White House Christmas decorations have a long history, with the first indoors tree dating back to President Benjamin Harrison's term in 1889. Since then, the presidential house delivers lavish Christmas decorations each year, to inspire the festive spirit of the US citizens. And as gorgeous as the White House Christmas used to be, it all changed when President Trump's wife, Melania Trump, got her chance to deck the halls. Thanks to the First Lady, this year's Christmas decorations inspired so many funny memes, that even we here at Bored Panda, had difficulty in narrowing them down to one list. It started after Melania Trump's Communications Director, Stephanie Grisham, tweeted a photo of the White House's festive decorations, to which the people responded by hilariously poking fun at what looks like a Tim Burton-designed Christmas horror anti-wonderland.
From The Shining to Pan's Labyrinth, the eerie twig-lined hallway got all the attention and Photoshop it deserved, highlighting that the White House definitely looks more frightening than merry. Ok now with all the lights on it actually looks kinda festive..... if they had just left it like that everything would have been fine..... although my guess is that Trump would melt under direct lighting so this is just what the White House looks like all the time

Even though some other people in the comments showed the aisle under "Natural lighting", this dead white branch aesthetic feel like either someone who does not want to be a public figure OR like someone who wants to communicate despair to the public. Creepy??? Are you serious? The new Christmas decorations are simply STUNNING! Look at the REAL video and judge for yourself. Style has come back to the White House! There is a reason why Christmas is a FEDERAL holiday. The world sees this and they know Christmas is a special time for the United States of America with no apologies! I have seen the full photoshoot of all decorated rooms that were enabled for photographing and this whole article on BP is very hurting and unjust. Other rooms are lovely, warm, you can feel the Christmas spirit. She engaged children in helping. She did the best she could, with taste, lovely big chistmas trees, red ribbons and I simply fell in love with the hall with trees in fake snow. it's gorgeous. All you haters should be ashamed of yourself for judgeing only basing on one picture.

I truly like the decorations. Both by day, and night. During the day it's bright and shiny, like fresh snow fallen. At night, it's as if the same frosh snow has fallen and they are illuminated from the base. I can see how people would view them as creepy, but to me, they are very nice.

Jonathan Milne Interesting that Melania chose to use all that white, even in her outfit as she stands staring blankly at the ballerinas (artistically, that fell flat, thanks to her lack of expression). White is cold, sterile, and pure white does not exist in nature. Considering what darkness lives in her husband's heart and soul with racism, vengeance, and hatred, the term "whitewash" comes to mind.

Guys chill. I think that this is just a photo at night. Yes, the day pictures look a little better (I'm still not a fan personally) but the night still comes, so there is a time of day where it will look that scary. And yes, I am sure there are many other rooms but that doesn't change the fact that this room, to some people, is odd and not-Christmas-like. Again, this is all opinion! We all need to chill out a little. Its just Christmas decorations and its the holiday season. The people bashing each other in the comments so much over things hardly related to Christmas decor is just sad.

Not all of the decorations are this creepy, but what I noticed was that there's no welcoming feeling in the trump White House Christmas decorations. Everything is severe, no sense of fun. I don't think Barron has ever had fun in his entire life.

I'm not sure which is creepier; ... those weird decorations, or the goofy attempts to defend that weirdness by the Trump supporters in these comments. It's time to wake-up and face reality, Trumpsters! ... Those "decorations" are insane! And trying to claim that the official photo was the reason they looked insane makes it all even worse, because you KNOW that Melania selected that photo as the best one. It's not that it is isn't visually interesting and beautifully composed and it would look amazing in a modern, glass and steel office building entrance, but it's not appropriate for the White House any more than Early American decor would be appropriate for the office building.

I'm not too fond of the long row of bare trees, but it looks artsy and dramatic. The rest of the White House decorations are beautiful and elegant. I didn't vote for Trump (and I sure as hell didn't vote for Clinton), but I'm sick of all the bad losers using every opportunity to try to badmouth the Trumps. If you really don't want him as president, vote him out in four years. Even if you don't like the current president, try to show some solidarity and respect for the office.

Ok, I could see this in a painting, but in a Real Room? Maybe some fall Stuff at the end of this Tree Tunnel for Fall picture, yes. Then I could understand the Concept. But as Xmas that is suppose to be joyous/happy-----I just don't see it at all! An I would certainly feel sorry for some one who felt this way, like Xmas or Happiness is so far beyond their reach! That is what this screams at me. It's makes me sad in my soul! It's a Great Piece of Art for a Canvass for sure!

Even though some other people in the comments showed the aisle under "Natural lighting", this dead white branch aesthetic feel like either someone who does not want to be a public figure OR like someone who wants to communicate despair to the public. I have seen the full photoshoot of all decorated rooms that were enabled for photographing and this whole article on BP is very hurting and unjust. Other rooms are lovely, warm, you can feel the Christmas spirit. She engaged children in helping. She did the best she could, with taste, lovely big chistmas trees, red ribbons and I simply fell in love with the hall with trees in fake snow. it's gorgeous. All you haters should be ashamed of yourself for judgeing only basing on one picture.

I truly like the decorations. Both by day, and night. During the day it's bright and shiny, like fresh snow fallen. At night, it's as if the same frosh snow has fallen and they are illuminated from the base. I can see how people would view them as creepy, but to me, they are very nice.

White is cold, sterile, and pure white does not exist in nature. Considering what darkness lives in her husband's heart and soul with racism, vengeance, and hatred, the term "whitewash" comes to mind.

Guys chill. I think that this is just a photo at night. Yes, the day pictures look a little better (I'm still not a fan personally) but the night still comes, so there is a time of day where it will look that scary. And yes, I am sure there are many other rooms but that doesn't change the fact that this room, to some people, is odd and not-Christmas-like. Again, this is all opinion! We all need to chill out a little. Its just Christmas decorations and its the holiday season. The people bashing each other in the comments so much over things hardly related to Christmas decor is just sad.

Not all of the decorations are this creepy, but what I noticed was that there's no welcoming feeling in the trump White House Christmas decorations. Everything is severe, no sense of fun. I don't think Barron has ever had fun in his entire life.

It's time to wake-up and face reality, Trumpsters! ... Those "decorations" are insane! And trying to claim that the official photo was the reason they looked insane makes it all even worse, because you KNOW that Melania selected that photo as the best one. It's not that it is isn't visually interesting and beautifully composed and it would look amazing in a modern, glass and steel office building entrance, but it's not appropriate for the White House any more than Early American decor would be appropriate for the office building.

I'm not too fond of the long row of bare trees, but it looks artsy and dramatic. The rest of the White House decorations are beautiful and elegant. I didn't vote for Trump (and I sure as hell didn't vote for Clinton), but I'm sick of all the bad losers using every opportunity to try to badmouth the Trumps. If you really don't want him as president, vote him out in four years. Even if you don't like the current president, try to show some solidarity and respect for the office.

Ok, I could see this in a painting, but in a Real Room? Maybe some fall Stuff at the end of this Tree Tunnel for Fall picture, yes. Then I could understand the Concept. But as Xmas that is suppose to be joyous/happy-----I just don't see it at all! An I would certainly feel sorry for some one who felt this way, like Xmas or Happiness is so far beyond their reach!
