Justin Timberlake Is Forced To Take Care Of His Kid At All Times Due To Quarantine, Says ‘It’s Not Human,’ And Some Parents Are Outraged
Parenting is tough as it is, but quarantine makes it even harder. Many parents all over the world are being forced to juggle working from home and being full-time parents. And let’s be honest here—many kids who are having trouble adjusting to the new temporary way of life aren’t helping their parents by being easy. While there’s not much any of us can do to change this situation we’re all in, parents can at least vent on social media. However, not all parents’ complaints could be found relatable and we are talking about celebrities.
Justin Timberlake is making headlines for his “tone-deaf” comment during a recent interview
Recently, Justin Timberlake made comments about parenting during quarantine that raised some eyebrows. The 39-year-old singer, who’s raising a 5-year-old son, Silas, with his wife Jessica Biel, appeared on SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up” on Wednesday.
During the show, Justin was asked how quarantine has affected his family life and his response was: “We’re mostly commiserating over the fact that just 24-hour parenting is just not human.”
After he was asked how he is doing during the quarantine, the singer said that 24-hour parenting is “not human”
The host of the show reacted by laughing, saying that Silas probably wants some time off from his parents, too. However, many parents from all over the world struggled to find this comment funny and called it “tone-deaf,” saying that a parent is always responsible for their child 24/7.
Furthermore, many people pointed out that it’s so much easier being a parent with such wealth and privilege that Timberlake and his wife possess. It is estimated that the singer’s net worth is $250 million.

To protect themselves from the pandemic, the family has moved to a house in Montana, where they are away from people and can enjoy their time outside surrounded by stunning nature.

Share on FacebookThis just shows that rich people haven't got a clue what real life is for the people that don't have loads of money to burn. I don't think it's entitlement but it's just sheer ignorance on their part. But they should be very cautious and think about what they post on social media. Living in a glass house does have some disadvantages.
It was freaking joke, my goodness people are really so serious all the time, it feels like they are ferociously waiting for this kind of thing so they can jump on it. You don't fool us, we know it's just to make you feel and look better actually. Who cares, seriously ? Some rich guy made a joke about parenting, where is the need to show that you are more catholic than the pope ? It does not give you more virtue, it just make you more annoying...
Load More Replies...I raised an autistic child into an autistic adult, living paycheck to paycheck, not knowing if this would be the year I'd lose him because one of us accidentally got sick and racked up some medical bills. During the 28 years we raised him we had maybe 5 vacations..none of them for more than 2 nights since that's how long it took for any of his babysitters to burn out watching him. We had no family help..had to battle for professional help. Dealing with physically aggressive behavior issues for 10 years and afraid to be in my own home for a while. Now tell me how parenting your child for 24 hours is hard Justin.....
And to those who said he was joking and just poking fun...I'm sure racists find ethnic jokes to be funny too...doesn't mean anyone should tell them.....
Load More Replies...Why is everyone so surprised that a rich celebrity cannot function with a team of nannies to raise their munchkin accessory for them.
same story with the kardashians. they dont really parent their kids at all. they just expect a nanny to do it all for them and treat them like a slave
Load More Replies...A lot of people from all levels of incomes aren't with their kids 24 hours a day when they go to work, school, etc. Doesn't matter if they leave the kid with a nanny, daycare, school or family member. When forced to be with them non-stop for weeks on end, they figure out that (surprise!) it's really challenging. Especially if you're interested in doing it well. And for all of those who are making comments about his wealth and having no clue about us "regular" people there, there are others who think the exact same thing about you when you make jokes about your cooking fiascos at home now that you can't eat out all the time, how much gas you are saving from not driving around, having to use cloth towels instead of paper ones, and that you can't get your kids off the xbox.
I feel like people might be overreacting. Many parents rich or not would say the same thing. It is not easy having your kids 24h at home for this long when they would normally be in school. It is a challenge regardless of how rich you are.
It definitely is yet still - there's a wide spectrum of difficulty in this situation (or any other, for that matter) and he's definitely on the "easiest possible" side of that scale. And people in these positions should think twice about before they say stuff like that and stop themselves.
Load More Replies...If this was a random parent on Twitter or Facebook complaining about the added stress of having stir-crazy kids at home 24 hours a day, this wouldn't have blown up. Why? Because I see dozens of parents making similar comments non-stop on social media. Buncha hypocrites jumping all over JT for making the same comments other parents are making. When not in quarantine, ask yourself how long you're actively parenting. Do you work a full-time job? Because there are 8-12 hours where you're not parenting. Does your kid have a bedtime that doesn't match yours? Because there's more time where you aren't parenting. Yes, you're a parent 24 hours a day, but you're not actively parenting for a full 24 hour day. Kids and parents regularly get breaks from each other due to work, school, playdates and what have you. So what if he's got money and luxury? Kids don't care about that. They care about right now. And right now, kids are bored and want to go play with other kids.
Honestly, I don't think it was a problem. Kids will be kids. They'll be attached to and bugging their parents constantly no matter how much space you have. People don't always have to be politically correct. The guy wasn't insulting any of you, or anyone, or anything. He was just stating that it was hard to parent full time. Just because your life may be harder doesn't mean other people's isn't.
Maybe I need a more feminine name because I said much the same thing and was downvoted all kinds, haha. My whole Facebook feed is "Man being with kids 24/7 is a chore". Because JT is loaded he's an a*****e for sharing their experience?
Load More Replies...What this shows to me is that way too many people these days love to react and not even think for a moment that Justin was just joking around as he always does.
Is Justin Timberlake a dumbass? Yes. Are we all dumbass, at one time or other? Of course we are. Everyone says and does things that aren't malicious. Like asking about a family, then finding out they had passed. Asking about a spouse then finding out they're divorced. These comments can be inappropriate, painful, embarrassing for everyone involved, but they're not malicious. I'm not a fan(don't dislike either) of JT, but I don't think he deserves the HATE he's receiving. He's human, look at how he's been in his public life, he seems to be a decent human being.
I mean.. yeah I get that the comment rubs people the wrong way, but just because he is rich doesn't mean he isn't allowed to complain, right? Kids can be pretty rough. Also, these rich elite people are experiencing a lot of stuff for the first time. Pretty human actually to be shocked that it's hard work.
I'm no fan of JT, but people are way too sensitive about what they perceive to be his (or any other's) insensitivity. It's self-righteous indignation disguised as social awareness... motivated by a bit of political correctness and a large dose of simple jealousy. So many talk about the arrogance of celebs, but what is more arrogant than assuming that anyone outside of a circle of acquaintances ought to be aware of another's less-than-ideal life circumstances and should be sensitive to such? Too many are concerned with the opinions and lives of total strangers. JT is having a hard time with his kid? Well... so what? Boo-hoo. I don't care. I'm not wasting any of my time, let alone indignation, over that. There are too many really important things to be indignant about. Life is too short.
I can only imagine how hard it must be to raise a kid in complete financial security in a house with multiple rooms. I guess my family should be grateful to fight over the single bathroom and Xbox (which I am EXCEEDINGLY grateful to have and recognize as a luxury). Truly, not having to stretch every meal to the breaking point, having adequate outdoor space to play in, and being "bored" must be hell on earth. They must be so scared about whether their jobs or money will still exist or about how they can afford to get sick. Super relatable.
Me myself being a single parent, raising a child on a single income, who went hungry so my child can eat, was once homeless with my child, and did everything short of lying cheating and stealing to get to where I am at now and putting my kid through college do have to say....Y'all are being a little too sensitive! First I will state I AM NOT A FAN...but he was probably trying to be tongue in cheek with a harmless laugh and didn't expect half the world to get their panties in a bunch. JT has lived his type of lifestyle since he was a child so maybe it is "inhuman" for him to be stuck at home with his children since his parents weren't really stuck at home with him. We all have had struggles and live in different situations and I am sure his words weren't meant to speak down on us. At the least you could probably think he's speaking down on himself, parenting requires alot of strength, patience, and discipline which he is obviously light heartedly saying he doesn't have...LIGHTEN UP!
OMG seriously? Almost every parent says something jokingly about their kids when talking to others. Here are a few I hear ALL THE TIME. Kids are arseholes, we don’t negotiate with terrorists when a child is having a tantrum, say you should sell your kid but you would have to pay someone to take them instead. Saying you need a holiday to get away from your kids. Yaddi yadda. It is a joke. Even I say some of that s**t. It does not mean we love our kids any less, parenting is hard bloody work. We as individuals NEED time to ourselves, it is imperative to our mental health.
Years ago I worked as a nanny for a rich couple for awhile. I went on a trip at one point, and my temporary replacement fell ill. When I returned the mother was close to tears, and said with furrowed brow, "I had to take care of him ALL ALONE for the entire weekend!!". She was completely serious.
I seriously don't get the outrage about what he said. Everyone with half a kid can testify that parenting is one hell of a task. Most parents breathe a sigh of relief when summer holiday ends. While I do not support celebrity worship, I also think unnecessary bashing of celebrities is unfair.
I'm gonna comment about this article and then make it all about me.
In 2021 and on... just remember the numbnuts that made all these insensitive comments when the s**t hit the fan in 2020. Stop buying their stuff.
The guys human. He's simply talking about his life. Relax you jealous paupers.
all you people on here are taking what he said out of context. he was just saying his little boy needed a timeout. yall need to scroll up and rewatch the video. He is a parent just like the rest of us and has every right to say what he did. also i want to know any one that made any comments on here that have NEVER wanted or needed a moment to themselves as a parent. tell me you have NEVER pawned your kid off to your relatives or friends house for "some me" time. I can tell you that i never have because i have trust issues, but just about everyone i know has done it.
He literally said it was not human. To. Watch. His. Own. Son.
Load More Replies...I was going to write something about how tiresome self-righteous, judgemental people are but decided anyone who could take offense at such an innocent statement as that made by Justin Timberlake would take offense at anything and is just looking for an excuse to be unpleasant. So I didn't bother.
People get over yourself! Just because they have money doesn't mean they don't have parental problems. Everybody needs a break from their kids. And the kids a break from Us. It was a joke. Hell sometimes I hid in my car. We joke because we can.
I'm truly befuddled at the reactions in this comment section rn. Look, I get it..tensions are insanely high at the moment. As Justin said in the post above, this is a confusing & chaotic time for every single one of us. It's as if you were all lurking in the darkness like rabid wolves, waiting to strike at the next thing that triggers you unnecessarily. As parents we understand that we all have our limits, no matter how much we absolutely adore our children, that they can drive us mad sometimes!!! All these disgustingly hateful remarks about his status, his work and worse yet, his parenting ability. You are all choosing to get extremely ugly with a person because of *one* statement. And before anyone says it, no I'm not really a fan of his. Haven't been since I was a child. The people taking their reactions to the extreme should be ashamed of themselves. Are we all entitled to our own opinions? Of course. Should we tear someone apart and portray them as callous monsters? Absolutely not
Load More Replies...stupid article; stupid reaction to innocent thing said which was mainly true all parents are overwhelmed by the time spent w kids and taken out of context as if he's being dead serious which he isn't. you all seeking to make controversies outta nothing, taking these out of context and taking things too literally. and boredpanda at fault for writing this stupid article in the first place. everyone please simmer down and grow up
F all these rich people being all boohoo, poor me having to live a regular life since the CoVid outbreak. F outa here. Complete disconnect with reality, the lot of them. What would they do without their mansions and hired help and toys and toys and lots of fun they get to have? Whatevers.
I have not been physically alone since December. (Going to the bathroom or taking a shower doesn't count.) I love my family but some people, probably quite a lot, need "me" time. I don't think my economic status would change that. I guess I could "go away" for a few days but I'm not going to abandon my family during this time. So, I suck it up knowing (hoping) each of us will get our "me" time someday. I love and I'm thankful for famiy but to expect to be with them 24 hours a day, everyday, for weeks or months and love every moment of it is unrealistic.
The comment is definitely tone-deaf, but consider the fact that a lot of celebrities have loads of money but no ability to do anything. They can't style themselves, drive themselves, cook for themselves (and a whole long list of other stuff) without having a whole team of people behind them. It's quite sad really because they're nothing without their money.
This got blown out of proportion imho. He was just making a whinge about how this 24 hours parenting affecting him. He is extremely more well off than your average person, let alone people with more disadvantages than normal people but it doesn’t mean he can’t say anything to be sensitive to other people’s situation. If that’s the case no one should complain then because there’s always someone else worse off?
He said something stupid, and is getting alot of s**t for it. Everybody needs to chill out. You also have to realize his comedic attitude. Think of Jimmy Fallon. Now all of you hundreds of comments go ahead and sign off the computer Because all you are doing is throwing fuel on fire. Shut up. They have money and you have to go to work today boohoo. It is very sad how a celebrity can't get one thing wrong in an article on a radio show or on Live TV without the whole world blowing the fuckup. If I was a celebrity you all would be commenting Everyday on the dumb S**t I say. The ones that don't have a life are very easy to pick out. How about Blaming the morning show That asked him the dumb a** question in the 1st place. Or maybe the person that he hired to tell him what radio shows or morning shows to go on. I hope all the comments can now stop
Parenting can be in human and children can be the worst type of monsters at times because when there bad there too cute to stay mad at then you feel like a monster telling them off the world is going nuts but I will say this yes of course everyone feels like this about kids and parenting but at least all these moaning and bitching stars don't have to worry about bills or if there going to have a job or a home after all this has finished. No matter how much we say it doesn't matter it does money matters a lot you can't eat good intentions the roof over your head and cloths on your back isn't made up of hope. Yep just ranting right now.
I didn't have kids. I'd have been clueless at best at raising them. I can't judge parents in any situation. I imagine it's a tough job no matter who you are.
I also meant to say that the famous, whether we like them or not, say things that taken alone sound dreadful, but on closer examination, are just attempts at humour. They aren't meant to be taken seriously and I bet he is quite shocked at how this has blown up.
I think he was making a joke about the difficulties of parenting. If asked he would likely say that he has no idea how somebody with a few kids and limited resources does it. I am not close to his tax bracket and I'd be making jokes like that and spitting (figuratively) the professionally and perpetually offended! Again, joking here.
I figure he meant it as a joke. Because surely he can't be stupid enough to say that and be serious?
I think the tone deaf ones here are those outraged by his comment. He was joking. Admitting that it's hard work. That is all.
Apparently, he also said that him and his wife were thinking about the ways they can help others during this crisis and decided that it is best to stay at home and do nothing.
He was being relatable. Every parent experiences this and now there's no relief; no classes, playdates, story hour at the library. No grandparents, doting aunts and uncles. Not even a trip to the market. I get it.
Taxi_cabs, what the hell is wrong with you? You know absolutely NOTHING about what she has gone through day to day. And you’re very ignorant when it comes to autism. For you to get so “triggered” with what she said would be hilarious if it weren’t so ridiculous. Either you’re Justin himself or someone related to him. Geez
Also frankly disturbed to see all the people hating and downvoting, and insulting others' opinions. Whatever happened to non-biased. I know I'm gonna get tons of downvotes and stuff, but I'm not afraid to say my opinion.
"Back in the day..." people actually raised their own kids. What a concept!
When will celebrities and rich folks learn to just shut up. There have been so many tone-deaf gaffes during this coronavirus event, that they need to learn to quit complaining and, again, just shut up.
Geez, LEAVE HIM ALONE! Don't you people understand celebrities are better than us? They shouldn't have to take care of their children. They should be FIRST in line for COVID-19 testing (here's looking at you P!NK). Celebrities shouldn't have to endure the pain of being treated like one us peasants much less HAVE to do what we do hands on. Lets throw a celebrity charity FOR the celebrities! They don't deserve this.
“The United States has become a place where entertainers and professional athletes are mistaken for people of importance.” -Robert A. Heinlein
I like the idea from the poster who said we, as in WE struggling, everyday working (or not) folks should make a video of "Imagine" to share with the celebrities and all the other Richie Rich's. I like Justin. He's not on my list of celebrity hate. And, I do realize most are trying to spread good cheer and encouragement. Fine, go ahead. But please don't be ridiculous doing so. Remember where you came from!
i never liked him, anyway-this just makes me hate this fucktard now! boo hoo, rich b***h
We all say stupid things from time to time. but if it really is difficult for him that's pretty horrible. I mean, how much actual time do they spend with their child then? Cause if 24 hours is that hard, he is really being a c**p dad
This is so sad. I feel bad for the child. He can have all the things in the world, but not know the love of a father
What an idiot...Last time I checked parenting is 24/7, 7 days a week. Just goes to show that some people should have to fill out an application to have children.
Honestly, I don't see a problem with what he said. He's not used to being a parent 24/7. He can hire others to do it. I don't want to hear about people hating on celebrities because they aren't used to their new way of living. sure they're rich, but it's still a change and humans have a hard time adapting to change. So do everyone a fricking favor, if a celebrity says they are having a hard time, don't hate and say that they can't complain because they have so much money and fame. Just sit for a minute and think about how they are also human, and because of their previous lifestyles, they are having a hard adjusting. I know people are struggling, and I am amazed by the amount of courage many people here have, but celebrities are adjusting to this stupid pandemic as well so stop already.
Hah! Try having twins who each have varying levels of ADHD and autism, one of which was born with a cleft lip and palate (which has required 10 surgeries so far, some of which our insurance refused to cover) with one parent working full time and another going back to school. Then, try doing it all with love, compassion, and a grateful heart.
Tough life Justin, Shame, my heart bleeds custard, lumpy custard, cold lumpy custard...
