex husband but with a sense of humour attached! Still.......I wouldn't appreciate this, I get it is a joke (maybe) however, do not think I would be with him after this!
That Gracie response is the worst kind of person next to the super religious.
oh my god that f*****g idiotic last comment. "well I think that if a shooter came into the building HE should protect HER!" it's a joke you f*****g moron. jesus christ
No.6 rule killed me. Got me rolling on floor. "If a crazy white comes shooting take him down".... Like she Jack Bauer or Angelina Jolie or something to close?
I think he's joking but if he was serious I would be mad. He could just ask instead of tell
What's all this thing about "12-year-olds" recently? To us adults it might sound funny because we remember ourselves back then, but I noticed not all 12-year-olds appreciate these kind of generalisations as jokes.
