Jordan Peterson Shares Unsolicited Opinion About Plus-Size Cover Model On Twitter, Folks Are Having None Of It And Now He Has Quit Twitter
“Diversity” – it’s a beautiful word that brings together the people of our world. Over the past decade, folks have been continuously empowering others by respecting and appreciating their differences: ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, etc. Despite our society becoming more and more accepting throughout all these years, though, encountering evil individuals hasn’t become an uncommon occurrence.
A controversial author and Canadian psychology professor, Jordan Peterson, has recently involved himself in online drama. A couple of days ago, the man took it to Twitter to retweet a New York Post article celebrating plus-size model Yumi Nu and her Sports Illustrated magazine cover reveal. Peterson decided to publicly announce that he didn’t find the woman to be attractive, which later caused a ton of backlash.

For those who are not yet familiar with Jordan Peterson and his character, the 59-year-old is a clinical psychologist, an owner of a YouTube channel that currently has over 5 million views and a best-selling author of two books: “Maps of Meaning” and “12 Rules for Life”. The long-time anti-women and anti-trans “public intellectual” is a man with a questionable outlook on life, though it doesn’t stop some folks from supporting him.

Yumi Nu, on the other hand, is a Japanese-Dutch curve model and a recording artist. The woman became the first plus-size model of Asian descent to appear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in 2022, and, fun fact, is actually a niece of the world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki. Yumi has been a model for over a decade and besides the recent SI debut, she has also appeared on Teen, Japanese and American Vogue Covers.

The guy’s remark concerning the model’s physique has sparked a strong reaction from fellow Twitter users. Surprisingly enough, his post was liked by 58K like-minded people, which truly makes you wonder whether society will ever comprehend that commenting on other people’s bodies is a little foolish, to say the least. However, the model was quick to clap back and her tiny but very straightforward sentence put a bunch of ill-mannered people back in their place.

Not long after Mr. Peterson decided to make his unsolicited opinion public, he announced that he was departing from Twitter. The author revealed that the “endless flood of vicious insults” that he’s been getting made him seek help from his staff members who were then ordered to change the account’s password, to supposedly keep him away from the temptation.
Twitter users were quick to give the author a taste of his own medicine

Before Jordan Peterson let his followers know that he was leaving the platform, he did try to “educate” those who questioned his morality. A Twitter user replied to the man’s written outburst by saying: “also, ‘authoritarian?’ Chunky women on magazine covers? You sound like a parody of you”. Peterson then attached a few studies and said that “it’s a conscious progressive attempt to manipulate and retool the notion of beauty”.
Some Twitter users agreed with the man’s statement

There was a fair share of “health” advocates who also seemed to have a problem with the model’s appearance. Some even dared to say that all the comments praising the woman for her beauty “don’t make her more attractive to men”. Where does all this audacity come from?

The web is a scary place, and you often find other people in your business no matter what you do. Though it’s amazing that our world is yearning to bring everyone together and that most of us are happy to celebrate each other whether we’re all different or not – folks with Jordan Peterson’s mindset will exist forever, and our job is to focus on ourselves and our well-being only.
However, the majority of netizens were flabbergasted with Peterson’s audacity

Share on FacebookHe’s just angry, like all men who think like him, that women he doesn’t want to f**k even exist. He believes women are on earth simply to be attractive to HIM, and if they don’t fit into his narrow view of what’s sexually attractive, they should spend their time in hiding to not offend his sensibilities.
Men only buy Sports Illustrated for semilegitimised wanking purposes, so the fact he can't get it up over this model is his actual problem.

Yes. And not only is it an oxymoron in itself, but it also wrongly suggests that the body-positive movement is a top-down governmental programme rather than a grassroots movement.
Load More Replies...So this guy goes on twitter, spouts a toxic opinion that nobody asked for and then throws his toys out of the pram when he's called out for the misogynist he is. Hmm. How mature.
I did not read anything toxic. He rebels against society trying to confirm vies of aesthetic as some kind of "No model left behind". It doesn't work. Beauty is intrinsically subjective. It cannot be measured or ranked. To Peterson, this model is fat. I agree. And I'm 100 % certain she know it as well. Peterson doesn't have a problem with Sports Illustrated or Vogue puting un atractive models in their pages. But we don't have to like them. I'm not misogynistic. I am, however, fat. If I posed in a magazine, where some jacked dudes showed their fit bodies, you would laugh, and I would do it knowingly.

Most neo Nazis would describe me as intoleranct and authoritarian: I have zero tolerance of lies, and I think people's ability to harm others should be severely limited. If you want to do those things...
Load More Replies...Commenter CR987 has some nerve! Claiming that the original guy is "holding her accountable for her health" as if it's a random dude's priviledge to be policing women's health! And then he says that saying she's beautiful is not gonna make her more attractive to men - as if these two things were synonymous and the only reason for beauty to exist was for men's attraction! Damn, I'm angry. Gonna go look at cat pics now.
I laughed so hard at "he's just worried about her health". Like no, he said she's not beautiful bc of her size, being attractive doesn't have *anything* to do with her health, he's just throwing a tantrum over her not fitting into his narrow beauty standards.
Load More Replies...I don't much care what Peterson thinks is or is not beautiful. Beauty is subjective, not objective so his opinion is just that... his opinion... and whenever he decides to express his opinion, he generally makes a point of being extremely rude about it. My problem with Peterson is that whenever he doesn't like something, he immediately turns it into an argument about socio-political ideology, as if that's a normal thing to do. If he doesn't find larger women attractive, fine. What that has to do with "authoritarianism" is beyond me. He's simply trying to provoke conflict. In the simplest terms, this allegedly educated, intellectual man has reduced himself to a career as a professional internet troll.
Weight is not 100 percent determined my your habits. I wish people would know that. Hope they never get stressed, have to take Steroids for an illness, need chemo, break a leg, get pregnant, have heart failure, live in a food desert, go into poverty, should I go on?
I don't care what her body looks like, but that swimsuit is horrific. I can't imagine anyone looking attractive in that thing, regardless of their shape.
I couldn't agree more. The bottom half is just random. The top doesn't fit. And the whole thing looks like the Joker.

Idk who he even is. Or the model. But no big words nessasary..... he's a asshat. She's pretty.
Beauty standards really depend on the time and location, check it out https://www.scienceofpeople.com/beauty-standards/
She doesn't even look overweight! I admit the swimsuit itself looks a little odd (why is the bottom section curving up so high? Is it suddenly unfashionable for clothes' waists to be near your hips?) But the girl herself is pretty.
As a health care professional she looks overweight to me as we have waist circumference recommendations. Larger than recommendation is sign of excess fat in abdominal cavity. But who cares. She is not in health inspection in magazine cover and he is not authoritarian either to tell what's beautiful to us all.
Load More Replies...I have no respect for anyone who feels the need to just be mean-spirited. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but not every opinion should be shared. My maternal grandmother taught me as a child that if I didn't have something nice to say about someone I shouldn't say anything at all. Personally I think this model is indeed beautiful.
The biggest and most consistent problem with this man is that he expresses opinions as if they were facts. As far as he is concerned, it is an objective fact that this woman is unattractive to all men around the world and throughout history, and any man who disagrees with him is a liar, or has been manipulated.
Okay, BP, lame using PLUS SIZED for a normal sized woman. So because Yumi Nu has some hips, she's PLUS SIZED. Nice way to perpetuate negative stereotypes. And to the woman who were posting calling her unhealthy, what's unhealthy is you supporting the patriarchy's sexist views of woman. The Venus of Willendorf, a representation of Mother Goddess, wasn't an anorexic chain-smoker super model.
I absolutely agree with the comment who said something in line with "and why do men always feel the need to say who they find attractive or not". It's comes off so entitled and blah. Keep your thoughts in your head ffs, absolutely no one asked for your opinion regarding this. And you don't need to comment on peoples bodies. Ever. It says nothing about their health or their personality.
Bored panda, could you PLEASE Stop with censoring every damn word in articles? Sometimes it's hard to understand if you're not a native English speaker. And it's REALY REALY OVERDONE AND ANNOYING!!
I had to find her original uncensored tweet 'cause it made no sense. Her answer was "H0es mad" with a fingernail painting emoji which just cracked me up! I'm equating that emoji with when we used to pretend to buff our nails on our shirt when we were pleased with ourselves, right? Either way, she rocks and he's a well-known duck, so all of this works wonders for me!
First - in whose opinion is this woman 'plus size'??? Second - WTF does it have to do with him? I don't like how he looks but I don't go on Twitter to complain about it. And last, but definitely not least - Peterson is an 'idiot's idiot' Misogyny, racism - he's got the full set. Don't know why his opinions are taken seriously at all..
Because he's a pseudo intellectual who uses his "psychologist" title to legitimise his toxic opinions.

How it is beautiful. The definition of beauty might have been changing over decades but to promote fat as beauty is again making an aberration normal. I think people are not aware how many obese kids and teens are now being supported through such a "beauty" statements of fat. Also, it seems that in today's world just one vie is acceptable and one thinking differently is not solicited opinion. And who solicited opinion of Tumi. I didn't.
