It was mid-December, the holidays were about to start and Ireland was about to enter into level 5 lockdown again. 10 months into this chaos and the 3 weeks of holidays stretched ahead was the last straw that completely shattered me. Far away from friends and family, locked away in my tiny apartment, life started to look quite gloomy.
As the days got shorter and the lockdown got longer, we all started to run out of things to do. There is only so much bread you can bake and cocktails you can make. The spark started to fade away from the zoom parties and winter stopped the hour-long walks after work.
But this lockdown also gave us an opportunity to explore new hobbies, do some soul searching, and appreciate the small things in our lives that get overlooked in the hustle-bustle of daily life.
So, during the Christmas holidays when people were trying to make the most of whatever little celebration they could have, I decided to try my hand at sewing. It was a good distraction from what I was missing and kept me occupied in those cold winter days. Surprisingly, the outcome was not too bad and out of the blue I picked up my camera and photographed myself. Suddenly at that moment, I was not lonely. The story that I wanted to tell was right there.
Following that day, each week in the last two months, I have spent my evenings planning on telling a new story from life. Stories from my everyday life that might be your story too. Stories that made me feel connected to the past me and made me nostalgic. Stories that gave me hope for a better tomorrow. So, here’s my “Life in Lockdown”, how is yours going?

it is such a beautiful, sensitive way to tell about how lonely it was for you. the images gives hope, they are beautiful and teach that we cannot control the environment, but we can definitely control how we feel and what we do about it. i got inspired be your story and images- thank you for sharing
Thank you so much. It was quite bleak at that point but I am glad there’s hope ahead.
