After Years Of Being Bullied, Indian Girl Conquers Fashion World As Rihanna’s Lookalike
Indian model Renee Kujur owes much to her success in the profession the singer Rihanna. Rene has dark skin, and in India are considered beautiful white-skinned girls, making the dream of being a model in that country become something very difficult. But everything changed when a friend of the girl noticed how she looked like the famous singer and with just one photo, everything changed.
Rene Kujur, from the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, is today a model of success. Many fashion brands dispute it, a girl with chocolate skin, big eyes and fleshy lips, who is like two peas in a pod similar to a R & B star. But it was not always so. Early in her modeling career, Rene suffered a lot.
A few years ago, the girl faced endless rejections and even ridiculed her because of the dark skin and unusual features for India. Makeup artists used cosmetics to brighten their face, and edits in photoshop were always present.
When she thought she was wrong to choose this profession, one of her friends noticed that she looked like singer Rihanna, and photographed her without makeup. After that, other photographers were struck by the resemblance.
“Photographers told their clients that I looked like Rihanna. So it was easier to persuade them to work with me. No one can deny that Rihanna is beautiful. And it saved me. Rihanna has already convinced everyone that she is sexy and beautiful, and the West is going crazy with her. If I look like her, how can I be unattractive?”
When Rene was three years old, she participated in a children’s costume contest, and stepped into a fairy costume. Someone from the audience shouted, “Look, look, the black fairy.” The girl ran backstage in tears. Now, twenty years later, when Rene realizes something like that, she smiles and thinks, “Some fairies are black, too”
“Few are ready to change the rules. For most people, beauty means a strictly defined skin color. It will take time to change those visions, but I’m happy to be a part of those changes.”
One of her dreams is to meet Rihanna- “In a way, she has changed my destiny. I would love to meet her, surprise her and thank her, “she says.
