Kentucky Photographer Christina Ramsey: A Journey Through Childhood

It wasn’t that long ago that a friend pointed out Christina Ramsey of Christina Ramsey Photography after a discussion about using the Saturday Evening Post magazine covers as photographic inspiration. Her images remind me of a bygone era that has been rediscovered. In her own words she describes her purpose as wanting to take the viewer through a “journey of childhood.”

Looking through her portfolio, this is exactly what I saw, childhood as I would imagine it through the eyes of the child. She describes her two children as her inspiration for her fine art and when I asked Christina about her kids, her response really summed up what I already felt when viewing her images…

“My son is 3 ½ years old and my little girl is 21 months old. They are an absolute delight. My son, South, is a character. He doesn’t meet a stranger and can have you laughing so hard in a matter of minutes. He is all boy too. Like I said he’s only 3 ½ years old and has already had 7 stitches! He is just now starting to take care of his baby sister and it makes me so happy. I always said that when I had kids I wanted a boy and girl and that I wanted the boy to be older so he could protect his baby sister. I try to portray that in my photos of them. I think it really does come across just how much they love and care for each other. As for my little girl, Autumn, she is an angel. I mean an absolute angel. She is even sweeter than she looks. I always say that God gave me such a sweet baby girl because he knows I can’t handle another boy like South, lol! I love that she is starting to show her cute little personality. She really loves her big brother too. I’m pretty sure she thinks he hung the moon. They are a blessing and I love capturing these precious moments with them while they are so young.” ~ C. Ramsey

My name is Alethia and I am not a fan of the third person bio. It's like your talking about yourself...to yourself....in another body. I find that creepy. ;P I am a fine art portrait photographer based out of Florida. Not the awesome beach laden part... the large city part with loads of houses and not many interesting locations. I have been working in photography most of my life and really started to focus on it the last 6 years. I have a bit of professional education in photography but my main focus has been environmental studies and history. One of my favorite subjects to shoot are children. My muse is my daughter, our beautiful "oopsie" :D
