Maria Gusberti Bistolfi, 1909, After Bistolfi

The sculptor’s wife, her portrait is among a half dozen women, some favorite models, in his 1909 monument to Segantini. I photographed her in Buenos Aires along with the others a couple of years ago. A pen and ink rendition of her in the monograph on the sculptor confirms her identity. She was around 40 years old here and dazzled by light.
