50 Pics That May Make You Never Want To Live Near Others Again (New Pics)
Interview With ExpertIn the past, idyllic suburban neighborhoods were characterized by close relationships. Residents would rely on their neighbors for support, friendly chats, and even block gatherings. However, nowadays, neighborly friendliness is on the decline and a once strong sense of community is slowly being replaced by anonymity and frustration.
This is evident in many stories of neighborly antics that people share to vent their frustrations online. From using a shared hallway as storage to wrecking a car into a fellow resident’s home, scroll down to find the most unbelievable things these neighbors from the pits of H-E-double-hockey-sticks have pulled.
While you're at it, don't forget to check out a conversation with global community building expert, author, and founder and CEO of Kalliergo Community Building, Lori Gosselin, who kindly agreed to tell us why we're distancing ourselves from surrounding dwellers.

This Is A Power Move
They look like fantastic beasts and now we know where to find them 😂
I read about this person and her dragons. Whoever complained is seriously going to regret it. They're going to be up all year round now.
I want to go to OP's place, take a photo where I'm pretending to run towards the dragon, caption it "Chasing The Dragon(s)" (IYKYK) and then as payment, take OP out for a dragon-sized meal spread. Oh, I'd even let him/her post it to judgy-mcjudgyface XP XD
Who would complain about a dragon in front of someone's house. Better than a bunch of plastic pink flamingos.
From what I remember they were annoyed that she pot it up for Halloween and then kept it for Christmas (with Santa hate etc) and they felt it wasn't christmassy.

Tbf, OP is contributing to the stupid by being in the neighborhood chat. I refuse to be in ours primarily because Idgas what people want to gossip about and if they need to tell me something, they know where I live. I know they were intended to foster community, but here we are...
I Present To You, Lazy Neighbors. These Neighbors Are Only A Few Steps Away From The Trash Chute And Refuse To Dispose Of Their Trash Properly. They Just Leave Their Trash In The Hallway
This has been going on for months and has only gotten worse these past few weeks. The lovely cleaning ladies have begged me to help them find out who is taking advantage of them, and last night I took the liberty of putting on gloves, going through the trash, and finding mail addressed to them. I found out who the neighbor was and placed all the trash back on their porch. Call me a jerk, but multiple neighbors have placed notes asking them not to leave trash bags outside in the hallway.
Good work with the gloves. I'd dump the trash at their door, rubbing some of the mess on their door, leave the bag open, and make them have to either walk through it, or pick it up. Then give the cleaning crew extra money for the extra work. Repeat as necessary.
No, those fools might have cameras recording the vandalism. They'd win in court, but the super ought to be told.
Load More Replies...WTF is wrong with people? I was walking home from the bus stop one afternoon and this woman threw a fast food bag full of trash onto the sidewalk. I said loudly, "Oh, f*cking HELL no", and I picked it up and threw it back at her. I was quite satisfied to see the drink cup lid had come off and what was left was all over her shirt. They were half a block from a convenience store, with multiple garbage cans out front.
gather it and put it in a bag at their door with a note saying, I Never keep what isn't mine.
if it's in an apartment complex there should be a fine for leaving your trash out
it should be legal to throw tomatoes at people like that until they pick up their s**t
A myriad of data supports the fact that nearby residents aren’t as connected as they used to be. A 2024 Top Rail Fence survey shows that 65% of residents admit to hiding from their neighbors.
Younger generations are even more guilty of doing this.
The most common ways people try to avoid surrounding dwellers are by pretending not to see them, staying inside when someone is outside, acting like they’re not home, wearing headphones or faking being on a call.
A Non-Serious Discharge Of Debt
Can't explain how angry I am. Someone destroyed the grave of my cat. My cat Franz passed away after a neighbor kicked him in the stomach. He couldn’t recover from this.
Yesterday I found the grave of my dead cat destroyed in the backyard. I reached out to the Facebook group for my village. Today the mother of the 5-year-old kid who destroyed the grave called me. His son is guilty and wants to apologize. He said it was a mistake and wanted to give me money for the damage. The mother interrupted him and told him the truth. He and his 2 friends destroyed the grave and threw the wood into the small river. This was no mistake. I am really sad and angry someone destroyed the grave without any remorse. But it's a 5-year-old, I can't call the police for this. I just wish he told me the truth. I made this cross fully with my hands, handpainted it and wrote his name in old German letters. He doesn't deserve this.
That first paragraph! Heartbreak, times two. I hope the cat-kicker was charged with cruelty to animal and made to pay the vet bills..
Same! I always ALWAYS skip stories where cats are treated badly or die, but this kind of got me by surprise :(
Load More Replies...To be fair, sounds like the mom is a good mom. Made her 5yo call and is teaching him about taking responsibility for his actions by actually calling and paying for it. AND she called him on not being honest about it. She's doing everything she can do. I still feel awful for OP though. Money and apologies can't replace what was lost.
The kid's probably not even sorry. He probably only did it because his mom told him to.
Load More Replies...I would ask the kids to repair the grave together with me and while doing telling them about the cat and my grief... so the next time they want to destroy something ,they will remember the story beyond could be more than it looks like. I never would take any money for apologize when I can take a lesson in empathy
Great idea, it could go a lot further than money given by the parents.
Load More Replies...His mother is teaching her child to take responsibility and make amends. It might not seem like enough, I understand. All children make mistakes, some very serious. Hopefully the child understands what was wrong.
In your backyard? Trespassing. So sorry about Franz, he definitely didn't deserve that or the desecration of his grave. 😞
The 5yo did NOT kill the cat, he destroyed the grave. At that age, he likely didn't understand the importance of it. His mother tried to get him to apologize and make amends. The cat was kicked by someone else entirely.
Load More Replies...Call the police anyway and file a report. The parents should be held responsible.
If someone kicked my cat, which resulted in its' death, I'd do something to that person which would land me in jail.
THIS is why I hate people. It's like a very large number of people have become heartless and inhuman.
Neighbor's 12-Year-Old Grandkid Decided To Sneak A Joyride. Freaked Out, Hit The Gas, And Crossed Their Lawn And Mine To Hit The Front Of My House
Their car insurance covers all of the damages. Luckily, they were insured. My homeowner's insurance is handling everything communication-wise with their insurance.
Even if the insurance covers anything, I'd report the neighbour to the police. In my country, it's your responsibility as a car owner to make sure it is always driven by a responsible person with a valid driving licence. What if OP had been standing in the porch?
I used to do property restoration work. You'd be surprised how often this happens. In a town of 100k people, with 8 other restoration companies as competition, we got about 5-6 of these a year. People drive into houses way more than you'd expect
An elderly neighbour drove into my next door neighbour's house but as we live in 400 year old cob cottages the only damage was to the car. 🤣 The elderly neighbor was fine although she did manage to drive through a 2ft decorative wall, she doesn't drive any more
Load More Replies...I am very surprised that their car insurance covered this, as the 12 year old would not be a named driver! Wonder if they covered the damage to the car as well?
Probably the uninsured driver clause most companies make us all have here in the US
Load More Replies...I'm glad someone's insurance is covering this. A drunk driver drove into my friend's house (thankfully, she and her husband were out of the country at the time, so they weren't hurt) and basically took out the entire front half of the house. The damage was estimated by a licensed contractor in excess of $100,000, and their insurance tried to make a payout of around $1500. It took my friend and her husband 18 MONTHS and a lawyer to get the insurance to pay the appropriate amount.
How could a 12 year old gain access to a vehicle with the keys in it ? Lack of parental / grand parental control.
Hope the kids has learned a lesson...but seems no consequenced were shown .
We Got New Neighbors
At the very least, it needs a copy of that "color inside the lines" turtle left on the windshield.
That has nothing to do with this. One thing is lazy/incompetent parking, this is a work of an immature, spoiled brat.
Load More Replies...I’m just saying maaaybe the moving truck is on its way and they are trying to save room for it to park. Buuut probably not. Time for a tow truck.

"Gone are the days when Wilma Flintstone chatted with her neighbor Betty over the fence as they hung their laundry. We don't even have time for that. Some neighborhoods forbid the use of clotheslines!" says global community building expert, author, and founder and CEO of Kalliergo Community Building, Lori Gosselin, to Bored Panda.
"It's sad," she adds. "More attention needs to be drawn to this systemic issue. Humans need community like they need oxygen and yet today there is little time to cultivate true community connections."
Neighbors' Kids Broke The Window In My Brand-New House
The dad threatened me last week saying he’d break my windows if my dog ever poop in his yard (my dog has never done so). Found this, presumably from his kids being little idiots, already caught them once putting a hole in my siding with a rock. Can’t approach parents without potentially being attacked. Filed a police report and they couldn’t care less. $1000 repair.
I recommend cameras. Not necessarily outside, but monitoring from inside what goes on outside through the window(s). 3, 4 in a wifi setup, and if something s****y happens, most likely you can prove what really did happen.
Mom's Neighbors Put Up A Million-Watt Crucifix For Christmas
This is not across the street. This is the block over. Best of our picture-taking contest, the power of Christ was too great for our phones to depict this behemoth in all its 20-foot glory.
This has to be a driving hazard. I'd call the non-emergency police number and report them.
yeah if you end up driving down that road you could end up ACTUALLY seeing the light of heaven
Load More Replies...Pretty sure it's not even allowed in the US. At the very least, it would be considered a nuisance. At most, it's probably a driving hazard.
Load More Replies...Is it a Christmas decoration, or a modern day version of a flaming KKK cross… 🤔
I would let them know how offensive the BRIGHT lights are, and if no resolution, call the cops. Traffic accident looking for a place to happen.
Downstairs Neighbor Came To My Door At Midnight After Throwing Rocks At My Window And Calling Me Names
Yesterday night, at about 11, I heard what sounded like pebbles hitting my bedroom window, then a male voice screaming names. About 15 minutes later, I heard a knock on my door. I checked the Ring camera to find a guy I didn’t recognize standing there. He said he was my downstairs neighbor and told me to stop stomping so loud, it’s been six months of nonstop noise, and he’s “sick of it”. I moved in three months ago, not six, and I’ve never had a noise complaint in any of my previous apartments. Plus, my job means I’m gone for 12-14 hours a day. I don’t know what he’s hearing, but I don’t think it’s me. Even if it is, throwing pebbles and then coming to my door at midnight is a weird way to handle it. This whole situation is freaking me out.
I had a neighbor call my house on the anniversary of 911 and say "Your music is blasting us out". I said, we are asleep, or were at the time. I told him if he could come over right now and find anyone in my basement with music paying I will pay him! He apologized and said I don;t know what she heard sorry. SHE was a drop dead drunk!
My GF had a neighbor like this in her old building. A few less than patient words to building management (combined with them knowing said neighbor had mental issues) got them to move her to a new apartment. Might be worth a shot.
According to Gosselin, one of the culprits of declining friendliness among neighbors might be the growing demands of our lives, like work and childcare, that leave little time for leisure.
She suggests that the disappearance of front porches might be another. "People used to occupy the front porch in the evening, greeting neighbors out for evening strolls or walking their dogs. But now we disappear onto the back deck, seeking solitude, choosing introversion over extroversion."
My Neighbor Keeps Parking Her Car On Top Of My Garden Area Instead Of Her Driveway Because She's Too Lazy To Pull Her Trash Cans In
Good luck with that. Most tow places only do tows for contracts or broken down vehicles. They come to tow that car, they are going to ask you to pay for the tow.
Load More Replies...A piece of board with some nails pointing upwards on the ground. Problem solved.
You can even say you use it as garden tool .. and justadd some deco rocks
Load More Replies...A handful of birdseed every day for a couple of weeks should fix this issue.
A large rock/metal post in the front corner could also help.

Neighbors Using The Common Hallway As Storage
That's a fire hazard. Call landlord, if it isn't resolved in a day, call the fire marshall. They will damm well get that hall cleared. Hopefully with some fines to pay.
Or start stealing their stuff. I know those strollers are expensive.
Load More Replies...Oooh! It's nice when people put stuff out they don't want on publicly accessible areas. I bet you could sell some of that stuff for a pretty penny
The Entitled Neighbor Wasn’t Happy With My Parking Job, So They Blocked Me In. The Grey Car Is Mine. As You Can See, I Was A Mile Away From The Line
Dodge Ram owner, shocking. I use to be opposed to the stereotype but they all appear to be jerk-offs.
Hey now…we’d never do that. When we go into town we park at the far end of the parking lot so we don’t crowd anyone. That’s just a j***a**.
Load More Replies...He came in last night a bit, not sober, lucky he stopped before he hit your car, but yes call a tow truck, and notify the police.
Yes you were. Maybe they were drinking. Call cops or tow truck asap , when that happens!!
Maintaining low contact or no contact at all with neighbors often leads to more frequent disagreements, and research has shown that it can negatively affect people’s psychological well-being later in life.
This Is My Neighbors' Garden And They Refuse To Clean It. What's Worse Is That They Have Two Dogs Who Are Always Eating From That Heap Of Trash
Call the council, tell them you've seen rats... Normally they will be over like a shot...
This is also animal neglect, get all the sevices as mentioned below involved, as well as SPCA.
Yes i was confused by the word garden... i see no vegetation lol just trash
Load More Replies...F*****g hell that "yard" is such a disaster area it took me a few seconds to register that it WAS a yard and not a garbage skip. I mean I can be a slob who's lazy about cleaning but at least I throw my garbage in the bin where it belongs!
Neighbor Destroyed Our Condo Building. Because He Got Drunk And High And Left A Cigarette Lit Unattended While Sleeping
The rest of the condo is destroyed from water, fire, and smoke damage, including all of our belongings and the new Xbox Series X I just bought and saved up for. To make matters worse, on my way to move in that night with my parents after being displaced after the whole ordeal, someone hit my new car.
Suing is only effective if the person being sued has money. I tried to sue my neighbor for the scarring left on my face after I rescued her from her own dog that had murderd her other dog. Lost wages, therapy and obvious medical bills were not recoverable because she didn't have renter's insurance, her landlord wasn't liable (claimed he didn't know there was a dangerous breed living there) and my lawyer said we could get a judgement against them, but it would take forever at the earliest. Sucks.
Load More Replies...Did the guy get burned ? So many have died from falling asleep with a burning cigarette setting fire to their mattress or whatever.
That's why I refuse to ever live in a condo or an apartment. It's a standalone home or cardboard box instead. You can't control what your idiot neighbors do, and they can burn down not only their house but yours as well.
Yup. Seen a lot of property fires as a former restoration tech. Most of them are either someone falling asleep with a lit cigarette, electrical, or oil fires. Make sure you have renters insurance from a good company. Don't go for the cheap $20-30k coverage packages as they will fight you every single step of the way to avoid paying you. Desjardins would make us measure every single article of clothing, get every serial number from each individual piece of Tupperware, and even look up the ISBN of every book claimed. They would make sure that our company took $25,000 of your coverage in fees, then cut you a check for $5k. Go with a good company like State Farm and start at $50k coverage for about $30/month. They moved heaven and earth for their clients, sent us back to help seniors unpack (at a cost to their company), or once inspected, just cut you a check for your coverage, minus deductible.
My Neighbors' Parking, And No It’s Not Temporary, Has Been Like This For 3 Days
We have an HOA but clearly, they don’t care, but they do care if my garbage can is left out 30 seconds after garbage is picked up.
The neighbor probably is in the HOA or have friends in it so they think they can do as pleased.
You can call traffic enforcement. The car is parked in the middle of the street and a hazard to emergency vehicles.
Estrangement from neighbors can also result in safety and security infringements. "When you know your neighbors, there is a sense of safety and security," explains Gosselin.
"In my childhood neighborhood, parents parented all the kids on our streets. We knew everyone, and many years later, though most of us have moved away, we see one another at funerals as our parents passed on," she fondly recalls.
"Troubled" Neighbor Kids And "Just A Pellet Gun", Says The Cop
And are the kid's parents paying for the damage? Idiot cop as well. A pellet gun can take out an eye.
Depends on the power of the pellet gun. Many of them can penetrate bone and injure the brain.
Load More Replies...Take shots at the cop's house. He won't mind - "it's just a pellet gun".
Ooh, a friend had a neighbor who'd shoot off his pellet gun at the back of her house. One went right through the window and lodged in the wall of her baby's nursery. Entire neighborhood called the cops, one after the other, until somebody showed up.
for now, it's just a pellet gun, eventually they'll graduate to something more dangerous.
But when you shoot back with a pellet gun guess who’s is gonna get arrested for assault? This is BS!
This is BS, because no cop would say "It's just a pellet gun." They treat pellet guns just like the would treat a firearm especially if it was fired into an occupied dwelling.
Drunk, 80 Mph Into My Townhouse. A Neighbor Missed His House And Wrecked Mine Instead
BP comment sections never disappoint. On a pic of car crash, people are triggered by the sight of an American flag inside the destroyed home. SMDH
8 mph. At 80 mph the car would have come out of the other side of wooden house like that. In fact, at 80 mph it would likely come out of the otherside of a brick house.
Oh my god, is everyone Ok? Neighbour should pay repairs, fine and his driving licence should be taken away. They could kill someone.
I'm glad my former drunk neighbor was smart enough to walk home from the bar. I ended up having to guide him back to his own porch on a couple of occasions, but at least he never drive into my living room...
Neighbor Tried To Saw My Door Handle Off Today Because She Hadn't Seen My Cat In The Window For 3 Days
Swear to God I thought birds had a legit vendetta against me all winter waking me up at 6 AM with taps on the window. Like, what do these feathered creatures have against me?
I know, right? There was no other means to check on them, like, knocking on that door, ring the bell, leaving a message, anything but the jaws of life./s
Load More Replies...What does the bird comment have to do with your neighbor not seeing your cat in the window for three days and destroying your door?

"There is a special connection neighbors should enjoy, but this connection needs to be cultivated. My parents partied with the neighbors. My mother met with other mothers for coffee, often. We had memorized the phone number of her closest friend in the neighborhood and knew to call there if she wasn't home. Our children today miss this. Worse; they don't even know what they are missing," she adds.
How My Neighbors “Prune” The City Owned Street Trees Outside Their Houses
The first three photos show some of my neighbor's handwork. The last picture shows what the trees are supposed to look like. I don’t understand how multiple people on one street can feel compelled to psychotically destroy trees like this. They don’t even own the trees!
Report them, they might have to pay for those trees. They are killing trees that gives shade during hot summer days.
It's called pollarding. *Pollarding is a tree pruning technique that involves cutting away the upper branches of a tree, which can help keep the tree healthy and safe. It's often done in the winter or spring to reduce the risk of stress or damage to the tree. *
Pollarding. Stops the canopy of the tree getting too big. Difficult to tell what species they are, but Salix, Prunus, Tilea all respond well to that treatment. See most of rural France for reference. Maybe a break of a year would be ok, but the trees look ok to me
This is a cut to make the trees fuller and uniform. I can't remember what it's called but is a landscaping trend. Our neighbor(landscapers) do this. The trees are always beautiful
It's called "topping," and the trees will probably die. If they are city property, those people could be prosecuted for destruction of city or state property. I think those idiots should be topped!
... if you're not gonna allow them leaves, why do you plant trees in the first place? Appears like ... dunno, but I've known someone who adopted two cats, and rehomed them when they first made a scratch in a wallpaper. Because "I don't want my home to be wrecked". She wasn't among the brightest.......
Are these trees deciduous? The neighbors most likely don't want to clean fallen leaves.
My local shopping centre does the same with its 80 year old trees every year.
Neighbor Throws Dog Food At My Car Cause I'm Parked In Front Of Her Window
It happened twice this week, we live in a building and this woman who lives at the bottom floor throws dog food on my car because I'm parked in front of her window.
She doesn't even have a car.
Collect some dog turds and hang them on her door with a note: "your donations have been processed"
Is it her parking spot, that comes with her apartment? It doesn't matter if she has no car. She paid for the spot and uses it for the view.
As someone without a vehicle, I had a similar thought. I don't use my spot for my own vehicle, but I have friends who help me get to the grocery store, medical appointments, even occasionally take my kid to school when the weather's nasty. Fortunately, my neighbor's all know this and leave my spot open, but I'd be pretty pissed if someone just took it! (Although I wouldn't commit vandalism. I'd just report it to the property manager and have himself take care of it. He's good about stuff like that.)
Load More Replies...I know a lot of eldern or disabled people who really hate a car parked infront of their window. It is often the only view they see. They rarely leave their livingroom unless they are gonna go to bed or are out for a walk. Yeah they suck for leaving dog food on your car. But also OP's reasoning sucks. Just because they don't have a car, doesn't mean it's not a problem. Are there maybe other placed you can park that are nearby and doesn't block views? Just to be clear. Neighbour is definitely in the wrong. Just an open conversation about it could have solved it.
save it up and paint her window saying she is blocking your car window.
Throw dog food through their window. Preferably while still in the can.
I Asked The Neighbor If He Could Have His Daughter Leave Room On The Sidewalk For My Mom’s Wheelchair And My Kids. This Was His Response
So my neighbors' college-aged daughter always parks over the sidewalk causing all the neighborhood kids and walkers to go into the street to get around her SUV (it’s a pretty busy street as it feeds into the rest of the neighborhood). I’ve asked her once and her response was let me ask my parents, but nothing happened. Fast forward about 9 months. My mom who uses a wheelchair (due to advanced MS) is coming to visit so I asked the neighbor if he could possibly have his daughter park in a way that didn’t cover the sidewalk, while she was here visiting. This pic shows his response. Also, as you can see there is plenty of parking not only in the street but in their own driveway!
There's a lot of people in my hometown who block the sidewalks, even though they have driveways. When i asked them to move their cars, their response was: "There's sidewalk on the other side. " Yeah, and there's sidewalk on their side, too. Sidewalk is right next their houses, and driveways are closer to the road. But they park cars right next to wall of their houses, blocking sidewalk.
Load More Replies...Cops ought to be able to ticket the car, also maybe tow. There is no excuse for this.
Where I live in San Francisco, if your vehicle blocks even an inch of the sidewalk you can call a number and someone will come out and leave a "present" on the car - a $95 ticket.
I'm a wheelchair user, I would be tempted to key her car. I know my actions would be illegal, but I hate people who deliberately go out of their way to make difficult for others
I'm guessing they drive a vehicle to large for themselves...and the front car could pull up like five feet.
But not all residents are completely against fostering neighborhood interactions. Nextdoor, partnered with The Harris Poll, found that 71% of adults would like to meet more people in their neighborhood, while 50% say they wish they had a closer relationship with surrounding dwellers. Despite having such aspirations, 47% of grownups admit that it’s difficult to make new connections.

Neighbor Across The Street Sits In A Hummer All Night With High Beams Pointed Straight At My House
They sit in their hummer from 5 PM to 7 AM, smoking out, and leaving periodically only to return 10 minutes later.
Yes, I've asked them to stop.
No, the curtains are not enough to block out the focused sunbeams pointed into my house.
Call the police. If they do nothing buy a high-powered spotlight and point it back at them.
Some people exist just to annoy others. Often they do not realize what they do until you address it. Then they start to do it on purpose.
Load More Replies...I'm guessing d**g dealer if they leave for 10 minute intervals all night. The Hummer is their "office". Had one in my former apartment building and another neighbour tipped off the cops. Bye bye dealer neighbour!
My Retired Neighbor Is Draining Their Pool Into Our Yard. He Does This Every Year, But He Stuck The Hose Under The Fence This Time
He stopped when I asked, but will probably just do it again tomorrow when I leave for work. The chlorine destroys the grass every year.
Kink the hose. If it is on your property, do what you want with that damm hose.
Pull the hose through as far as you can - really tight, Then cut it off. it will contract back into his place and won't reach your fence in future. Repeat this every time he replaces the hose. An alternative is to get large amounts of red-coloured dye and pump it back up the hose into his pool.
Load More Replies...Get some hose and a connector and feed it back onto his property further down the fence-line. Preferably under the soil.
Get a screw on cap for the hose. Amazon sells 20 of them for $9.99 US. https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Garden-Female-Fitting-Standard/dp/B0815SMC9G/ref=asc_df_B0815SMC9G?tag=bngsmtphsnus-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80058307777684&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583657835721422&psc=1 Every time the hose shows up under your fence, cap it. Use pliers to tighten it down so it is very hard to remove. The pool will never drain.
1. Pull the house as far into your yard as possible and cut it off. 2. Collect a large amount of dog poop. 3. wait until his pool has been refilled and toss the poop in late at night.
Have a relaxing glass of deep red followed by shoving that cork in his damned hole
We discovered the overflow pipe from our neighbours pond under our fence, my husband bunged the end with a glue gun
Pull enough hose out to knot it. They can't pull it back and the knot will kink it. Then take your photos to the cops. They're poisoning your lawn!.
Gosselin doesn't find it the least bit surprising that many adults struggle with making connections with surrounding dwellers.
"This would require what would amount to a herculean effort, but most of us do not have time or energy for this. After work, picking up the children from daycare, or greeting them at home after school, getting supper ready, dealing with homework and a little time before bed, when do parents have time to go out and build community with their neighbors?"
Neighbor Was Not Happy That We Mowed One Row Into His Lawn, So He Decided To Spray Grass Herbicide To Make A Point
One of our neighbours mows a bit of grass that is technically ours. We have kept very quiet about it!
A large cup of bleach accidentally spilled over a section of their yard should fix the issue.
Guess he made his point; some people have odd mental and physical boundaries.
My neighbor mows over the property line all crooked and takes it down to the dirt. It irritates the s**t out of me, but I am not about to start a fight over it. Better to have an ugly property line than vengeful neighbors I say.
My Neighbor Has A New Light
I had that problem once. It shown like broadway into our bedroom even with darkening shades. I wrote a note to her and said " Unless you want us to play loud music and dance for you, get that thing down or covered" She did.
Roller blinds could help. But they do not seem to be very common in overseas.

We can take many pages out of small-town community-building pursuits, say, for instance, in the TV series, Gilmore Girls. There is a reason we watch shows like this. We enjoy community relationships vicariously through watching them."
Neighbor Puts The Camera Faced Towards Our Windows And Yard
After they stole telephone poles from our driveway and sold them on the marketplace we installed a camera for protection (not facing toward their property by the way). But then we find this…
How do you sell a telephone pole? Who would buy a telephone pole, and what would they need it for?

Neighbor Left Their Mark On The New Road
This neighbor appears to have gone around the barrier because their need to get home (and, apparently, leave again) was more important than everyone else on the street who has to see this every day going forward.
I would think whoever is responsible for the new asphalt would have something to say to the neighbour.

Neighbors Pile Their Trash Up In Front Of The Empty Dumpster
It’s mildly infuriating that I have to step over all of that nasty trash to be able to reach the dumpster to throw my garbage away. Usually, I end up just walking to a different dumpster, seems to be just my immediate neighbors who are incapable of actually putting their trash IN the dumpster.
My neighbors above me throw their rubbish over the balcony & send their kids down to bring it the bin sheds.. 1, the kids don't pick up everything and 2, the can't reach the dumpsters so they just leave the rubbish around the dumpsters like this.. Mildly infuriating? Grinds my gears
I live in a complex with a few older people. The dumpsters used to have sliding doors on the sides, but don't anymore. Some of those older folks can't heave their trash bags up over their heads to get them in the bin. The good news is the super comes by a few times a day and puts anything left next to the dumpster into it properly.
depending on how urban or rural this is, that's an excellent way to attract bears!
That dumpster would be a problem for me. I’m 4’10” (give or take) and a senior. There’s no way I could put my trash in one of those.
It’s definitely wrong, but some of those dumpster lids are too heavy for older people to lift.

We do live on the top floor so I understand not wanting to take the trash down immediately. However, maybe consider that you shouldn’t block my door and the closest staircase to me.
Call the police and say you are being held captive! At the very least they can fine their a$$ for the fire hazard.
I'd push it right back in front of, maybe leave them a not asking them to pick their own c**p up, not just dump it in their door, maybe even tape it to their door frame so they really have to push their way through it to get out, or tape it to the floor right in front of their door, make them climb over their c**p. If the continue to do stuff like this speak with the landlord.
Apart from the fact that it is obviously a fire hazard, just move it to their side.
Neighbors Decided To Park In Front Of My Garage, Blocking Me In
Call the police, tell them you are being held captive. Towing would be great, it is well deserved. How can the neighbor not see how wrong they are?
You have a lot of faith in the police who would probably dismiss this as a neighbour dispute and not get involved.
Load More Replies...I don't know any place in the US where this is even legal. If the OP has to leave for any emergency and can't, the neighbor is liable and the police know it. I used to have the drunks from across the street park in front of my driveway all the time and there was no way to go around them. Called the cops who had them towed, rinse and repeat. It got so the cops didn't even bother to ask me to go to the house anymore and make the owners move their cars. They didn't either. The just arrived, took one look, and called the tow company. Twenty-one tows and the neighbors finally got the message.

The Front Door Of My Apartment Has Been Egged With Hard-Boiled Eggs 3 Times This Month. No Idea Who Is Doing It Or Why
I spend most of my time at my girlfriend's house, so most days I am only at my house for a few hours at most. The eggs always get thrown when I am home and during the day but I've never seen it happen so I'm not even sure who is doing it. The 1st time it happened I thought my neighbor just dropped them, but there have been marks from the yolks on my door the last 2 times.
I try my best to be quiet when I'm home because my downstairs neighbor has a young child. I've only lived here 2 months and I've never even spoken to any of my neighbors so I don't understand why this is happening.
My only consolation is that they are considerate enough to only use hard-boiled eggs.
Someone pissed off at a past occupant; that they consider you pushed a friend out,; or they wanted someone else to move in. Get a wildlife trail camera - not too expensive, has IR night-time capability and also great for filming owls.
That last line though..."and also great for filming owls". That's gold! 🤣 Like they were like: "oh, a camera...I dunno...it does work at night too he says...just unsure if I want to...oh wait!...it's great for filming owls too?? Oh well, I'm sold!" 🤣🤣

Neighbor Parks Their Car To Purposely Block The Sidewalk, Despite Having Plenty Of Room In Their Driveway
I'd be pushing a pram/stroller down the sidewalk and banging it into the car. Take pictures of where the car is beforehand, and show it to whoever the neighbor complains to about dents. Car might even be ticketed for blocking sidewalk. Towed would be great, because not only is it blocking the sidewalk, it is going out into the street also.
I got ticketed once for blocking the sidewalk (I was young and didn't yet know I could be ticketed for that, since technically I was also in my own driveway; just not all the way in, and I was blocking the sidewalk. Lesson learned.)

People in my street leaves cars parked on the side of road, because there are no driveways, only sidewalk. How Do You Stop Trucks From Driving Over This Corner?
New construction in the neighborhood. My house is on a cul de sac and trucks cut the corner and drive on my lawn all the time. I have debated getting boulders but they’re really expensive in my area. Also considering some 6x6 posts. One of the issues is the main water line runs along the road (blue line in the picture) and I have a utility easement 10’ from the road. Looking for ideas of what I could potentially do. I was thinking maybe I could argue to the county that the builder is risking potentially damaging the main line from the weight of the trucks driving on it?
I can see your argument about damage to the main line. Definitely make that call.
Get a big damn rock and put it on the corner. Big enough to damage a trailer. This is a common technique. We used it at my work years ago because truckers would cut the corner short and end up getting hung up on cars that were parked. Big damn rock solved the problem.
"Forget" you put that old rusty, sharpened rake down there last night 😇

My Neighbor Sprayed Herbicide On My Back Lot To Make Himself A Parking Spot
Sheriff says that in our county you’re allowed to park on the outer 8 feet of someone else’s lawn for a day or two without their permission because it’s considered the shoulder. Come back to the same spot as many times as you want, just don’t be there continuously. You probably don’t have the right to damage someone else’s vegetation but I can’t prove it was him.
Bird seed spread in that area every day for a few weeks will do wonders and return the favor with some bleach and salt over the first 8 feet of their lawn.
do some construction on the spot, maybe a couple of boxes of nails and boards get spread out.
Plant trees, build a fence, get some big rocks, etc to kick him off your property.

Neighbor Dumped Their Mattress In The Lobby. This Bed Has Been Here For About 3 Weeks. I Don't Understand How Some People Just Can't Organize To Throw Away Their Stuff
When I was young. (late teens, early twenties), my partner and I moved into a property that had clearly been used by loads of people because there were 10(ish) mattresses. With youthful wisdom we decided the easist way to get rid of them was to leave them outside of a charity shop that was few doors down. Feeling a guilty I heard a woman complain that someone had left three mattresses outside the shop. Three? Who had nicked the other seven??
If I knew who did this, I'd put the mattress up against their front door.
Fire hazard, Why hasn't the landlord forced them to dispose of it responsibly like normal people do?
I'm single, and just had workmen for 7 weeks, they made a terrible mess and I have only just finished clearing it up. It took 2 weeks to clear up because if there's just one of you it takes twice as long, but I did make sure none of the rubbish encroached on my neighbours space. Maybe offer to help them dispose of it to speed up the process?
They probably don't have access to a pickup truck to take it to the waste disposal place
It might not exist. Where Iive if you want to get rid of a mattress or large appliance, you have to take it to the solid waste district yourself.

New Neighbors Have Huge Parties Every Week And Keep Blocking Our Cars In
Either that or a large, beat up truck to squeeze past them. I lived on a horse boarding stable with a large gate across the front that was shut and locked at night. I was working a late shift and had to work the early shift the next morning. I came home to find a car parked right in front of the gate. I was able to get the gate open, but couldn't get my truck past the car without doing a lot of damage. I honked my horn, yelled, and got no response. So....my truck being a 15 year old wreck with so many dings and dents you couldn't count them, I scraped by the car. I'm sure I did incredible damage to the side of the car (couldn't tell anything happened to my truck) but at least I got some sleep that night. Best of all, these people had parked right in front of a huge sign on the gate that said "NO PARKING".

Just help yourself to the valve-stems of tires on the opposite corner of the offending cars.
If for whatever reason you can't get them to move the vehicles then of course first call should be the cops, then a towing company, and lastly, if you've got a big pickup, (preferably 4 wheel drive), maybe just "accidentally", back right into the side of the car blocking your driveway, making sure to take plenty of pictures toi show where they were parked and any records you have of calling them asking them to move the cars.

Neighbors Decided My Bike Was Too Monochromatic
This happened to my car once when our house was being painted. The company didn't tell us to park somewhere else and there was some wind that day, so the paint sprayed over the whole car, which was dark blue. The company apologized and paid for the removal.
My dad is a house painter, and he always tells the people to park away from the home. If they don't, and they're not around to move, he just wraps the entire car in saran wrap and duct tape. And then doesn't remove it. Hey, it protects their car, even if it is a nuisance to remove!

How My Neighbor’s Landscapers Cleared The Leaves From Her Property (Bottom). My Property (Top) Starts At The Fence Line
I only see trees on your property. Imho you should have taken care of those leaves way earlier but clearly you didn't. The landscaper did you a favour by piling the leaves up so you can remove them easily.
You can't even see the other property so how the hell do you know if there's trees there?? I'm going to guess this neighbor isn't the only person in the neighborhood without a single tree on their property and most people aren't stupid enough to think that the neighbor should be responsible for moving all their leaves if the neighbor is living in a treeless yard..... Some of you people just need to type things just to make yourself feel special huh stupidity all around

We have a huge oak in our yard. The leaves make it to several yards around us. On the other hand our yard gets maple leaves, we don't have a maple tree, black walnuts, we don't have one of those either. It's nature, things blow. Are you really thinking that your neighbors should rake up all the leaves in your yard because they may have come from their tree? Nuts.

Nope. Leaves should be left to turn to mulch under the snow during winter. It makes for a healthy lawn.

For the numerous people saying call a tow truck. You do realize that they are going to charge you for the tow or they aren't going to do it, right? Unless they have a neighborhood contract, a one off tow is going to cost the caller for the tow. Of course you could recoup that in small claims.

The individual acts aren't enough to maybe get them criminally charged or sued, but if they have this persistent pattern of offensive, anti-social behaviors that harm their neighbors, there should be a mechanism to correct and redirect the inconsiderate jerks. Are ASBOs it?
