Just like always, Bored Panda took the chance to reach out to Bonnie herself and find out more about her work, life, and many other things.
With her previous webcomic, Roar Street Journal, coming to an end, Bonnie sought a new project that would capture the humor and heart of her life with her software engineer husband. This idea blossomed into a hit series that has garnered over 270K Instagram followers, resonating with fans who appreciate the blend of laughter and personal insight.
Reflecting on what inspired her to start this new comic, Bonnie shared, "Back then, my webcomic Roar Street Journal had just ended, and I was looking to create a new comic. I was in a relationship, so I had the idea to create a comic about the daily life of my boyfriend (now husband) and I, both to entertain readers and to record funny moments in our lives. We have very different careers—I do art while my boyfriend was a software engineer. I thought this could be an interesting contrast and named us 'IT Guy & Art Girl.'"
When it comes to developing ideas for her comics, Bonnie usually draws inspiration from their everyday interactions. "Not really," she said about collaborating with her IT guy. "I usually take inspiration from our interactions and turn them into comics. After creating this webcomic for a while, sometimes after a funny moment, IT Guy could suggest that I should turn it into a comic."
Deciding which moments to feature involves selecting those that evoke a strong reaction. "I would choose moments that made us laugh or feel deeply," Pang explained. "Also moments that I think will make readers laugh or feel touched. Sometimes, it’s the interesting contrasts between an art person and an IT person. And then there are also memorable life events such as getting married, receiving awards, and going on trips. We adopted a cat some time ago, and pets have become a regular topic in my comics since then."
The reaction from her readers has been overwhelmingly positive. "Everyone is happy to see new comics—it’s free to read, after all!" Bonnie said. "I’ve been traveling over the past year, and some readers are especially excited to see comics about my trips. I have a very international fan base; when I talk about my experience in a certain country, it draws out readers from that area, and we have very engaging discussions in the comments. They love knowing the places I visited and the food I had, and some readers even offer recommendations as locals!"
Can confirm that cats WILL respond to you and hold up their end of the conversation if you talk to them XD
Bonnie also cherishes the personal connections she makes through her comics. "Usually, I get a lot of comments about how my comics are relatable, but sometimes certain fans would tell me that they are also a combination of an IT person and an art person. And I would feel like—oh, they’re just like us!" She added, "When I posted about my travels in Italy some time ago, I received many messages from Italian fans offering tips and recommendations for local food and gelato. I went to those places and had a great time, and moments like this make me really feel connected to my fans in real life, not just through social media posts on the internet."

Explanation: The artist owns a large bear plushie named Big Brown. It makes appearances in her webcomics quite often ( https://www.instagram.com/p/CgyvXGMLn2O/ ). What she is implying in this comic is that the fan above knows about her webcomics and is familiar with Big Brown the stuffed bear, which is why he said "Big Brown color, of course". EDIT: found a post where she shows the real Big Brown: https://www.instagram.com/p/CNE_f5MD598/
Been there and saw it and it IS stunning. The Uffizi Gallery itself is stunning.
