We all have a problem-solving toolkit in our heads. But sometimes, you may come across a brain teaser that stumps you. In this case, it helps to look at it from a different angle instead of going after the most obvious answer. This is exactly how lateral-thinking puzzles work!
What is lateral thinking, you may wonder? Let’s say that when you think vertically, you go right after the most logical solution to a problem. Instead, lateral thinking questions require you to look at things with fresh eyes and find an alternative answer. These mind puzzles can be pretty fascinating as they challenge traditional ways of thinking.
Our brains are wired to think in a linear way. But these 62 funny puzzle questions with answers will show you how to think outside the box. These lateral-thinking puzzles will not only entertain but also sharpen your logical thinking.
So, are you a lateral thinker? Let’s find out! Try to solve these out-of-the-box questions and lateral-thinking puzzles (with answers) to see how imaginative you can be!

What are Lateral Thinking Puzzles?
Lateral thinking questions are riddles or brain teasers designed to challenge conventional ways of thinking. They require you to think creatively and approach confusing questions from unconventional angles to find solutions.

You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to pass out.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.
Knowing that there can only be one passenger in your car, whom would you choose?
They were planning your birthday party of course!!!
Load More Replies...The real answer: It's inefficient to own a two seater car in the modern day, just pick them all up at once
Shove them in the trunk. No, but for real, call 911 for the old lady, and you don't know the random LI. You are driving alone in a bad storm, at night. None of that is safe. You know who can deal with them? The bus they waiting on. There's no guarantee those three people even live in the direction you are going, so you're going to be driving back and forth around town dropping off people in bad weather. And with these gas prices? The bus can handle them. And pass out as in sleep, or faint? Cause the friend or stranger can wake her up when the bus comes.
The old lady. Because she once saved your life and you have been in love with her ever since.
"hey friend, take my car - I'm gonna stay so I can hit on this woman I've never met before." ... Bit creepy...
Actually, you go home, and reevaluate your ****ING LIFE! YOU! BOUGHT! A! SMART! CAR!
Answer: The old lady of course! After helping the old lady into the car, you can give your keys to your friend, and wait with your perfect partner for the bus.
The perfect partner of course because if the old friend saved my life, they can certainly help the old lady
The perfect partner of course because if the old friend saved my life, they can certainly help the old lady.
No, yea the old lady but I'm a kind girl so I would drive the lady myself. Not leaving my friend to do all the work of driving (ok I did say I was a GIRL right? Not a woman. Can't drive 😅)
Old lady needs a hospital, so that's an ambulance call. You give your friend the ride and the potential partner your socials. You don't know them, how do you know they're your "perfect" partner 😅 Because they're hot?
Hot? 🥵 And btw how do u know they r Ur perfect partner if you don't know they have been marri*d or not (I don't like saying the word so that's how I type it)
Load More Replies...The old lady. She once saved your life and you have been in love with her ever since.
Huh, when I read "there can only be one passenger" I thought that the car had space for one person only(because drivers are passengers too, just active ones) so I thought "I choose myself"...
I was going to give my keys to the perfect partner and hang with my friend

What is Lateral vs. Linear Thinking?
Humans are wired to think in a linear pattern. When presented with a problem, we always follow a structured, step-by-step path to reach a solution. This logical and systematic approach is useful for math and science questions that require analysis of cause-and-effect. Linear thinking focuses on finding the most direct solution.
Lateral thinking, on the other hand, requires throwing logic out the window and thinking creatively. It challenges your brain to look at the solution from all angles and make unexpected connections.
This is not just helpful in solving mind puzzles but also for your profession. Lateral thinking can spark breakthrough innovations, whether you’re trying to write a story or develop a new product. It can help you connect unrelated concepts and come up with novel approaches. It also works on psychological tricks.
Three people enter a room but only two walk out. The room is empty. Where is the third person?

A woman had two sons. They were born at the same hour on the same day of the same month in the same year. However, they were not twins. How could this be?
What are the Five Methods of Lateral Thinking?
You can solve lateral thinking questions by adding steps to the brainstorming process. This will help you see patterns in the mind game puzzles and identify gaps. Here are five lateral thinking techniques to sharpen your problem-solving skills:
Reverse Thinking: Flip the problem around and consider the opposite or reverse perspective. Don’t get stuck in an anchoring bias, where people tend to make decisions based on the first information they receive. To innovate, you’ll need to reorganize the data.
Ask Why: To break the cognitive bias, you need to ask questions. Challenge assumptions and conventional wisdom by deconstructing the mind puzzle and examining each element. When it comes to lateral-thinking puzzles, almost always, the answer lies in the question.
Reframe Ideas: Combine unrelated ideas, concepts, or objects to generate innovative solutions.
Random Input: You can break the linear thinking pattern by introducing unrelated or random elements to your problem-solving process. This triggers new ideas.
Metaphorical Thinking: Use metaphors and analogies to draw connections between seemingly unrelated concepts.

A man and his son are in a car crash. The father is killed and the child is taken to hospital gravely injured. When he gets there, the surgeon says, 'I can't operate on this boy - for he is my son!!!' How can this possibly be?

These are all over the place. A few are proper riddles, though maybe not lateral riddles, a very very few are proper lateral puzzles, bit a vast majority of them are "you can make up a billion 20-step stories to answer the question but here's the "right" answer"
Did we all just participate in a sadistic psychology experiment?! "How many people will suffer through to the end, and what does that say about their mental health?"
Load More Replies...you’re lucky you didn’t get to the last one because holy s**t was that an awful riddle.
Load More Replies...At first I was like "Okay this is kinda tricky but I've heard some on these, then like "Okayy, kinda makes sense but they're some flaws, at 40 I was like "Okay so they make up a ridiculous situation, ask us why, and then give an extremely complicated answer that you would never guess.
Hardly "lateral" thinking questions. More like use your imagination to come up with anything that strings words together. Brainstorming a story telling session? This was bad. I love riddles and this was pointless dribble. A child could come up with a more plausible strings of logic.
Here's a better riddle I hope. A Knight and a Knave were going on a journey when it started to get dark. The Knight spotted a treehouse and when he and the Knave went inside, they found a page with a map. The next morning three people left the treehouse. Two people went in and three came out. How is this possible? Answer: The three people are the Knight, the Knave and the Page.
I scrolled down to the end of this to see how far dumb can this go. And I can say that it went far far away.
A lot of these "riddles" were horribly dark. Now, I'll be honest, I love me some dark humor. But this was unexpected and concerning. Nobody wants to hear a riddle about how a tightrope walker dies because of a misunderstanding, or how a vet replaces a gold fish to save a person some sadness. They also repeated one, which isn't bad but should have been avoided. There are a few good ones though despite all of that. If i could give this a review i would give it 2 or 3 stars.
Most of these were terrible, but it reminded me of a riddle I heard as a child. My aunt would babysit me, and I had to sit at the kitchen table and answer a riddle before I could get up. This one stumped me. "A man spent all night gambling and drinking at a casino in Las Vegas until he was kicked out for being too intoxicated. He drunkenly stumbled down the sidewalk, and into the street just as a car was speeding towards him in the same lane. The driver of the car didn't have his headlights on, the drunk man didn't use a cross walk, there were no stop signs or traffic lights, and the street lights were out, yet the driver stopped just in time to avoid hitting the drunk man. How did the driver see him? "
some of the riddles are pretty good ngl, but some others are so f*****g offensive. i can’t believe this website allowed them. a nice f**k you to everyone who wrote shitty ignorant riddles, i hope you have the day you deserve :)
Glad BPs upvote system sorted the better ones from the c**p From the top the first 15 are pretty good, then they get heavily constructed and more and more rediculous
