In order to find out more about the process of creating embroidery pieces, we have reached out to Margarita from Ukraine. The artist works primarily as an illustrator but also doesn’t limit herself to this field, creating various handmade accessories. On her Instagram account, she shares small embroidered pieces of art like brooches, key chains, and others. To get more insights into the inspiration behind Margarita’s work, we asked how the artist developed an interest in embroidery. She shared with us: “I have a passion for crafting and enjoy creating things with my own hands. In addition to drawing, I have tried my hand at knitting and have been recently inspired by a friend to make brooches. To get ideas for my creations, I often turn to Pinterest and YouTube. Initially, I followed a tutorial to make my first piece and was pleased with the outcome. Since then, I have been exploring embroidery and different materials, gradually acquiring what I need to experiment with various techniques.”

We wanted to know more details about this unique craft, so we asked the artist to tell us about her creative process. Margarita said: “Before starting on any project, I always begin by gathering references. I find Pinterest and Instagram to be helpful tools in this regard. Once I have my references, I sort my materials by color. I use only the highest quality materials, not only because they will last longer in the final product, but also because they are enjoyable to work with. The end result is always even and beautiful. During the creative process, I make sure to avoid distractions to maintain my focus and mood. This allows me to complete a project, such as a brooch, in just one day. Sometimes, I even find myself admiring my work during the process.”

Each art creation comes with some challenges, so we were curious what the biggest difficulties Margarita needs to face while working on her embroidery piece could be. We found out that: “For me, the most challenging part of embroidery is stitching the contours (metal thread) of the brooch and finishing the edges. This task requires a lot of care and attention, and it takes up a significant amount of time. However, with a little perseverance, everything usually turns out well.”

Lastly, we were interested in how the artist ensures the quality and durability of the embroidery work, especially in accessories like brooches that may undergo wear and tear. Margarita shared her own experiences: “As previously mentioned, the quality of a product depends on both the materials used and the workmanship. It’s important to remember that nothing is indestructible and all things deteriorate over time. However, with proper care and attention, a product can last longer. For instance, if a product is made with beads and threads (such as brooches), it’s important to avoid rubbing them against hard surfaces and refrain from washing them. By handling these products with care, they should remain in good condition for a longer period.”
Beautiful Work
Must have taken a lot of time, effort and patience. Oh, and thread. I respect that. 👌🏻
Yeah, and thread's not cheap. This person definitely invested a good chunk of money into the project as well.

Can't upvote this sort of article enough; it's so awesome to see what talent folks have and the effort they put in!
The embroidery is beautiful, I don't understand what they do with it after they're done. Do they just leave it in the hoop and hang it up on the wall in the hoop or do they take it off and see it into a pillow or what?
I wish y'all would include these peoples profiles. Like their instagram or if they sell stuff on Etsy because I would be some of these things for sure.
