Rebel Wilson Opens Up About Losing Virginity At 35, Says “People Can Wait Till They’re Ready”
Rebel Wilson shared a piece of her personal history with the hope of changing the conversation around sex, timing, and the unwritten rules of growing up.
In an intimate and candid disclosure, the Australian-born actress, 44, revealed that she lost her virginity at the age of 35 and reminded people that there’s absolutely no age requirement or limit for sexual adventures.
Rebel said she wrote in her upcoming memoir, ‘Rebel Rising,’ about losing her virginity at 35 to reassure youngsters that “not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager.”

“People can wait till they’re ready or wait till they’re a bit more mature,” she told People. “And I think that could be a positive message. You obviously don’t have to wait until you’re in your thirties like me, but you shouldn’t feel pressure as a young person.”
The actress recalled feeling “embarrassed” about it when she was a teenager and would avoid conversations about the subject at the time.
“There was one vague time, I think I told my best friend, ‘Oh, yeah, I just did it to just get it over with when I was like 23.’ Just to really avoid the questions,” she said.

“Normally I would just leave the room when the conversation was happening,” she added. “And then the people that said, ‘Oh, at 24, it’s so late.’ And then I’m sitting here thinking, ‘Oh my God, my number’s 35. What the hell? I’m going to look like the biggest loser.'”
The Pitch Perfect star declared herself a “late bloomer,” but she noted that her sexual exploration would have been “very different” if she was born about two decades later.

“It’s absolutely incredible, if I had been born 20 years later, I probably would’ve explored my sexuality more. I just knew I was attracted to men, and that was the normal thing,” Rebel said.
“…And then only years later, meeting women and having feelings for a woman, and that, I just think it’s a sign of where society kind of was,” she added.
Rebel is now engaged to designer Ramona Agruma, 40, after they were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. The actress proposed to Ramona on Valentine’s Day, 2023, a few months after welcoming her daughter Royce Lillian via surrogacy in November 2022.
It's really nice someone famous is talking about this. I'm soon to be 19 and I still haven't done anything. I know it's not bad, but all the people talking about it around me makes me feel a bit bad... To see someone with a large voice and audience reach talking about this may help some people not mock others for being virgins.
My first time was when I was 21, with my husband (he was my boyfriend then). We have been together for 26 years. Do not let yourself be pressured to it. You do it when you want it, nothing more and nothing less. I wanted my first time to be with someone special for me, but there is a lot of people who just want to have a good time with sex. Either way is good, but always when YOU WANT, not when others consider it is right.
Load More Replies...Do things at your own pace. Don’t worry about what others have to say, as your sexuality and sex life are absolutely none of their business.
I loved reading this! No one should ever feel pressured into sex at any age. Some people are ready sooner, others are ready later, and there's nothing wrong with that (assuming all participants are consenting and of proper age).
