You might find interesting that the Moon has been praised and worshiped by different civilizations on Earth.
For instance, the Mayans considered the Moon to be a female entity, and the Moon’s phases were conceived as the stages of a woman’s life. The Mayans even had a “Moon Goddess” seen as the Goddess of childbirth and marriage that had the magical power to bring about birth and rebirth.
On the other side of the world, in Ancient Egypt, the Moon was considered a god called Khonsu, which means “traveler”, perhaps because the Moon travels across the sky every night.
And based on the Gnostic teachings, every moon in the Universe, is a dead, cosmic corpse.
The Apollo program, also known as Project Apollo, was the third United States human spaceflight program carried out by NASA, which succeeded in landing the first humans on the Moon, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, on July 20th, 1969.
We have produced a 6-minute experimental video called “Moon Exploration I” that shows incredible details of the Moon’s surface seen through a telephoto lens, with the original audio recorded by NASA during the Apollo 11 Moon landing, as a tribute to the magnificent event that changed astronomy forever.
Enjoy the exploration!
