I was in university and met this really cute girl, Emily. I really liked her but since we met right before our graduation and she had to go back to her home country, I decided to keep my feelings inside me. But when graduation day came, Emily gave me a gift of homemade chocolate. Idiot me decided not to open the box and eventually, I completely forgot about it. And now I think not opening it was the biggest mistake of my life.

Share on FacebookStill being a coward. 'Emily' has probably felt really stupid for her gift for years. This guy could at the very least explain and apologize. Not because he still wants to be with her, but to assuage the way Emily must still feel. That kind of brush-off/rejection doesn't dissapear.
Agreed. I'm sure she'd like it cleared up and to get some closure on it.

He has an idea of what's inside, but leaves them sitting there. Eventually, he'll open them and find stale chocolates (which he would have eaten) or other goodies.
im not saying this didnt happen, buttttt.... how do you "forget" about a gift wrapped box in your fridge for two years? a fridge you probably open multiple times a day and stare at this box? your current gf or past gf never asked about the box or insisted on opening it? Also, as someone else said you could reach out and explain the situation, as we all go back mentally to moments that made us feel really stupid, and i bet this one is a repeat guest for her....
Yes, he had to have cleaned the fridge more than one in two years. And if someone else had done it they would have either thrown the box away or asked him about it. Colour me skeptical.
