Killed For A Selfie: Baby Dolphin Dies After Being Passed Around By Tourists As They Posed For Photos With It On A Spanish Beach
When tourists in southern Spain discovered a baby dolphin that had lost its mother, they started taking selfies with the animal instead of calling someone to rescue it. According to Daily Mail, the workers arrived at the scene 15 minutes later, but the animal had already died from stress. They blasted the 'selfishness' of tourists who are 'obsessed' with taking photos: "Cetaceans are very susceptible to stress, and crowding round it to take photos and to touch it causes them a big shock which greatly accelerates cardio-respiratory failure, which is what happened."
Tourists Destroying Popular Oregon Rock Formation
The so-called “duckbill” sandstone formation was one of Oregon’s icons, protected by a fence to keep away people because it was unstable. However, this didn’t stop some vandals from climbing over the fence and pushing and pulling on the rock formation. Eventually, they knocked the rock down. Allegedly, the group of people did this because one of their friends had broken their leg because of the “duckbill”. The famous landmark was also known as “Pedestal Rock” and “that Pacific Northwest rock.”
Tourists Chase Peacocks, Rip Out Their Tail Feathers At Beijing Zoo
A Beijing wildlife park near the Great Wall became the scene of some serious animal cruelty. Chinese tourists were spotted chasing and catching peacocks, and then ripping out feathers from their tails. Some tourists tried to stop them but they were unsuccessful. The violent offenders did not stop until they scared away the last peacock.
Mob Of Tourists At Costa Rica’s Ostional Beach Prevents Sea Turtles From Nesting
The Ostional Wildlife Refuge in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, is one place where olive ridley sea turtles nest. Unfortunately for them, hundreds of tourists swarmed the beach and scared the turtles away, meaning a large number of them didn’t lay eggs. These tourists were angling for some good photos: some of them even stood on top of turtle nests, while others put their kids on top of the animals.
Tourists Break Into Eco Park And Strip Away All Its Lotus Flowers
Tourists picked all the lotus flowers in the Longqiao Cultural and Ecological Park which is located in Sichuan, China. The park was supposed to reopen soon, but had to stay closed after the tourists’ actions. Summer blossom season started in June and ever since then, Chinese tourists have been breaking into the park to pick the flowers. However, some tourists did more than that: they also went fishing by the stream and destroyed the park fences. Since March, the fences were mended five times so far. A park representative stated that they “cannot control the tourists.”
Schoolboy, 15, Exposed As Egypt’s Ancient Temple Graffiti Vandal
A 15-year-old Chinese teenager from Nanjing named Ding Jinhao scratched his name into Ancient Egyptian artwork at the Temple of Luxor, on the East bank of the Nile. Internet users quickly found the culprit, eventually forcing the boy’s parents to apologize for what he did. The teenager wrote: “Ding Jinhao was here” in Mandarin on the 3,500-year-old artwork.
Man Climbed Onto The Pedestal The Statue Sits Upon, Attempted To Take A Selfie And Knocked The Statue Over
One more victim of tourists who wanted to take selfies was the nearly 130-year-old Dom Sebastiao statue in Lisbon, Portugal. A person climbed onto the pedestal because they wanted to take an impressive photo, but things ended badly. Very badly. The tourist knocked the statue over and broke it into pieces. Police officers arrested the perpetrator after they tried to run away.
Tourist Knocked Down The Saint Michael Statue While Trying To Take A Selfie (Lisbon, Portugal)
Another attempt to take an impressive selfie ended very badly. One tourist seriously messed up when they destroyed the statue of Saint Michael at the National Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon. The visitor knocked down the statue when they backed up a bit too far for the selfie. The statue of Saint Michael shattered in such a way that it was impossible to repair it.
Bison Calf Euthanized After Yellowstone Tourists Put It In Their Car To 'Keep It Warm'
Two tourists thought they were doing a good deed when in fact they were dooming an animal. The pair found a bison calf near a road in Yellowstone National Park and put it into their car so it would be warm. This act sealed the baby bison’s fate: it was no longer clear where it came from and which bison was its mother, meaning it couldn’t be reunited with its herd. What’s more, it started approaching people and cars on the road, creating dangerous situations. The bison had to be euthanized because two tourists couldn’t leave wildlife alone like they should have.
Russian Tourist Fined $24,000 For Colosseum Graffiti
CNN reported that authorities in Rome have slapped a 20,000 euros ($24,800) fine on a Russian tourist who carved his name into one of the city's most famous historic landmarks. The 42-year-old man was apprehended after a guard at the Colosseum saw him scratch the letter "K" in a section of brickwork. The graffiti was found on a ground floor section of the nearly-2,000 year-old structure where restoration work was taking place.
"The damage to the monument is notable," site superintendent Mariarosaria Barbera said. "The incision cut out part of the surface of the structure and compromises its conservation and image."
Yellowstone Hot Spring Turning Green Because Of Tourists Throwing In "Good Luck" Coins
A hot spring pool found in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, changed color from crystal blue to yellow-green because tourists kept on throwing coins and rocks into it. The pool is known as Morning Glory, and has recently been nicknamed “Fading Glory” due to how much it has changed. Tourists throw in coins and rocks because they hope that good luck will then follow them. The debris stuck in the pool’s vents has slowed down the water’s circulation, dropping the temperature and allowing the proliferation of bacteria that produce the unusual pigmentation.
Jerk Tourists Chase Endangered Tibetan Antelopes For Photos, Get Fined
Seven people were fined for pursuing a herd of Tibetan antelopes with their cars. Driving two white SUVs, they trespassed into Selincuo National Nature Reserve in an attempt to take pictures of the animals. When the speeding cars got dangerously close to the antelopes, anonymous witnesses filmed and captured the illegal actions. After people started posting the footage on Weibo (China's equivalent of Twitter), it caused a huge backlash as netizens expressed anger over what they believed to be a careless and dangerous way to photograph the creatures. Later, Lhasa police made an official statement saying that the drivers had been detained and the cars they had hidden had been found. Eventually, the Forestry Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region published the results of the investigation, imposing a penalty of 15,000 yuan (2,257 US dollars) on each of the suspects. The reserve's caretakers responsible had their basic allowance suspended for three months and the local administrative departments were also blamed for the incident.
That's $22 000 AU. Hope the antelopes were okay. (EDIT: Oops. Yeah. Not $22 000.)
Tourists Destroy Beautiful Azalea Trees In Bloom In China: Some Even Use Branches For Barbecue
Spring symbolizes rebirth, but this doesn’t give anyone a license to destroy nature for their own pleasure. The Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in China always draws in tourists who want to enjoy the blooming azalea trees. However, not all tourists are happy with just looking. Some of them broke off branches from the beautiful trees, others picked flowers, while there were even some who pulled trees up with their roots. All of this was for the sake of some pretty photos. One group of vandals even used some branches to start a barbecue.
I hate people most of the times. they deserve to get slapped in the face!
The Beach Near My House After The Tourists Left
Recently, Margate beach in United Kingdom was covered with empty bottles, paper plates and other dirty "leftovers." According to the BBC, Thanet District Council cleaned up the litter and is trying to identify those responsible.
"We love to see people enjoying our beautiful sandy beaches but the mess that was left on Saturday was shocking and heartbreaking to see," Bob Bayford, the council leader said.
"There were a number of groups on the beach on Saturday and permission had been granted for a 500-person event, at the Nayland Rock end."
Tourists’ Selfie Mania Destroys Rare Pink Grass
South China Morning Post reported that a field of pink, cloud-like grass flowers in a park in eastern China had to be cut down on Sunday after it was trampled by selfie-taking tourists. These flowers bloom for about two months every autumn, but those in the Binjiang riverside park in the city of Hangzhou were completely destroyed. Photos published by various Chinese media outlets show tourists ignoring rope barriers and flattening the 10-acre area.
People Allegedly Destroying Stone Pillars At Hampi
After a few vandals were caught on camera destroying the pillars of the Vishnu temple at the UNESCO world heritage site in Hampi, India, the locals started demanding strict action against them. Roughly a week after the video surfaced, Karnataka police have arrested four people.
All of them confessed to the vandalism. "They were excited [about] seeing the monuments in Hampi," Ballari SP Arun Rangarajan said. "They claim to have toppled the pillar in sheer excitement. They had no idea how historically significant Hampi is."
"All four have been [receiving death threats] since the video went viral."
Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in east-central Karnataka, India. It became the centre of the Hindu Vijayanagara Empire capital in the 14th century. By 1500 CE, it was the world's second-largest medieval-era city (surpassed only by Beijing), attracting traders all the way from Persia and Portugal.
Hampi's ruins are spread over 4,100 hectares (16 sq mi) and UNESCO described it as an "austere, grandiose site" of more than 1,600 surviving remains of the last great Hindu kingdom in South India.
Tourists Destroy Natural Wonder By Carving ‘Send Nudes’ Into It
One of Iceland’s famous moss-covered hills was vandalized. Tourists carved in the words “send nudes” into the hill in South Iceland, which means the moss could take many years to regrow. This is far from the only time that tourists targeted this hill — there are more words (and names) carved into the hill. A local tour guide Gunnar Birgisson told the media that an Icelander started the trend when he wrote his name on the hill many years ago.
Tourist Spotted Burying Used Diaper In The Sand On Boracay Beach
A viral video of tourists burying a soiled diaper in the beach in the Philippines prompted local authorities to close the area for water quality tests. After determining that the water quality remained safe, the Boracay Interagency Task Force reopened the area later in the day.
"This is an unfortunate incident pero [but] we will not tolerate those who violate the law whether foreigner or local. [Everyone should follow the law],” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat told CNN Philippines. She said that authorities will work on aggressively informing tourists about beach rules and regulations.
In April 2018, the world-famous Boracay island underwent a six-month closure and rehabilitation after President Rodrigo Duterte called the island a “cesspool.”
Tourists Destroy Priceless Italian Monument While Trying To Take A Selfie
Selfies aren’t harmless. Locals living in the city of Cremona, Italy, can certainly attest to that. One of the crowning jewels of Cremona is the well-known “Two Hercules” statue. Unfortunately, two tourists broke the marble crown that sits atop the coat-of-arms, flanked by a pair of figures. The incident happened when the tourists climbed on the statue and were taking a selfie. The duo at fault are still to be located.
I want to upvote this 1,000,000,000 times this is genius and unbelievably true
Load More Replies...My local library has a really cool dragon sculpture. It wasn't that old, but you can tell how much effort the maker put into it, and somebody (or a group of vandals) broke it's head. It was fixed eventually, but very annoying and awful that people could do that to it
We had reindeer display at christmas, blocked off but it was damaged by some idiots (those renderers were proper ones). Why can't we have nice things.
Load More Replies...CREMONA - Damaged statue of Two Ercoli in the Loggia of the Soldiers. Last night around 1.30 two boys climbed on the central structure perhaps for selfies and have plunged the frieze fell and crumbled. Some damage also to the structure itself. Stupidity caused the damage, therefore, not vandalism. The two were identified as the stunt after they broke out. Speakers included local police and the police following the matter. The find has been brought under the command of the brigade waiting for the inspection supervision. Cordoned off the statue.
These people that destroyed this need to take selfies on top of rooftop buildings
Maybe it should have an electric fence around it . or Guards with guns near it.
Shouldn't be hard to find them. Their vanity will glow like the sun on the internet.
they trust tourists by not putting it in a glass case and they still destroy it
no((((( people shal; condemn such selfies in the net, search them and take fines, ban, make public
Photos Taken By Bali Dive School Shows Coral Defaced With Writing Etched In
When dive centre OK Divers posted photos of a coral that has been intentionally defaced with words and names etched into it, people were absolutely outraged. As the post went viral, the divers used the opportunity to send an important message: "Like many of you, we believe that their dive guide should have known better than to let them do this," OK Divers said. "Nonetheless, the diver has come forward, they are truly sorry. Even though it won't help the coral, we appreciate their honesty and believe they have learned a lesson they will never forget ... [we ask you to] think of what we all can do to prevent such things from happening and how we can protect the precious underwater world."
Indonesian Tourists Vandalize Olmec Monumental Sculptures In Tabasco
Two tourists from Indonesia vandalized a grand total of 15 sculptures in the La Venta Museum and Park in Tabasco, Mexico. The pair sprayed liquid oil on the archaeological pieces, one of which was the giant Olmec head (pictured), also known as the “The Old Warrior.” What makes things even worse is the fact that the sculptures that were damaged by the tourists dated back to 1,000 BC.
Hm, I just wonder, what is the point in spraying oil on a monument if not a deliberate act of destruction?
2,000-Year-Old Megalithic Tomb In Spain Vandalized With Harry Potter References
According to The Olive Press, a 'Deathly Hallows' symbol appeared on the La Casa dos Mouros dolmen in Vigo, Galicia. Despite it being a protected site, Mayor Oscar Dominguez didn't want to give the vandal any credit: "Maybe JK Rowling dropped by to promote her latest spin-off,” he joked. "Either way, it is clear that the graffiti was carried out by an amateur in the world of magic."
Tourists Damage Ancient Landform Where Dinosaurs Roamed
A group of Chinese tourists damaged a 200,000-year-old land formation in a geopark in Zhangye, in central China. They bragged about it on a video-sharing platform called Douyin. The footage (now deleted) shows two men and a woman (not including the person behind the camera) walking on red and yellow stripes of sand, a signature of the Danxia land formation. There was a text next to the original upload: "Good things must be shared twice: we went through the back door and didn’t have to pay for a ticket. This area looks even better."
"I destroyed a 6,000-year-old [formation]," a member of the group was heard saying.
According to Liang Xiaofeng, an assistant researcher at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the bottom layers of the Danxia landform date back to the Cretaceous period, about 40 million to 100 million years ago. "That’s the era from the show Dinosaur Corps Koseidon, when all the dinosaurs were active,” he told South China Morning Post. The sand layer damaged by the tourists was estimated to have been formed 200,000 to 400,000 years ago.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to find the tourists as soon as the video became public, and experts were called in to determine the damage. According to the government's statement, railings around the affected area which had not yet been opened to the public were also damaged. The city's government said it has set up measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Japanese Bamboo Forest ‘Cries’ After Tourists Vandalize Trees
A bamboo forest in Kyoto, Japan, started “crying” after inconsiderate tourists carved graffiti on the trees. The forest has been attracting tourists from all over the world with its breathtaking serenity, but at least 100 bamboo trees have been vandalized with English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese writings. While maintenance staff has managed to conceal the damages with some green tape, it was reported that the affected trees will eventually be cut down.
Tourists Allegedly Vandalize A Mosque In South Of Morocco
Local news website Tiznit37 reported that tourists who spent nearly a week in a resort called Boutbouqalt desecrated a mosque by leaving offensive insults and drawings on its walls. After this incident went viral, residents of Arbaa Ait Ahmed called the act “savagery,” demanding that the authorities intervene. The police were reported to have opened an investigation.
Tourists Doing Stupid Things At Yellowstone National Park
Why are there so many Chinese & Asians in the list, torturing animals & destroying nature? It as though they have utter disregard for the environment.
Whatever the fines are, they are too low. Seems to me that the governments should take drastic measures to stop the vandalizing of historic places and nature reserve. Perhaps jail sentences up to 25 years will make people think before they destroy.
Jailing / fining don't really work, They come out worse. I would like to see enforced work at these places. Fixing the fences, cleaning, doing the things that help protect flora and fauna.
Load More Replies...This was the first thing I‘ve read this Monday morning. I now don‘t want to live on this planet any longer. :(
Same... I don't understand how someone can have such an utter disregard for living beings and historic monuments
Load More Replies...I'm Chinese but generalization is not exactly wrong. By the percentage, security all over the world are always up and more wary of Chinese tourists and thanks to these articles, they should be. It will never hurt to be extra careful and particular because would you actually risk destroying another 1000 year old antique over annoying several Chinese tourists? No. So, no, being racist isn't good, but it's very proper to be particularly careful of people because culture defines attitude and attitude, defines conduct. If you know that one's culture teaches no care of nature, then you know how to counter is and be extremely careful over people who are taught so.
Load More Replies...I understand that these acts are horrible and the people should be condemned. Unfortunately, the people in the comments calling Chinese people "disgusting" and saying all sorts of things attacking an entire population of over 1 billion people should not be celebrated. There are plenty of examples of other tourists behaving badly. We should focus on those that have committed the acts and not attack an entire population. Please remain respectful.
I'm just gonna upvote you because I have no idea why you were downvoted
Load More Replies...I agreed with what this post was trying to say, but all that anyone cared about was, calling out the fact that most of these people were Asian. Yes I agree with that fact, but there is no need to generalize people. 😔
I remember my family went to the Giant Sequoias when I was 7 or 8. I said something to a couple who were ignoring all the signs not to walk around the tree roots. Instead of being ashamed, they were indignant and started telling my parents they did not know how to raise their kids to respect their elders. Yeah, respect needs to be earned.
Wtf that couple tho... "Indignant" "respect their elders" Lmao they need to learn that in order to expect respect, they have to respect other important things in the first place
Load More Replies...You can blame them for their behavior, not where they come from. That's just racism.
Nobody has fault if china people majority is a s**t.
Load More Replies...No. That's like saying that hammers are a mistake or spray paint is a mistake. Camera phones don't destroy anything. People do. People are a mistake. Perhaps we should start to restrict the access to ALL the beautiful places in the world, and set really harsh penalties, including high fines and long jail sentences, to whoever destroys, ruins, or soils beautiful areas. If animals or plants are killed, the punishment should be even bigger.
Load More Replies...Selfies just show the level of narcissism some people have. Has anything good come from one? No one is that damn important.
Yeah sure, let's just judge an entire Country based on a few photos picked by a complete stranger. How about we put some of these comments into a post and title it 'No respect for people'.
Google Chinese tourists and you will see. Ask ANYONE that works in a hotel, it's not based on these pictures
Load More Replies...What the hell is wrong with people? Fines are not enough. Prison at least.
I saw the a******s and the baby dolphin. Then the pricks pulling out the tailfeathers from the peacock. Unlike other Bored Panda collections, that's as far as I got. I read things like this and I swear, I just, don't, get it. How could they do those things? What's wrong with them. What weren't they born with? What happened? Then, I get an upset stomach because I do something against my nature. I wish them all a painful death.
This just goes to show 2 things....1) Not all lives should matter and 2) there are too damned many people.
You know what I find sad? All the commenters will speak under each post and condemn the individuals who committed those awful acts. But when it gets to anything about Asia or China, you all feel that its okay to put on your racist hats and roast an entire race. Because apparently not every race or country is filled with horrible people.
Um why are people downvoting non-racist comments that are a) inoffensive and b) have the courage to address racism when they see it? Bro if this comment gets downvoted to negatives, Im definitely losing all hope in humans.
There are just some people who delight in random downvoting. Sad.
Load More Replies...Some people can be real as*holes sometimes... Makes the rest of us (the decent people) look bad.
I see someone made the comment bubbling in my mind. Disrespect for the environment is a human fault, so this kind of vandalism is certainly not confined to one race group, but far too many of these incidents were caused by Chinese tourists. I believe the penalties for displaying such disrespect for public monuments would be dealt with harshly in their homeland. It is simply unacceptable that they visit other countries and display such contempt for their hosts.
I’ve seen it time and time again here Hawai’i. Asians and Indian tourists are the F****** worst people on the planet when it comes to visiting places. Micros are destructible also.. But asians. I’ve probably yelled at more of them than any other race about their stupidity...
Unfortunately it's clear that humans cannnot be trusted to police themselves due to cultural differences or a lack of education and sensitivity. The only solution I see is to post security at these places and levy hefty fines and jail sentences on those who cross a barrier or touch an artifact, and shame them all over the media.
I aM FOOKING MAD. THIS. THIS. IM MAD AT THESE PEOPLE. IM PUNCHING MY PILLOW AGRESSIVELY. I CANT. I WANT TO TRACK DOWN THESE PEOPLE WITH A SHOVEL IN THEIR FACE, REPEATEDLY
I think this means there needs to be stricter enforcement on crimes against nature. These are horrible acts of entitlement!
These people should be removed from the human race with extreme prejudice. Scum.
I shouldn't had read this. It just made me so F*CKING MAD!! How can people be this stupid?? And many of them just for a damn f*cking selfie???? Why do you destroy or put in risk something valuable for the sake of "likes"? Some say the only way to save this planet is to vanish human race from it, and I'm starting to agree with them.
Why is everyone saying Chinese people are bad because of some tourists? I get that some Chinese tourists are really nasty but please don't insult a whole country because of it!
There is steam coming out of my ears. Couldn't get through the whole post. These are horrible, horrible people.
People like this should have a license to be a tourist, a pet owner and a parent. Maybe then the rampant stupidity and selfishness will stop, or at least slow down. Bunch of f***ing morons..self entitled twats too
I live near a national park and national forests. Tourists are *loathed* here. So far, no priceless ancient statues ruined, just priceless ancient rock formations and caves, some forest fires, piles of trash and human waste, and the selfies on cliffs, oh, yeah, and trampling endangered species. But they LOVE Nature... (note dripping sarcasm)
Need to start requiring people to purchase visas again before permitting them to travel.
If people behave like this when they travel, I can't imagine how they behave towards each other at home! I wasn't anywhere near middle class for a long time, but even I was taught manners: Don't touch ANYTHING that doesn't belong to you without permission. Keep your hands to yourself. Clean up after yourself. Don't yell at people if something's not going your way. In nature and in museums leave only footprints, take only photos (if you're allowed to take photos). Don't barge into places where the sign says "Do not enter". And this selfie taking thing is out of hand! Whom does one need to impress that they went to such-and-such-a-place? Nobody cares. And why would anyone outright destroy a monument or natural feature!? What kind of egotistical f****r does that?! The vanity and egotism of all this behavior is reprehensible.
This entire post makes me so angry and breaks my heart at the same time. I couldn't read anymore stories past the peacocks being chased and abused.
This whole thread and others like it make me cry. There are too many people, and there are too many stupid and selfish people. I really wish the stupid selfie trend would end! "Oh, you took that picture of yourself, yourself? Yikes, what kind of loser are you!?!" "You destroyed something in the process? Hmmm, you've now lost your right to ever take another photo of anything ever again!" I know that's just me dreaming but it's a good dream.
This is one of these times when "I hate humans" is the only thing an my mind ...
with twat like that we should no wander why somme place arent open to tourist
with stuff like this many place will no longer be open for tourist
all for social media sites... selfies.. it will only become worse, the next generation is raised with a cell phone in their hands. They focus on image, not ideals.
What a bunch of brain dead narcissistic wankers. No shred of decency, compassionate thought or culture. Isis is not the only threat to providence.People like this ruin it for the ones who wish to broaden their intelligence. More and more natural beauties are being banned from human encroachment due to these self absorbed excuses for human beings .
You can take the boy out of the jungle, but you can not take the jungle out of the boy. Some people will never have an ounce of culture, neither will their offspring. We are doomed as a race. What a bunch of f*****g narcissists.
I don't understand people like this..my mother taught me that unless told so, you never..EVER touch. you stand back: enjoy and observe..you might take a picture, if allowed, but you don't touch or disturb whatever art, nature, or animals that you are observing...if you must, you ask someone working there and if they say no, you go back to observing from a safe distance.
I don't understand why people would do this..my mom taught me that unless told so ( like a hands on exhibit at a kids science museum), you do not touch, you always observe from a respectful distance..especially animals. You look, you might take a picture but you never ever touch..
My Father had the highest regard for nature and its beauty-if he would have got wind I was ever part of any of this-I wouldnt have seen the light of day until I was 21
After the 4th picture i stopped looking. This is by far one of the worst articles I've seen on bored panda and I've been reading articles off this site for a couple years now. People are disgusting..this is why i love animals so much more
There are many positive applications of social media, but, as usual, people choose to act irresponsibly, stupidly, selfishly, and just plain nasty. Saw things like this around Arizona, where idiots would carve initials or whatever into ANCIENT petroglyphs. Social media has given these POS a perfect place to show the world their POS-ness. And, dang, if they're not so very, very proud of themselves. Social media has shown the world how really ugly people can be. I can't wrap my head around such things.
I come to BoredPanda for funny, silly, interesting and educational things. Reading and seeing people actively being horribly cruel to animals is NOT WHAT I'M HERE FOR. I know this stuff happens and I work actively against it- but I really, really don't want to see it here. I was expecting humans being stupid, yes, but not torturing or killing animals. PLEASE don't post this stuff- or at least put up a warning so that those of us who want to avoid it can do so. Thank you.
If they dont know how to respect national parks, monuments etc. then these types of people should not be allowed to travel anywhere or they should be given reminders on how act properly
We must see the good and the bad, this has been extremely depressing, how can it be so many, so many I can't say humans, we have so much beauty to enjoy, if some don't get pleasure from it, does that mean the destruction is the other choice ???
I visited Kenilworth Castle in the UK 35 years ago. It is a ruin, but was a functioning castle in the time of Elizabeth the First (so Shakespeare's time too). What struck me was the graffiti carved into the walls throughout the Castle. There was graffiti in Latin and dated in the 1700s. My companion said that it had to be new graffiti, but it was scratched out in the same type of script of that era, when the graffiti of the 1970s was just basic scratching. And the really old graffiti had aged significantly. (Mind you by that time my companion and I were getting on each other's wicks!)
I don't consider myself a racist but do you notice that MOST of these horrendous issues stem from Chinese? Are they so f*****g stupid and uncaring that they think they can just go elsewhere and destroy & deface as they wish? I don't care where your from, if it's not yours, keep your hands to yourself. Period. All these statues destroyed because idiots want a selfie with it. Where has our humanity and decency gone? Apparently it flew out the window with common sense!
So much of this needless damage is done in the pursuit of selfies. As another post here said, ‘selfie’ now, more accurately, means ‘selfish’. Ancient natural structures and artworks are destroyed for two minutes of satisfaction. Why? This is why the planet is f***ed.
This was really hard to scroll through and look at how selfish the human race is. this is just a small glimpse of what the humans have destroyed, and that hurts my heart.
Why are people so stupid? This is just a sign of what the world has become. When I visit other countries or places, I never touch anything I shouldn’t (common sense) or animals or destroy property. I am just disgusted by a lot of the human race these days. There are a lot of good people but so many bad as well.
Any damage involving selfies or photos should have a special, extremely harsh penalty. “Sincere apologies” have no bearing. The penalty should include MANDATORY jail time of no less than a year. Can’t round up all of them? Round up whomever you can and let those serve as an example. But this will continue on no matter what humans try to do to stop it. It will take a much higher power to “bring ruin to those ruining the earth”.
All these tourists are from not fully developed countries and so obviously are clueless as to how to act abroad
The first, last and only question for me is WHY? Why do people do these things? I guess we, as humans who (as a species) lack respect, will indeed inherit the earth we deserve.
All of these pictures should have had negative counts. Horrible, disgusting deplorables
I think I prefer the tourists that drop off cliffs when they try to take a selfie.
I also had to stop looking at the pictures. People can be so disgusting pieces of s**t!
I just don't understand. selfies are nothing. they are pictures from a day most people will never remember. but the actions taken to getting the perfect picture are RUINING history, natural wonders, and wildlife. I got rid of facebook when I was 19, it's so fake I don't know how people can stand it. everything about self image is false. it's how you want people to see you in your sad little lives. it's as real as reality tv.
You know, tired of this sh*t and all, but just gonna say it. You know how China bans google, facebook, twitter, hwdsb, wattpad, pinterest, and more websites? You know why? Because you can write bad stuff about chinese people there. I bet sooner or later, China is also going to ban Bored Panda. because of y'all.
I use BP to relax and have fun after a long day at work. Don't really need this kind of pictures on my feed...
Are people really this self obsorbed that they need photos of themselves at the expense of others and the enviorment.
Higher fines and more protections in these areas might help but it is impossible to police the whole world and it takes away from the experience if you have to view everything from behind a fence. I think that there are just so many more of us that can travel now, it is far more common and this is the result.
I couldn't get through them all because of how pissed I was getting. WHY? We have got to stop with this whole only cating about ourselves c**p! I dont know when we stopped giving a s**t about virtually everything but this is really starting to go too far. I know my stupid comment on a website isn't gonna change the world but I really hope it at least shows that some people (albeit very few) still give a s**t about other and not just themself. Also I cannot describe the level of relief I felt knowing it wasn't just people from the US...
As human race can't be, at least tourism should be shut down. Sorry everyone. But this is crazy...
If you see this going on..make noise..call them out. Whatever is necessary to get them to stop!!
All these people should be publicly executed. No questions asked once proven guilty
Anyone who has done this is so stupid and disrespectful no one should do this to our planet
i wanted to downvote all of these then i realised it wasnt th eperson postin xe
what happened to society? it isn't just one nation although a few are worse but it seems to be all people. Social media has a lot to answer for , people are so disrespectful just for a stupid selfie.
I have flames shooting out my eyes right now just reading this. It was painful to see and even more painful to know how selfish people are.
I'm ashamed of counting as human being....Ooh my painful head....Hopefully these "dumbs" will be struck by lightning while shi**ing
Unfortunately that kind o behavior is not new... I visited the Wartburg this spring, the room where Martin Luther translated the Bible was full of graffiti, the oldest one I could see was from 1770....
Since most of these things happen because someone wants a selfie for social media, can we institute capital punishment? Or at least restrict them to using an old school flip phone and not allowed to own any camera?
So much senseless destruction. Things like this make me feel sad and ashamed of the human race. I wish there was a way that all these people who feel it is their right to destroy something to be made an example of. They should be disgusted with themselves, I know I’m disgusted with them and that is putting it nicely.
I have been posting all night and this just made me want to stick my head in the toilet and flush. China had better get a handle on these god awful goings on. And this absolute obsession with selfies. I can not believe the parents who are sitting on phones and toddlers are crying till mom hands a three or four year old their phone. Cell phones are like crack to a nation of people with a president who manipulated and had false info being distributed. All this anti vac s**t. So now kids can get diseases virtually wiped out til now. I am going to bed. It's 3:45 I am so mad at the visual and emotional assault these tidbits from idiots taking selfies. Who the hell cares. And for these absolutely unaware stupid, yes I said stupid, to destroy artwork that others may just be happy taking a photo of. The real pleasure is seeing up close the beauty someone created, or the beauty of the plants so we all enjoy. Every last one ripped out by two selfish women to take home & let die, depriving all
I traveled to Japan and there was a lot of people Chinese, they are terrible people, don't have education, speak and scream loudly, bump in you and don't ask for sorry. There are many Chinese in Brazil and they think we make a favor to them buying their s**t. We don't trust in Chinese.
Notice how most of the tourists are Asians (Chinese). I don't think of myself as a racist, but I'm not at all surprised by this fact.
Just a quick observation.... I know the world hates America right now, but I saw very few, if any of these performed by Americans. If we were as terrible as everyone says, I'd think this list would be full of us.
And how would you make out with just a glance as to who is American?

Load More Replies...1. Wrong grammar -> Chinese "p"eople "are" trash. 2. Kinda politically incorrect -> We can't deny that some Chinese people are shits (i mean you see this in every culture but let's just ignore that for now), so does this mean that everyone who is Chinese is trash??? This is so f*****g racist I can barely put up with this s**t. So these people in this post suck, huh?? Yeah, I can agree. Those f*****s are dumb. I know a lot of dumb Chinese dickheads. So what? So all of China is trash? I also know a lot of white dickheads. So all white people are trash? I know a lot of european dickheads. so all of europe is trash? i know a lot of dickheads from every single culture in the world. SO THEY'RE ALL TRASH? whatthefuck. I can't believe I have to make this comparison to make you understand. Take a step back and realise how absolutely s****y and racist this comment is. People probably gonna downvote this, huh? Yeah, they can downvote it. Downvote this comment if you're a racist b***h!!
Load More Replies...Whatever the fines are, they are too low.
