Make Boo, Not Bombs: How I Created Halloween Pumpkins With Dictators’ Faces, Threatening The World With Nuclear War
Hi! My name is Vladimit, and I’m an artist who loves to blend art with political satire. This year, I decided to celebrate Halloween in a unique way— by creating “dictator pumpkins.” Yes, those very same world leaders who constantly threaten the world with nuclear war are now part of my Halloween project. My slogan? “Make Boo, Not Bombs!”

The idea came to me spontaneously. Every year, I try to do something original for Halloween, but this time I wanted to use pumpkins for something more than just spooky lanterns. I’ve been thinking a lot about how dictators, especially those who love to threaten the world with nuclear weapons, keep us all on edge daily. It’s terrifying, and I wanted to turn that fear into something we could laugh at—by carving their faces into pumpkins.
I chose leaders who are notorious for rattling their nuclear sabers and trying to scare the world. For example:
– Vladimir Putin, whose cold, unpredictable policies have cast a shadow over global stability, especially with the war in Ukraine.
– Kim Jong Un, constantly threatening nuclear tests and aggression.
– Alexander Lukashenko, whose grip on power in Belarus and support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has made him a symbol of defiance and dictatorship.
My goal is simple: I want people to remember the power of humor. Yes, the world can feel terrifying, especially with the war in Ukraine and the constant threats from dictators, but through art and satire, we can cope with that fear. I came up with the slogan “Make Boo, Not Bombs” to embody this idea. Instead of cowering in fear of dictators and their weapons, let’s laugh at them and turn them into spooky characters that we only fear once a year, like on Halloween.
