Raising a child is a tremendous responsibility that not many folks can commit to; sleepless nights, stressful days and a mind full of chores. Not knowing what to expect and always doubting, fearing, wondering whether you’re doing everything right can seriously mess with your overall wellbeing. However, once you get the gist of the whole parenthood thing, you’ll understand that your life has been blessed with a series of never-ending adventures.

Everyone knows that the adolescent period is by far the most distressing one, both for the parents and the child; boiling emotions, misunderstandings and frequent fights. Many teenagers are entering the period of constant protests – however, some are simply enjoying their school days while sneaking in a toaster to make some Pop-Tarts for their peers.

A mother of a 13-year-old took it to Twitter to reveal a story about the time her beloved son sneaked a toaster into school to surprise his mates with some delicious Pop-Tarts. The thread went viral with over 774K likes and received a lot of love from fellow online users.

Bored Panda has managed to reach out to Elisa and asked her to tell us a little bit about her family: “I have three amazing kids. As a mom of three, it’s tough watching one of them get so well-known when the others have so much to offer too. My oldest (14) writes poetry and is an incredible leader. She was just voted her class representative at her ninth-grade election. My youngest (10) is also a brilliant writer. I’m an author myself and she and I have many writing conversations. Our family is Peruvian American Canadian. We’ve been through a lot but we’ve also had some really incredible life experiences. My husband and I are documentary filmmakers so we lived in the Andes mountains filming a documentary when the kids were younger and now we’re back on our vacation.”

Mother shared a thread about her 13-year-old son who smuggled a toaster into school to make Pop-Tarts for his schoolmates

Every one of us has done something rather random at school, but this young man has managed to show his true caringness to his whole lunch table. The woman began her viral Twitter thread by revealing that her kid ended up getting in trouble after packing a toaster in his backpack and bringing it to school to make some Pop-Tarts for his friends.

Turns out, the school’s staff found it pretty amusing, as they only told the teen not to make a habit of it. Later his mom shared a few other details regarding this heartwarming incident: the 13-year-old took his backpack to the lunchroom, found a seat next to the outlet, set everything up and started toasting and passing around these delicious pastries. The mother then added that the reason why her kid decided to treat his buddies to some Pop-Tarts was because their kitchen is currently being renovated and their family has decided to stock up on some microwavable and toastable goodies. Not many children would go out of their way to treat their schoolmates, let alone bring a heavy toaster!

Elisa also shared: “there are news stations asking to come to the school and Pop-Tarts wants to deliver donations for the entire school. He’s pretty excited about that! We’ve had people asking if he’s a big Pop-Tart fan. It’s a weird question since we hardly ever get Pop-Tarts. This was a one-time thing because our kitchen is being redone and we didn’t have access to an oven. They’re fine now and then and a tasty treat when all you have is a toaster.” BP has also asked the mother about the boy’s reaction to the story going viral, to which she said: “he was excited when his story started getting attention. We were all rather surprised at how quickly that grew! He thought it was pretty cool and is having a lot of fun telling his friends how famous he is.”

The mother then revealed that this is not the first time her beloved son has done something so thoughtful. The boy was diagnosed with cancer a few years back and when he was gifted $100 for starting his treatment, he asked to buy some Lego sets that he could give to other kids in the hospital. Fortunately, the teen is fully recovered and continues to be an outstanding friend to all of his peers: “my son has always been a sweet kid. He’s always been concerned for others and very giving. He was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma when he was seven and underwent chemo and radiation. It was a very difficult time but thankfully when he remembers it he never says that! The hospital gave him many Lego sets, especially Star Wars, which are his favorite. It really helped to pass the time and when someone gave him a gift of $100 he decided to go to the store and buy more Lego sets for the other kids at the hospital.”

Moreover, Elisa’s amazing thread inspired Kellogg’s to contact her and send a bunch of Pop-Tarts to the boy’s school, while also making an incredibly generous donation to No Kid Hungry – a national organization that is working to end childhood hunger and poverty in the States.

My mom told me about this, now I can finally read it myself! This kid is awesome, and I would totally be amazed to see a kid whip out his toaster at school, and make pop tarts for him and his friends! Very caring in my personal opinion. (Also not all schools have the most filling, and most delicious breakfasts.)

This kid is going to be talked about for decades: "Remember back in middle school and that guy brought the toaster and made Pop-Tarts for the whole school...?" People who aren't even born yet will one day claim to have gotten one from him!
