Hitting a child when they're misbehaving is ridiculous. There are many ways to discipline children that are way more effective, and that give the child a way better chance to become a happy, well-functioning adult.

I hope the kid didn't have a mental disability like autism. My autistic son used to say a$$h@/e all the time in stores... and it wasn't about the candy bar (although that is what it seemed like.) It was about waiting in line. No matter what he said - if he waited in line the reward was the proverbial candy bar. Maybe next time it might be better to 1)not let a child's words bother you as an adult, and 2) not interfere in someone else's parenting unless they were doing something like... I don't know... slapping their child. You never know the story behind the behavior.

If those were Oh Henry, Aero, or Twix bars maybe I’d buy this post..maybe. I don’t think I know any kidlets that would actively choose a dark chocolate chocolate bar. I say, if you wanna buy 12 chocolate bars for yourself, go for it. No judgement here. I just bought a box of 14. No regrets

I've read this one before and I still love it as much as I did the first time. Only way I can think of making it better would be to let the brat see you throw something away in such a way that he thinks it's those candy bars.

I want this person in my inner circle. Look, I understand why exasperated, at-the-end-of-their-rope parents give in every now and again, sparing us all from a meltdown.
