This Makeup Artist Can Turn Herself Into Any Creature, Here Are 35 Of Her Impressive Makeovers
Interview With ArtistMeet Kristin Ker Anderson, an artist known for remarkable makeup transformations. With no prior experience in makeup artistry, Kristin found herself captivated by amazing creators turning themselves into mesmerizing creatures and animals. "I said to myself 'wow!' Some of them I can do, some blow my mind, like how did they do that? What's that they're putting on their faces to become like that?" the artist writes on her website. "And my curious self started to follow them. Patiently waiting for them to put a content on the materials they're using, and made a list, and asked my husband if I can buy those." And she bought them all!

Bored Panda contacted Anderson to ask more about herself and her creative process. The artist first began being interested in makeup while browsing "For Your Page" (FYP) in TikTok during the pandemic last March of 2020. "I saw makeup artists/sfx and I was shocked and thought I think I can do that! It caught my attention and interest to try," the artist shared.
Anderson's favorite transformation is her purple queen. "It's my first attempt to do my own headpiece. At that time, my highest views were 7 million, and I loved this look because it felt like a fantasy come to life. However, the next day, my eyes and forehead became swollen because of the glue I had used. That day, I learned something from my mistake. Since then, every day has been a learning experience, and anyone can grow and become better."
We asked the artist what materials, products, or techniques she typically uses to create her makeup transformations. Anderson replied that she always loves using hot glue, whether it's for the headpiece, the face, or her bra, as well as for creating textures. "Most of the looks I've done were made with hot glue. They even called me the 'hot glue queen.' It's amazing what you can create with it! My signature materials, as you can see, are bling and stones; I have a fondness for sparkly things."
Anderson creates unique looks inspired by her own imagination. The artist told us that she has a lot of ideas flowing in her mind; there's just not enough materials and time to execute them all. "I absolutely love the original queens I've created. I'm not too much of a fan of doing looks that 97% of the makeup artists out here have already done, like movie characters, etc. I only recreate when it's current and trending. My inspiration can come from anything. I enjoy mixing colors, so if it's for Halloween, let's go for something scary. Animals are obviously the easiest to recreate; you can't go wrong with just copying them. However, when it comes to animals, I can only choose those whose perspectives align with the shape of my face. On the other hand, fairies, flowers, and color combinations are limitless. You can create anything by focusing on a single object, like a fish and its colors. From there, I'll know the materials I can use and combine them to create something unique, whether it's an alien, a goddess, or just an illusion makeup."
When it comes to the time it takes to create one look, Anderson shared that she doesn't count the hours spent on making headpieces and props. "Sometimes I think I enjoy doing this more than the makeup itself. It's fulfilling for me to bring to life a piece that originated in my imagination. A picture pops up in my mind, and I just bring it to life. It's like stepping into a whole new world, and I love it! Creating the headpieces may take a day, but I don't mind because I do it while I relax and watch TV.
The makeup itself can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the complexity. Animal-themed looks usually take 2 to 3 hours, and movie characters are the easiest because who would struggle and spend a long time just copying them? However, for my queens, which require a lot of glitters, stones, adhesives, and intricate details, those take the longest."
While most of these just aren’t my style, I really respect and admire her effort, dedication, and TALENT!! Holy cow!
Yes. Not to my taste, but I admire the talent. I'm very impressed.
