‘Emoji Mashup Bot’ Puts Two Old Ones To Create A New Hybrid And Some Of Them Should Stay Permanently
Whether you like it or not, emojis have become an important part of language and the way we communicate with each other. This is because more and more of our connections are being made online, in short passages of writing, where the ability to reach deeper levels of intimacy is somewhat compromised.
How many times have you struggled to properly express yourself via text? The absence of body language means that things like suggestiveness, friendliness and sarcasm are easily lost - this is where emojis can help.
But what if you can't quite find the emoji you are looking for to accurately convey your meaning?
While the list of available emojis continues to grow, one clever young technical student from Nantes, France, has invented a bot that provides us with an ongoing supply of hybrids and mashups, capturing every conceivable emotional nuance a human being could possibly express. The Emoji Mashup Bot creates new emojis out of two (or three) random emojis every hour, leading to some handy, some useless, and some absolutely hilarious examples!
The Twitter account has quickly accumulated over 230K followers as people wait to see what combo is going to come next, and have all kinds of fun with them. We here at Bored Panda have collected a few of our favorites to get you started, which you can check out for yourself below. What do you think? Are you a heavy emoji user? Will any of these come in handy? Scroll down to have a look, and let us know what you think in the comments!

18-year-old French technical student Louan Benmah created the genius bot, which uses a simple method to make its mashups. First, the bot disassembles the different elements of an emoji, for example the base, eyes, mouth, and detail. Then it takes certain elements of the selected emojis based on an algorithm Louan came up with, merges them together and makes the hybrid emoji.
"Now feel free to share, caption, download, and re-use every great emoji this bot is making,” the account generously suggests.
That face, when your mom force you to attend 'someone i don't know who' birthday party,
Believe or it not, but Louan is new to coding and this is his very first effort at creating a bot. "I began to learn how to code less than a year ago when I started my Technical Degree and I really enjoy it, he told Bored Panda.
"This is actually my very first bot ! This summer I wanted to improve my coding skills and I thought making a Twitter Bot would be a fun exercise."
"I made it in a week thanks to some really great Youtube tutorials."
While the idea isn't exactly new, the Emoji Mashup Bot, constantly churning out new examples on a Twitter account, is certainly the coolest example of custom emoji creation. Don’t be surprised if Unicode’s 2020 collection includes some of Louan's bot creations!
"I honestly didn't expect the reaction it got, but I think that's awesome!" Louan continued. "I get a lot of positive feedback, and that motivates me to make new projects like this one."
"My favorite mashup is the "alien+cowboy" emoji. It was one of the first to get popular!"

Some of these could be positioned better when it comes to the features...
I made one of these once at a website that does emoji mashups. Mine was the eyes with one eyebrow raised and the "Shh!" part with the mouth and hand. These are fun to do!
