It's probably more of an indication of attitudes towards women in that country.

The Global Gender Index doesn't measure only pay gap - other measurements include: education, political power, health etc - and as @'Aunt Riarch' mentioned, it provides the general ingrained attitude towards women.

It's poorly titled. This is the danger index for any woman in these countries, regardless of whether or not the woman is a tourist.

If a country devalues an entire gender financially, they will in society, judicially, safety and more.

It's not just focused on female tourists. It's solo female travel. There is no mention of tourists in there.

Because it shows their overall attitude and how their culture values females.

Same comment for intimate partner violence, not so much a traveller's risk. Not judging just seems a little less significant for someone visiting a country. Very bad for people who live there.

It isn't. This is simply a meaningless, arbitrary way for the West to (yet again) virtue signal that they are so much more "civilized" than these non Western backwards barbarians. Ironically, while the "civilized" USA has a high rating for "violence against women attitudes", it has a WORSE "intentional homicide of women" rating than Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Bahrain, Tunisia, Turkey and UAE ("barbaric" countries as we are led to believe). So if USA has such "peaceful" attitudes towards women, than why women being MURDERED at a much higher rate than countries which have a "non peaceful" attitude?!! Does this even make sense?!!

Some tourists stay long in a country and work small jobs to fund their travels. It is then important to know the pay gap.

Because it may impact where you decide to spend your money

Could be women traveling on business. This is a solo travel chart. Not tourist only.

It reflects a general attitude towards women which is relevant.

They could be there on work visas.

There is more information in the full post. Surveyed women answered: "In the city or area where you live, do you feel safe walking alone at night?" Right yeah, so many tourist are just traveling around getting abortions. Sounds like vacation plans to me.

At least the "safest" part - the 12 safest aren't even listed.
