“Deserve To Be Flung Into The Sun”: 50 Dumb Drivers That Are A Danger To Themselves And Society (New Pics)
Cars are one of the most dangerous forms of transportation, second only to motorcycles. But since they’re such a routine part of daily life, it’s easy to forget how risky they can be. Being on the ground doesn’t feel nearly as intimidating as flying 40,000 feet in the air, after all.
The real concern, though, is that on the road, you’re constantly surrounded by other people—unlike planes, which don’t exactly have to worry about traffic jams in the sky. And let’s be honest, people can make some pretty ridiculous decisions behind the wheel.
Just take a look at the pictures we’ve gathered of some truly questionable drivers, and you’ll see exactly what we mean. Stay safe out there!

Don't Tailgate A School Bus When Your Car Is Shaped Like A Door Stop
That bus probably didn't feel a thing and barely got a scratch if at all.
Load More Replies...Anybody remember the Triumph TR7 adds back when, bragging that their wedge shape was "the shape of things to come"? I'd never really thought about it but this is likely one of the reasons it wasn't actually the shape of things to come. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrgF38F_qw0
"Don't tailgate" is a solid advice regardless the shape of the vehicle...
That car should be able to stop way more quickly than that bus, so it must have been extremely close, unless the driver wasn't looking at all.
Quite a few years ago, a woman (just happened to be) was driving behind a semi on US 127 near Harrison Mich in a whiteout condition. She got too close, and the front of the car was somehow hooked by the ICC bar. She went on an unwanted ride. The news footage of the vehicle after the fact was hilarious (no one hurt, just scared sh**less), absolutely caked with snow.
Still don't understand why there aren't safety requirements in the US to have bars fitted to the rear and sides of vehicles to guard against this. It is the law in the UK and Europe that such bars are fitted. This particular incident may well have been the car driver's fault, but accidents like this do happen through no fault of the smaller vehicle and it results in severe injuries or at higher speeds in death by decapitation.
There are bizarre holes in US safety regulations that can't be accounted for. Two that infuriate me are that red is still allowed for turn signals. And it's still permitted to blink a taillight to function as a turn signal, instead of a requirement that the taillight, turn signal, and brake light be in separate housings illuminating separate lenses. And the reason this is infuriating and not mildly annoying is that we've been buried in a blizzard of requirements for expensive computer operated "safety" features, but these trivially simple fixes are ignored. And when all those electronic gizmos stop working, good luck finding somebody who can fix them.

I called them as soon as I got in cell phone range. The hose was busted up by dragging so long. I agreed to pay for a new one which came out to $500.
Gee Whiz, I Sure Hate Being Able To See Anything At All While Driving At Night So Thanks For Illuminating My Visibility To Zero
Disclaimer: photos taken safely at a red light!
While no picture can capture the essence of this somehow not illegal car lights, I feel like the literal twinkle streaks is a good indicator.
This person was behind me (and several others) most of my commute. Lights like this clearly aren’t for the driver’s visibility benefit since many are affixed to trucks requiring a miniature ladder to hop in, so what is the point other than Main Character douchebaggery?
I legit just had this happen to me, less than an hour ago. I ran to McDonald's to get a late night snack and I have a pretty low to the ground car. It's a Honda Accord coupe and I had some dbag, who was clearly overcompensating, in an F-350, lifted, with those ridiculously bright lights, behind me in the drive thru. I had to sit with my arm in a certain position, in order to help me from being blinded, from his lights reflected in my mirror, for almost 10 minutes. They're the worst and I've pulled over to let some of them pass me, just so I don't have to deal with it.

Traffic Was Backed Up For Miles Because Of This Guy
I am not surprised at all. There's a reason why the US have one of the highest rates of road fatalities and road accdidents per capita within the "western world".
There were plenty of photos in this thread that were not from the US.
Load More Replies...As I mentioned in a comment above, it is perfectly legal in 46 out of 50 states, to ride in the bed of pick-up truck with no seats or restraints (although 25 of those states have various age & speed restrictions).
There's a design / behaviour flaw here: modern pick-up trucks don't have a long enough bed and are treated as strictly decorative vehicles (compensation / rather than people buying a stationwagon) and so can't actually haul stuff safely. Back in the 70s my parents had a Ford F150 supercab -- the rear seating area was tiny, but you could carry full-length 2x4s safely in the back. Designed to actually haul things, not to double as the family car with a postage stamp in the back.
One time a lady backed into me in a parking lot. She had a cover over 80% of her back window. She asked me "how could you expect me to see you with my window covered like that?". The idiocy still blows me away... She also claimed it was partially my fault because I didn't "toot at her" before she hit me.
There are cases that puzzle me and perhaps there should be some kind of road psychologist? I think people too often transfer their domestic frustrations to the road to their driving style. For example, what I often encounter is a vehicle that has been following me for a long time calmly suddenly starts to overtake me in front of a pedestrian crossing and then the driver, probably preoccupied with his phone or thinking about an argument with his wife and snapped out of his lethargy by the desire to overtake me, notices that he is in front of the crossing so .... ... gives all the gas the factory gave to fit in, but still does not fit in front of .... so I have to brake... madness. Maybe the police should be able to send drivers to a psychologist?
You act like people don't do this stuff in other countries.
