I’ve Been Caring For The Neighborhood Cats, Could You Help Me Name This Kitten?
Sorry I'm posting here. I don't have friends to ask and I thought maybe I could post here. I just want some ideas for a name for this sweet little kitten. I don't know yet if it's a boy or girl. I'm still working on gaining it's trust so I can catch it.
I've been taking care of the neighborhood cats for a few months now. There's about 25-30 total of them that come and go but about 15 that are here constantly. This one kitten has stood out the most and I've become attached. Every morning, it's sitting on my windowsill waiting for me to get up to go out there to feed everyone. Then every evening, it sits on the windowsill and watches me play video games. It's adorable! I like Halloween, pop culture, or space themed ideas but any theme is welcome. The few that are on my list are Salem, Cosmo, Pluto, Hecate, Sirius, Grimm, and Pedro Pascal (lol).
I have time to decide because I'm about to catch a different kitten first, that I call Oreo because it needs medical attention bad (and I'm going to go ahead and get it spayed/neutered while were there) and once it's healed up and ready to go back outside with it's family, I'm going to catch this black one and adopt it. I'm so excited…it's such a sweetie!
Oreo has had a bad eye infection for weeks and it's getting worse. Two other kittens had it too but they healed in just a couple weeks. Oreo has been going on a month now and the poor thing can barely open its eyes. I've finally gained a little trust so I think I'll be able to catch it this weekend to get it to the vet. Poor thing. It still runs around and plays with the other kittens so at least I know it's in good spirits.
This is the first time it let me close to it (yesterday)
Just look at it’s sweet face, omg
This is the baby trying to take a nap but I won’t stop bugging it, lol
This one is the kitten’s mama. She is the only cat of the 20-30 cats I try to feed/water that lets me pet her. She’s a sweetie, so I’m hoping her baby will grow up to be just as sweet!
I'm curious - do you not have Animal Control or a volunteer group that would catch these cats and spay/neuter them and adopt out those that can be adopted? My family in the US had an issue with a stray cat move into the neighborhood and kept having kittens. The family caught them all, brought them to a volunteer place and had them all spayed/neutered. All but the two oldest were fit for adoption. My Dad eventually tamed the older two and got them inside. (It took years.) I think Animal Control would have tried to catch the cats, but I have a big family and they were able to do it. (I realized it wouldn't be feasible for you yourself to try to catch 30 cats!)
O.M.G.! Such a beautiful cat...all of them.I would take them home ...all of them...and then convince my wife to accept half a dozen of new Cats😆
I have a black cat named Kohl, you're welcome to steal the name! XD (it's the name for the mineral stibnite that the Egyptians used as a cosmetic, it's the black lines around the eyes in their ancient art.) Other name suggestions could be Locket or Cameo (for the white patch on the chest) - the last one could work for either gender, as if kitty is a girl you could call her Cammy, and if it's a boy you can call him Cam XD Honestly though, I think the "right" name will come to you once you've fully adopted the kitten. I recently adopted three kittens - a brother and sister named Lucanis (gray) and Rook (black) - and a third tuxedo kitten, whom I thought I was going to name Magneto. But once I actually got him home and played with him a bit, I knew his name was going to be Riker (from Star Trek.) It was just the "right" name. Sometimes the right name will happen once you really "meet" the cat :)
Oh, and on the picture with the mama cat, the tabby in the back is named Luna. She was the first one that started coming around before I started feeding them all. It was just her for a few weeks, then one day I woke up to so many cats laying on our porch. We had to put chicken wire up to keep them off the furniture because they made a huge mess lol. I just wanted to give Luna a shoutout because she is a sweet girl. She doesn't let me near her though lol
