Time flies, they say. Oh boy, it does. But it only becomes obvious when you come across something from the past. Quite often, it’s a high school pic of your 14-year-old goth self rocking that camera. That’s a friendly reminder of your cringy legacy full of hopes and dreams before reality hit.
Other times, we come by stuff that’s as old as history itself. And some specimens are weirder than others. Cocaine tablets and a syringe from a 100-year-old nursing kit? Found it. Uranium glassware that glows? Yep. An antique door that helps you find the keyhole in case you’re drunk? Got it. Please enjoy Bored Panda’s compilation of the most amusing objects brought to you from the past by a bunch of people-turned-time-travelers.

A Nice Couple Found My Great Grandpa's Purple Heart In A Forclosed Home In A Box Labled "Trash" And Returned It To My Family
Some of us get lucky and find some quirky old pieces of history in the attic or after we move houses. That sounds like a good opportunity to make some quick cash, but there’re some things you should know before selling your item to the antique dealer.
Do some research beforehand—go on the internet to find some information, and evaluate the item’s condition. Keep in mind that in most cases, you’re likely gonna get 20 to 50 percent off the real retail price.
Sometimes, antique dealers will ask you to state a price you’d like to get. So get ready for a little bit of negotiation. Make sure the dealer is genuinely interested in what you have, and you are truly ready to part with it. If it’s a precious heirloom from your family, you'd better think twice before selling it.

The Filament Of This Antique Light Bulb Is Shaped Like Flowers
You've probably noticed that people use a variety of different terms like vintage, retro, or antique to refer to whatever "old" stuff they have. But these are not synonymous and, in fact, refer to very different things. A true antique, for example, is an object that’s 100 years of age or even older. Every antique item belongs to a different period—for example, Art Nouveau or Art Deco—and these may have a couple of decades separating them.
The term "vintage" usually covers older items in general. If you go “vintage shopping,” you're shopping for items that have distinctive vintage styles and usually date to anything from the '40s to '70s. Meanwhile, the term "collectible" is used for newer items that date to the '80s, '90s, and even '00s. The word “retro” refers to vintage-inspired styles and vibes and may be used for art, fashion, graphic and interior designs, and objects.

My 95 y/o grandmother told me the reason her generation has neat cursive handwriting compared to today is because they were taught to write using their shoulder, not the modern technique which uses the wrist.
Load More Replies...I have seen many old documents and the writing is always beautiful, they really took pride in their penmanship.
Graffiti as well. I've done recording on old moments and the names inscribed from the 1600-1700s are perfect, from the 1800s legible and the 1950s on wards almost deliberately illegible
Load More Replies...Sailors used to practice their penmanship doing the log books and when things got boring (and that happened a lot more than you'd think, especially on whaling ships), they'd draw pictures or, more commonly, write down the popular songs sung by the crews. This is a gold mine for modern singers of traditional and popular songs of the past!
Seems like everyone who could read & write could do wonderful sketches.

YES! More of this, less corona/isolation/hoarding/heroes etc... I understand the subject "needs" to be covered here too, but it is too much. Articles like these is what I'm here for.
When people look back a couple of hundred years from now, all our era will have to offer is a bunch of non-recyclable plastic c**p.
I've never wanted to go thrift shopping more in my life! Aaaaah the torture!!! (not that I've ever found anything remotely this cool - but I also haven't been to a store other than to get groceries in weeks)
I've spent the past 7 months cleaning out a garden of brambles and nettles at our recently purchased mill in France - getting in there properly with a spade, a foot down into the roots. Thought I may have found some treasure by now, old coins, ornaments... hell, even some antique doorhandles or something. So far just found broken glass from old windows and some plastic netting. Currently wondering whether to hang onto them in case they accrue in value.
Awesome stuff! I found a bunch of stuff when we were emptying my great grandmothers house. The attic especially. Found my grandfathers and his siblings old school books and a WW2 era leather jacket and an awesome wool coat from the early 60's.
This was originally a list of so many more things. Why did they cut it down? I'm looking for something on here that I saw earlier to show my mom.
I once found an old photo of a little boy under the floorboards in my attic. I have no idea who he is or how long the photo was there. I've owned the house for 10 years, but the house is over 100 years old. My guess is that it's from the 1940s or 1950s just from the look of it. I find it intriguing. Is he still alive, perhaps an old man now? Are his children or grandchildren walking around town today? Etc.
That reminds me of amelie, when she finds the little box of toys in her bathroom wall ^-^
Load More Replies...My parents' house was built in the 1940s and when they did a kitchen renovation, we got to see where the kitchen door had originally been before it was updated by one of its previous owners.
This is a really old knife that has been passed down for ages... now it’s mine! Anyone know how old? 70F375ED-C...f-jpeg.jpg
