I’ve Photographed An Illegal Love Story At The Border Of Canada And USA
My name is David Tesinsky, and I’ve been frequently traveling the world for more than 10 years. I aim to kill stereotypes, open eyes with my photography, and to capture people with somehow controversial lifestyles or destinies, or just to creatively capture ‘normal people.’
Lovers Julia (US) and Lynt (Canada) were meeting for months on the invisible border of the USA and Canada where they’ve been having dates with more than a meter distance. They were bringing their own food as they couldn’t even touch or share. Later on, Julia admitted that they were secretly holding hands and kissing. Cameras and sensors are obviously not around but they are somewhere there.
They’ve met during Coronavirus pandemic times via Tinder and they didn’t want to wait. After a couple of months, The United States started to tolerate that Canadians were going to meet their partners on the US side in Peace Arch Park, Washington state, just a few meters away from Canada. There was no legal border though. People were bringing tents as well so they could have sex. It was not legal though, just “overlooked.” They are happy together now and they hope they can meet somewhere else than in this park in the near future.
