“Data Is Beautiful”: 40 Charts And Guides That Might Change Your Perspective On Things (New Pics)
Infographics are instant eye-catchers. They tend to draw interest and curiosity because the aesthetic presentation makes information digestible.
We’ve compiled a list of visual trivia for you to munch on. A few of them are life essentials, like picking the right apple and laundry cycles. You may also come across a handful that may come in handy one day, like Germany’s cultural do’s and don’ts or pricing psychology tips to help you sell more stuff.
Scroll through the images below; hopefully, you learn at least one new thing today.

A Cool Guide Equality, Equity, And Justice: Breaking It Down Differently
Equity is what the German health insurance system tries to achieve: Everybody pays the same % of their wages (14,7 if I am not mistaken) into the insurances, but everybody receives the treatment they need, independent from how much you put in. The system is not flawless, of course, because of many reasons. One of them is that higher wages can opt out (they may not return if the wages drop!) and lower wages are more impacted by a percentage than higher. The Dutch try a different approach, everybody pays the same for basic cover (no opt out).
Research has shown that humans naturally process information with visual input. It’s why it is easier for us to read instructions with photos and graphics than in text blocks.
According to the National Library of Medicine (NLM), articles with a visual abstract are three times more likely to draw views.

How could you leave out the Greenland Shark....those awesome dudes and duderinas outlive EVERYTHING on this list (apart from immortal jellyfish... Who, quite frankly, have found a loophole that needs to be closed)
I know! I immediately thought of them too. Don’t they only reach sexual maturity once they’re like, 100?
Load More Replies...hard life for the queen! The once hatched in autumn are the once that will keep the hive warm during the winter. Thus living longer.
Load More Replies...This is so fascinating. I had no idea condors could reach that age.
Maybe if the Dumbo Octopus were a Smartbo Octopus he'd live longer
despite what the graph says, tuataras aren't actually lizards! they're a separate group of reptiles called Rynchocephalia, and are the only species of their kind
The best way to find an answer on the internet is not to ask a question. It’s to post a wrong answer, and then sit back and wait. :D
Load More Replies...Cat's lifespan is 20 years not 15. Eventhough now the eldest in my country lived till 33
Did you know that bats (the European ones, at least) live up to 30 years? considering their size (upper joint of the thumb for the mosquito-bat), that's absolutely amazing. I think (though I hadn't researched, so correct me if wrong, please) that in relation to size, there's not another mammal out there with that lifespan. We could argue that they're cheating, since their heart-rate slows to near-standstill during hibernation, but marmots and dormice (Glis glis) also hibernate very long and they only get to about half that age (15 ys for marmots, 9 for Glis glis)
Thanks to a new vaccine the cat one is about to increase to maybe 20-30 years
Some species of tarantula can live 25 years. Orangutans have been known to make it to 80, at least in captivity. Also, fun fact: the red velvet ant on the list isn’t actually an ant. It’s a type of wasp, also known as the cow killer because its sting is so painful it makes cows writhe like they’re dying, that looks like an ant (females don’t have wings). Don’t be afraid, though, as the wasp has no desire to go after humans. If you don’t threaten it, it’ll leave you alone.
It's a bit misleading to list four animal groups and then mix in one habitat (aquatic) - by that logic you'd have to bi-colour the whals. (Also the lis is a tad short on amphibians, and stingy with reptiles. There's a lot of frogs, toads, or newts, plus a handful of snakes out there. AND FISH GALORE. The longer I look at it the more irritated I get.)
Not quite correct...this chart discounts the larval stage of insects. Some, including mayflies, can live for several years as nymphs or larvae before their metamorphosis to the short lived adult stage.
Not completely correct...the chart discounts the larval stage of insects. Some, including mayfly species, live for several years before changing to their short lived adult forms.
Dang! Mosquitoes live 1-3 MONTHS?? I've got one lurking in my bedroom right now that only comes out to bite me when I turn off the lights, and it's only been here 3 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!
You missed the one true proven almost immortal Cockroach. There's proven evidence of their existence in every single period in time. And it's even been shown that one can live months after it being beheaded.
The very first entry is completely wrong. Mayflies spend a full year underwater before emergimg. Jumk science@
I must know the life expectancy of the Dik-dik. (Pronounced Zy' low fone)
Cottontail rabbit is just wrong. They usually live less than 18 months in the wild (as they are food for other animals) and up to 5 years if living in a protected environment. Domestic rabbits have lived up to 12 years, but only if spayed/neutered. Rabbits are extremely vulnerable to reproductive cancers and are unlikely to live more than 5-6 unless altered.
There are interesting facts about lifespans. These numbers likely come from the average lifespan taken across humans, which of course includes humans that died shortly after birth. If you exclude deaths under 5, the average lifespan obviously increases. Why this is interesting is that once you get to 60 you aren’t nearing the end of your lifespan, if you make it that far, you are likely to make it to 80.
They are only giving 68 and 73 years for humans? Maybe if they stopped exploring outer space and started feeding the planet we would do a little better.
Why the f did humanity not unlock biological immortality already. There are animals out there that do not experience senescence. I would but funding in decoding their genome.
You're a geneticist, you think you've found the genes that can make humans immortal, you can't test it on a human embryo because you know, laws, so you test it on a chimp. Great, now we just have to wait and see if this chimp is still alive in 70 years... oh wait you're dead.

Aluminium will not go away, since it's an inert metal (its affinity towards oxygen just creates protective layer, but otherwise it's the same thing). Good stuff with aluminium is that it's fully recyclable and reusable. But since it's cheap, we don't bother recycling it as much as we should...

Getting to that sweet spot of images, charts, and texts is key to an infographic’s aesthetic appeal. There must be a balance between data visualizations, words, and pictures.
Experts advise limiting small texts to titles that stand out. Annotations should be concise, and bullet points should be used to enumerate items.

A Cool Guide To The Number Of Animals Slaughtered Per Day On A Global Scale
Is there a chart of how much meat per animal is tossed every day? Separate for "could not be sold" and "customer didn't eat it and forgot to use the freezer". Killing animals for food is not always and in general bad, but if you kill it, you have to eat it. Otherwise it is not only an economical stupid thing to do, but foremost a crime against animals and abusing nature.
