I’m A Dog Behaviour Therapist And I Draw Comic Strips About Dogs

I have been crazy about dogs since the day I first saw one and I like to draw since the day I can hold a pencil.

About 17 years ago I became an instructor in a dog school and a few years later, after obtaining the required diplomas, I upgraded myself to Dog Behavior Therapist.

Over the years I’ve seen hundreds of dogs with all kinds of behavior(al problems), in the dog schools where I worked and at their homes.

Nowadays I don’t teach anymore but still help an occasional problem dog with the behaviors of its people. ;-)

Thanks to this job and our own 3 Belgian Shepherds I learned to look at life through dogs eyes more and more. This opened a whole new world and because of the numerous typical and funny situations I wanted to make a comic strip about it for a long time, but… never had the time to do it.

Today, I still don’t have the time but I decided to ignore that small negligible detail and go for it anyway.

My comic strip Dogs Don’t Whisper (they really don’t, Mr. C.M.) features different dogs every week. Sometimes it’s pure fantasy, sometimes it’s close to reality and in a few cases it’s literally what happened in real life.

My goal is to make people smile and let them learn a little bit about that dogs point of view along the way.

I hope you enjoy it!

RELATED:

1: I lost count of the times I saw this IRL.

2: Dogs Don’t Valentine! (And are usually not so fond of the vet)

3: A typical proposal. This is how Jack Russels really think! (Jack Russell owners can confirm this)

4: People jobs and animal jobs.

5: I know everything about you!

6: When your dog doesn’t know he makes the holes himself but thinks he discovers them! My own yard once looked like this when my 2nd pup “discovered” underground holes.

7: Horses are scared easily and hungry rottweilers can be very scary.

8: Sadly, this actually happens a lot, bad training which results in dogs who only understand physical forcing instead of words.

9: Dog applies Pavlov. One of our dogs did this exact thing for real (preferably with parties) and we fell for it many times.

    10: Throw in some tiles.

11: Easter egg hunting. Based on real stories of real vets.

12: Brain size. If people were more like dogs the world would be a so much better place.

13: What’s with all that howling at the moon actually?

14: The alternative to howling at the moon.

15: Again a true story. I’ve seen this hilarious scene quite often IRL! Usually these people have a red head and ears where steam comes out.

16: This one happened for real. When our first pup met our cat for the first time!

17: Cats… they just can’t help themselves when it comes down to their hunting instincts.

    18: Found you!

19: Man’s best friend (provided that man is friendly to animals).

20: They usually don’t see themselves as they are seen by people.

I think this has so few upvotes because the pictures were so small. I brought my glasses up on my head and enjoyed very much.

Thank you very much! That's a great compliment and some useful information at once. I think you 're right about the size. Since a few weeks, after the comics I posted here I more often make single image cartoons than comicstrip panels because of that reason. See: https://www.facebook.com/DogsDontWhisper

You really hit the nail on the head with these cartoons! Very funny but also very informative. IF you can get through to the morons! I've heard it said, there are no bad dogs, only bad humans. Sadly so true.

Great art and wounderful content. It gave me a tour to my childhood feelings of watching cartoons. Coz talking animals in color screen. Plus i have a lab and i could relate to the car cartoon.

Thank you for your compliments. I love to read that sort of stuff! Ofcourse! I too am from the "talking animals generation" myself. Tom & Jerry, Loony Tunes, Donald Duck. Awesome! I'm sorry about your "car problem", although its a funny scene, haha! If you like to solve it... from now on make sure your dog finds a really tasty cookie in the car as soon as he jumps in. Don't "tell" him, just let him experience it. After a few times you 'll have a dog that is waiting at the car door until you open it! (Just one cookie at a time, and don't hide it or you 'll learn him to rip your car apart to find cookies) Success!!

I train people to behave better, so they can have the best relationship with their dogs...OK, I'm a certified dog trainer/behaviourist, and your cartoons are spot on! Which is sad, at times, but humour can help us get through trying to offer science and fact based training, in a world of personalities before principles, and myths that, like cockroaches, seem to be indestructible! Cheers!

Thank you! There are a lot of people who already know that aversive training only lead to short term pseudo solutions and long time extra problems and know much better, more effective and dog friendly ways. Let's all share as much of this knowledge as we can! Keep on the good work colleague! Cheers back to ya!

Own a Jack Russell, and it's true they have no concept of size. Mine chased off a black bear, and later that day was hauling across the carpet being chased by my cockatiel... They are also a lot smarter that people realize. My GF was over at house while Lady was draped over my shoulder on the chair (her favorite spot) while I was reading a book. Went to turn the page and she growled. My GF asked what happened and I had to explain, "She wasn't done reading that page yet."
