According to a 2022 survey by the Pew Research Center, about one in four married or cohabiting parents feel judged by people they interact with on online groups, with 7% claiming they experience this always or very often.
And the subreddit 'Insane Parents' is probably responsible for a fair share of the pie. However, once you scroll through this internet community, it becomes hard to blame them.
There's no shortage of moms posting their anti-vaxxer rants on Facebook and overprotective dads who want to forbid their kids from dating for as long as they're alive. So someone has to call them out before they convince anyone that such behavior is acceptable, right?

Parents That Make Fun Of The Hobbies Of His Kids Are Trash
A problem that 'Insane Parents' members face is that they are sometimes accused of faking their posts.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the sub is that the stories told rely on screenshots (often text messages between parent and child).
This leads to a strange dynamic where posters not only have to "prove" their experiences, but their struggles are also gamified into small, digestible pieces, the most surprising of which get upvoted.

Dressing your baby in designer brands tells me you're most likely an idiot. Seriously...
bcuz don't babies, like, spew on everything anyways...
Load More Replies...Like Taco Cabana? I've worn my food out of there more than once. /s
Load More Replies...Imagine mentioning the thrift stores, yikes, these babies grow out of clothes when you blink
Cabana was a popular chocolate bar in the UK in the early 80s. Iirc, it was coconut, topped with cherries and milk chocolate. Quite fancy one now
So, you are wearing sausages?? Alternatively, invest in an education and learn to spell rather than wasting money on brand names.
Best thing for your babies to wear are the family heirloom baby clothes with funky seventies colors. We got several clothes that are still in circulation and some of them were old back when I was wearing them
That is probably because fabrics get softer with time and wear.
Load More Replies...Very literally the same... I worked in a garment factory in my early 20s and I sewed in the labels and did the iconic embroidery for the famous brands at the time (late 80s to early 90s). The only difference between countless varying brands is the pile it was tossed into after the stitching was completed by thousands and thousands of people like me. Exclusive clothing is a delusion.
Load More Replies...I work in clothing manufacturing and if y'all knew the truth behind those "name" brands and how they are made compared to the "off-brand" stuff.... you would never buy name brand again!!!!
Like how brand name clothes are made to last only one wear because it's all about the "next big trend"?
Load More Replies...Unless they're paying for the baby's clothes, it's absolutely nobody's business what someone else's child wear, whether or not they'll outgrow them quickly. People are so damn intrusive and judgmental.
Brands like Gucci, YSL don’t sell to the true rich, they sell to the poor acting like they’re rich.
When I was a kid, we couldn't even afford off-brand or Walmart clothes. We wore salvation army, goodwill, 2nd hand (if we were lucky), and donated clothes from other people. Often, before I got a shirt or a pair of jeans, 3 other kids wore it before me, and sometimes one or two wore it AFTER me. We were so poor, I had patches on my patches! Yet ... YET ... I remember being in high school and having TONS of clothes, dozens of shirts, half a dozen suits, more than a dozen pairs of shoes ... almost all of it hand-me-downs. It was awesome!
@ Similarly Same here. All hand me downs from family friends, thrift stores, second hand shops, discount stores, all old. New to me. I was clothed. My kids now same. They wear what we can afford and is gifted to them. Doesnt matter where from. Except i do ck labels. Try not support countries/companies who pay their employees little or have kids working. If brand new. Offline same check where made so know where our hard earned lil money leftover is going to.
Load More Replies...Hey. That's an insult to all female dogs.
Load More Replies...as someone from L.A., I will say that I don't care who made the shirt I'm wearing, if I like it, I'll wear it
I flipped on my ex for buying my daughter some, who at the time was 2, Jordans. First of all, I do not like Michael Jorda because he is an Ahole and his crappy shoes are insanely expensive. She will also grow out of them in five minutes. I said next time, buy her something from payless.
I like Jordan simply because he was a great player, but I think that Jordans are indeed overpriced.
Load More Replies...Goodwill all the way baby! Why would I pay that much for $hit clothes they'll ruin or outgrow in less than 3mos? Ffs
Thrifting is good, but I don't want to support Goodwill, as they pay their disabled employees less than minimum wage.
Load More Replies...You know, some people aren’t rich. And you know, some people choose to save money. Some people just don’t want to be like you. So let me stick to my off brand stuff and you know what, If I get name brand stuff, it’s thrifted. Good quality, amazing price
We were quite poor and my mother had to buy clothes for me in shops that accepted the clothes cheques from social services. What shall I say? My Addidas had sometimes 2 and sometimes 4 stripes. The other kids teased me (off course) but I turned out to be a quite normal guy. Except for the fact that I don't look for brands but for quality and value.
Cute, fun, bright and comfortable are the clothes of choice for my kids. Who needs brands, the kids don’t have a clue or care!
"Gucci and Cabana". Are you sure that is not a knock-off from China?
Children grow very fast, soon the expensive brand name clothes will be too small. And you will not want to let the next child wear " last year's fashion"' surely! So you "must" buy new. Not very sustainable.
Yes. My child literally poured gravy on his lap yesterday. Pretty sure if it was designer I would have freaked out...
I buy name brands sometimes, if I run across something nice in a second hand shop. Unfortunately I am very bad at remembering names, så I am likely to buy a different brand next time.
I find visible branding on clothing tacky, myself. it's like you just want people to know how much it cost. In some circumstances I like more expensive clothes, but a lot of mine are charity shop or ebay finds, and never with conspicuous logos.
Most people with kids have trouble buying clothes for them even at Walmart prices. Gucci? Canana? WTF is wrong with you? I fear for your kid's futures.
i never understood the point in paying for designer brands anyway, but especially for kids. i mean, they will grow out of those clothes in like 5 minutes. waste of money.
Nike lost my business, quality went way down and I can get something better for 1/3 of the price
Bonafide idiots. Never dress your kid in something they'll ruin within the hour. Buy inexpensive or 2nd hand clothing, and put the money saved on brand names into an account they can use later on in life.
Kids grow out of clothes so fast that is financially incredibly stupid.
Put clothes on your children that you think are cute and think that the people that are paying way too much for a set of clothes that the kid is only going to wear for a couple months are idiots.
Speaking as a kid who grew up wearing K-Mart shoes, Wal-Mart jeans, and Sears jackets, and constantly grew out of everything, it's not worth it to clothe kids in stuff they're not going to be able to fit in after 6 months, and as long as it's cute and comfortable, who really cares about the tag?
"Quit being poor, it's tacky" is what I'm hearing. Ugh, some people... *rolls eyes*
Infants and toddlers grow incredibly fast - not to mention all the spit-up and poop that gets everywhere! Haute couture/designer duds is just showing off - a lifestyle that you most likely can't afford. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with WalMart, Target, Ross, or hand-me-downs for that matter. PS Cabana or Gabanna? 🤔🤣
Because i love trying to remove stains from $40 shirts that will only fit for one season
EXACTLY! It only that but it screams ‘trashy,’! Bet those people are vain, empty asshats with multiple maxed credit cards….. What a way to burn money!
My kid can and has run around in the most gods-awful mismatched, ill-fitting ragged outfit he could put together because he is still in single digits and he liked it. I'd rather he express himself and learn to feel comfortable doing so in healthy ways than adhere to some name brand ideology.
I don't have kids and don't plan on it. But when my sister has kids I will be sending them all the nerdy baby clothes. Name brands? Meh. Onesie with Darth Vader on it? Yes.
why would you blow that money on brands if they grow out of in like 3 months or something?
I only bought Cabana!! Thats the hottest brand on the hole planet nobrain!
Do you buy those Nike, Gucci, and Cabana at a thrift store? Same thing, different store.
My kids wore beautiful second hand brand clothes I bought for nothing.
I have a niece who dresses her son, who's about 6yo now, in all brand name stuff. I think she does just for her ego.
I can't believe someone would post that, even tho they believe it. Talk about out of touch, materialistic ignorance.
Kids clothes fit for like two days and then they outgrow it so we shop cheap and do hand me downs and it works great. They don’t wear clothes with holes or anything either.
I think my nephew wore a name brand thing once but only because it was on super clearance. It's a waste of money buying babies and kids name brands with how quick they grow and how messy they are
jeez Gucci for a baby?? the most expensive clothing and shoes that I have are some Air Jordans and some blazer 77s. both were 100 dollars each. but gucci? oh yeah some slippers for 940 dollars. damn thats more than my whole wardrobe combined.
I only wear Internationally Known Labels!...Oh, you're an advertising wh@re for other people's products. Do they pay you?
Dressing kids in expensive brand names is not the flex you think it is, especially if you brag about it and put others down. It just shows you are trash inside wrapped and disguised in what you think is pretty packaging. People with real money don't feel the need to flex and those putting on the Ritz are showing the selves up as wannabes.
I Think We Should Make Leashes Mandatory For Everyone Under 15!
Sometimes a leash is better than your suicidal toddler, running in front of cars, the moment you take your eyes off them to blink.

Furthermore, even if children get into an argument with a parent, it's not like they immediately mess up their relationship. Most kids — more than 60% — said they usually take a little time and eventually things go back to normal. Some kids said that they make up quickly (28% of younger kids and 18% of older kids.)

Sure, if the kid is *believed*. The default is "but the kid's lying, the adult says so" unless there's clear physical harm. (And clear physical harm where I live is sometimes apparently "bone sticking out"). Basically, nobody should be allowed to parent without first passing psych screenings.

I really hope most of the parents on this list get estranged because they don't deserve to have loving children or to be taken care of in their old age by their children.
I would normally say give parents a break, but these are awful! I hope these people ended up okay after these experiences.

I have been reading Panda for years and this is the first time I couldn’t stomach reading the whole thing. I wanna hug my mom and dad so bad right now, while they were/are not perfect this bull makes me appreciate their particular brand of crazy so much more!!!
Raise your hand if you feel imposter syndrome pretending to grieve because the evil parent died.
Nope. Mines not even dead yet. But no contact since 2008. Mom's very sick. Totally do not care! Every time I think of her all I feel is relief that I'm not in that house anymore. It actually makes me kind of happy she isn't privileged enough to have a relationship with me. She didn't earn it. And I'm so good with that. Love that I'm free!
