White light is not a good idea, though. There are modern LED street lights that are bright enough for driving as they give a sharp view but do not bother wildlife so much.

True. White and blue colours are to be avoided when choosing the lights, whether it's LED or anything else. To relax, experts recommend reddish or warm tones, like orange and yellow (available also in LED technology). And this is actually about physics, biology and neurology, not some scam that sells itself under the "inner peace" disguise.

I find LED so relentless and exhausting when driving. Old fashioned light bulbs 'twinkle' which makes them so much easier to bear. The same goes to old fashioned versus LED head lamps. The glare off the latter is awful. I understand there are many reasons to move over to LED, but I wish they could be made softer and gentler.

I know. Kills me when people equate a bulb style with temperature. Worse yet, bulbs that will say stupid things like "soft light". Soft isn't a colour, FFS. Soft means less shadowy, which is a function of size vs distance vs diffusion, not colour.

The pic on the right looks an awful lot like Kona, HI. They use orange lighting so it doesn't interfere with the planetarium on the top of Manau Loa (I believe that's the name of the mountain)

sodium lamps. Most efficient of all the lamps. A 10 watt low pressure sidium can be used as a carport light.

the room on the left has a light on inside though, you can tell by the shadow of the ceiling light. Either that or it has a second window.
